BODKIN BEAUTY FW11

BODKIN BEAUTY FW11

This week at the Standard Hotel, Eviana Hartman presented the Bodkin FW11 collection. The effortlessly sustainably chic clothing was complemented by flawless skin, hair and makeup. From top to bottom, the evening was focused on being eco concious, from the clothes, beauty products and even the Kombucha Brooklyn being served for guests.

When the models arrived, they were sent to Tata Harper, who prepared their skin for make up. Tata Harper used her all natural product collection to give BODKIN models, glowing and radiant skin. She used her Regenerating Cleanser to rinse off any impurities. She then applied her Hydrating Floral Essence followed by her Rejuvenating Serum and Rebuilding Moisturizer. The end result: skin that looked makeup ready and picture perfect.

After the models skin was refreshed, hair was created by the Pure Abba team led by stylist Joseph Anthony. The Abba products are a 100% vegan, eco friendly line. Items from root lift to smoothing lotion were used to create a wearable look. Spray Abba Volumizing Root Spray onto 1-t0-2 inch sections of dry hair. Be sure to spray at the base of each section. Use a natural bristle brush, blow dry the hair from the root upward to create volume. Massage Abba Texture Cream liberally into all strands of the hair to create maximum texture. The hair should look organically worn and piecy. Create a center part using a wide-tooth comb followed by creating a low and loose ponytail. If the hair length doesn’t allow for this, then use your hands to pull the hair back and away from the face in a low, over the shoulder fashion.Dishevel the hair with your fingers and use Abba Firm Hold hair Spray to keep the hair in place. To complete the runway style, gently loosen the pieces from underneath the ponytail to create a natural look.

To complete the look, MAC makeup artist Nadine Luke applied minimal clean make up. The focus was on using mineral products, and she then added splashes of color to mimic the Bodkin collection. Focusing on the skin, faces were prepped with MAC’s Prep + Prime for glow and completed with their Set Powder to lock in the look during the presentation. Fluid eyeliner was added and Studio Fix mascara to both top and bottom lashes. By using Mac Brush 263, Nadine was able to eliminate clumping. She also used blush in Pink Spoon, which is bright, but ultimately gave the perfect look because it was applied with the right tools. Bodkin’s real focus was on the lips. One of a Kind, to be released in June, was used with plum lip liner.

Best put by designer Eviana Hartman, “It’s like a kinder gentler cool”.
