Interview with Heidi Klum-Oscar Special
This week Heidi Klum teamed up with Victoria’s Secret and celebrity style experts Linda Hay, Helena Faccenda and Mary Alice Stephenson for an exclusive event to showcase Hollywood’s best red carpet secrets. Beauty Interviews was lucky enough to ask Heidi three questions about how to prepare for the red carpet and also learn more of her secrets to looking so beautiful. Heidi Klum’s interview was published today in BeautyInterviews.com Oscar Special February 2008 edition. Here are some highlights from Heidi’s interview!

Heidi Klum-Beauty Interviews Oscar Special February 2008.
How do you decide on a hair style for the red carpet? The dress inspires everything. I’ll put on the dress the day of the event and we’ll collaborate on what kind of hair and makeup will look best.
In what way is red carpet makeup different that any other day or event? Red carpet beauty prep is a little different because you usually have more time to get ready and it becomes a fun, girly event. We joke around and sip a little champagne. It’s really fun and festive. And, red carpet makeup can be a little bolder and more adventurous when you’re wearing a dramatic evening gown.
Is there any beauty do’s or don’t’s before the big red carpet day? I try to live a healthy balanced life always, so I don’t do anything different before the big day. I think you get into trouble if you’re experimenting with crazy or drastic beauty treatments the day before! But, I do like to have sun-kissed skin for the red carpet, so I apply Bare Bronze Gleaming Self Tan Tint mixed with Bare Bronze Daily Glow Moisturizer the day before. Top with a little Sexy Little Things Shimmer Powder and you’re glowing for the red carpet!

From left to right: Linda Hay, Helena Faccenda, Heidi Klum,
and Mary Alice Stephenson.
Products that I use that are great for red carpet looks: Victoria’s Secret Very Voluptuous Lip Plumper-The perfect red carpet product, it PLUMPS and SMOOTHS lips. Good for the red carpet if you want lips to be the focal point. Victoria’s Secret New Very Voluptuous Extreme Volume Mascara-For lush, unbelievably thick, eye opening lashes. Defines and lengthens while creating ultra-voluminous, clump-free lashes in just one sweep.

Shimmering Body Powder.
Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup Mosaic Bronzer-Blend and dust over cheeks, forehead and nose, for sparkling skin, great for red carpet pictures. Oscars Make-up needs to last from the red carpet, through the show, to the after parties Mosaic Bronzer gives skin a quick “pick-me-up” by adding a touch of bronze to he face.
My Makeup.. It is true – I am a makeup junkie. I love playing with makeup and experimenting with different looks that are fun, but natural. On Sunday, I will be sporting a look from the newest collection from Victoria’s Secret Beauty: Very Sexy make-up Diamonds, which launches in April, this collection is infused with real crushed diamonds to capture and reflect light, creating multi-faceted color and over-the-top sparkle for eyes, lips and face!

Victoria’s Secret So Sexy Haircare.
My hair… SEXY is the buzz word for beauty, especially during the Oscars. Smoky eyes, shimmering skin, glossy lips and voluptuous, sexy hair. Victoria’s Secret has created a So Sexy collection for the hair that will be seen all over the red carpet. To read Heidi Klum’s entire Interview click here!
Here is the Q&A with Victoria’s Secret Experts: Makeup artist Linda Hay and Hair Stylist Helena Faccenda:
1) What is the fastest way to get red carpet hair?
Helena Faccenda: A messy bun always looks great and is so easy to do by yourself. If you’re hair is dry and you have 5 minutes, blow dry hair with So Sexy root-boosting spray for a little volume, back-comb at the crown, and gather into a pony tail. Pin the hair around the elastic into a bun and you have instantly sexy red carpet hair.

2) Is there an easy smoky eye that anyone can do?
Linda Hay: No smoky eye is complete without layers and layers of mascara, so the first step is to curl the lashes before you begin applying liner and shadow. I like Victoria’s Secret’s new Very Voluptuous Mascara, which gives me the look of three coats of mascara in one application. Next step is the eye liner, but a fabulous smoky eye is not just black eyeliner that’s smudged; the secret is in the blending. Take a black or brown eye pencil and line the lash line around the entire eye - top and bottom - except the inside quarter of the lower lash (it looks too severe and aging if lined here).

Victoria’s Secret Makeup Expert Linda Hay and Heidi Klum.
Then, take a coordinating palette of 3 - 4 powder eye shadows, like Very Sexy Mosaic Eye Shadow in Smitten. Apply the darkest shade, like a charcoal grey shade, on top of the eye liner and blend up and out. Blend in a brownish shade into the crease of the eye, but don’t take the shadow above the eye crease. I like to take a light shadow, either a silver or gold shade, and apply to the lower lash line for a fresh and sexy look that makes the eyes look open and awake. And there you have it - a simple, sexy smoky eye.
3) What is the most fool proof way to have that radiant, glowing skin?
Linda Hay: Whether it’s the red carpet, a runway show or a photo shoot, glowing, sun-kissed skin always looks gorgeous. I always ask my client to exfoliate the night before or morning of the event so we start with a fresh and smooth surface. I like to apply a (Victoria’s Secret) 50/50 “cocktail” of Bare Bronze Gleaming Self-Tan Tint (for instant bronzing) with Bare Bronze Daily Glow Moisturizer (for moisturization and a fool-proof self-tan).

Victoria’s Secret Bare Bronze Collection.
I top bronzed skin with a shimmer powder like Sexy Little Things Ooh La La, drawing a line with the fluffy shimmer brush along the front of the arm from shoulder to fingers, and on the front of the leg from thigh to toes. This will help visually slim and make the skin glow when the camera’s flashbulb pops. The secret to a good shimmer powder application is drawing an imaginary line from the shoulder to the fingertip and the top of the thigh down to the toe. Don’t apply shimmer all over the arms and the legs because the light will reflect like a big mirror and objects will appear larger than they really are!

The shu uemura Eye Lash Curler has long been one of shu uemura’s most iconic tools for eyes, winning many beauty awards for its design and superb eyelash curling effect. Ror spring 2008 shu uemura introduces the new Mini Eye Lash Curler that is small enough to control individual segments of the eyelash. The petite design of the shu uemura mini eyelash curler allows you to curl your lashes in precise sections-with no pinching or pulling. The result is a naturally defined eye-opening curl.
