Blumarine Fall 2010 Hairstyle with Wella

Backstage at Milan Fashion Week with Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals creating the hair look for Blumarine A/W ‘10.

The Look: Glunge, a combination of Glamour and Grunge

The AW ’10 Blumarine show in Milan, “Street Deluxe,” featured a contemporary, urban variety of casual luxe shapes with body conscious silhouettes and textured surfaces. This glamorous collection featured fringing which both concealed and revealed in a game of seduction. Sassy, super-tall models strode down the catwalk showing this eclectic collection to full effect.

Eugene Souleiman created a hair look that mixes romance and futurism to create soft feminine styles that combine lightness and texture.

The Glunge hair look was inspired by the urban romantic nature of the clothes and was both groomed and slightly disheveled and helped to continue the theme of playing with contrasts. Hair was wild and sexy and created a sense of movement on the catwalk. This look is for real women who enjoy their feminine power and are not afraid to show it.

“I call this look Glunge; a combination of Glamour and Grunge. This is roughed-up, played about with hair that you know has been done but not sure how. It’s feminine yet at the same time wild and is a celebration of sexiness and power. The Glunge look seems typical of some of the relaxed hair looks we are seeing on the catwalk this season.” Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals Care and Styling.

Get the look: Start with freshly washed hair. With a large round brush blow dry out from a centre parting to create moderate root volume. Use System Professional Startup on the ends of the hair to hydrate and create shine and improve hair quality. Take a large section of hair and weave a finger through this section so you retain 50% of the hair. Use a large tong, tong half way down the hair section to create loose curls. Once cooled, loosen the curls with hands so that they combine with the straighter hair to produce a textured, unstructured, wild look.
