Maintaining its long-standing tradition of supporting children’s charities, Kiehl’s, the venerable New York-based purveyor of fine quality skin and hair care, is pleased to announce a collaboration with internationally renowned New York artist KAWS, to lend a helping hand to children in need. With the shared vision of creating safer, more sustainable environments for children, the Kiehl’s and KAWS partnership will raise awareness though the sales of the Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection, where 100% of net profits from the sale of each product will be donated to children’s charities around the world.

In addition to designing a colorful, optimistic label, KAWS has designed the “Peace. Love. Kiehl’s.” holiday window campaign to be unveiled this holiday season in stores in the US and around the world in an effort to raise more awareness for the charitable mission.

Kiehl’s iconic Creme de Corps, a cult classic since the 1970s, has traditionally been an ideal gift for Kiehl’s customers – men and women alike – and will be available in three sizes with KAWS’ limited edition artwork. The classic and original Creme de Corps body cream is enriched with elegant, skin-nurturing ingredients such as Jojoba Butter, Shea Butter, and Sweet Almond Oil. It is rich in skin-nurturing ingredients and ideal for hydrating extremely dry skin.

In the US, 100% of net profits will support RxArt, a non-profit national organization, committed to fostering artistic expression and awareness through the challenging, yet rewarding task of engaging young patients through contemporary art in pediatric hospitals.

Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection: Considered the most hydrating, rich body moisturizer in the Kiehl’s line, this super-enriched, nurturing body treatment is formulated with Beta-Carotene, Squalane and nurturing oils derived from Sesame Seeds, Soybeans, Almonds and Avocados; ideal for extremely dry skin; leaves skin soft, smooth and elegantly hydrated; the original, classic formulation and customer favorite for decades. 8.4 oz. $26.50; 16.9 oz. with Pump $44.50; 1 liter $70.00

Available at www.kiehls.com

About KAWS: Brian Donnelly, professionally known as KAWS, began his artistic career as a graffiti artist in the early 1990s, and since then has built an identity that had its genesis in guerilla imagery added to billboards and bus shelters. Through his company OriginalFake, he has released limited edition works. In addition to Kiehl’s, he has collaborated on design projects with Commes Des Garcons, Marc Jacobs, and A Bathing Ape. Recently he has worked with Kanye West to create the cover art for 808s & Heartbreak which appeared on a Times Square billboard. In 2009, his art was selected for the cover of the annual “Best of New York” issue of New York Magazine. Born 1974 in New Jersey, KAWS graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is currently working on his first solo museum show at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, opening June 2010. A book titled KAWS, a survey of his work, will be published by Rizzoli in June 2010. KAWS has been an avid Kiehl’s user since moving to New York City in 1996. His preferred product is White Eagle Shave Cream.

About RxART: RxArt, a non-profit organization, is committed to fostering artistic expression and awareness through the challenging yet rewarding task of engaging young patients through contemporary art in pediatric hospitals. By curating installations in hospital settings, RxArt provides a humanistic and creative surrounding that helps to relieve stress and anxiety, while increasing appreciation for contemporary art. Kiehl’s Since 1851 has been supporting RxART since 2002. For more information on RxART visit www.rxart.net.

As much as we all love summer, the constant flip flop and sandal-wearing can be rough on the heels – literally. Skyy Hadley of As “U” Wish Nail Spa has the perfect solution: a Meals for the Heels Mask.

Take one cup of regular oatmeal and 1/2 cup of regular milk and heat up over the stove, stir until cooked. Add sugar to thicken the mixture, and then let it cool off a bit. When the mix is thickened, apply to your feet. Leave the mask on for about 5 – 10 minutes. The oatmeal soothes dry, itchy or irritated skin, while the milk acts as an exfoliant to help get rid of dry and dead skin cells. Finish off with pure shea butter as a moisturizer and you’re all set.

“St. Ives recognized that today’s beauty consumers increasingly seek products that harness the best of nature’s energy and vibrancy,” said Carl Gerlach, Marketing Director for St. Ives. “Our new formulations deliver the nature-inspired beauty benefits that our customers seek, without sacrificing efficacy or aesthetics.”

The new package design for the reformulated St. Ives products makes it easy for consumers to educate themselves on the products’ origins and cosmetic benefits. Key natural ingredient information is prominently featured along with a “smear” of the formulation so that consumers can visualize the look and texture. Also, a new benefit bar on the front of the packaging spotlights each product’s unique benefit.

As always, St. Ives uses eco-friendly packaging solutions and post-consumer recycled materials (PCRM) whenever possible. Additionally, St. Ives sources its formulations from environmentally-sustainable vendors whenever possible, and never tests its products on animals.

As part of the redesign, the St. Ives Elements line has merged into the overall facial category. New products will be unveiled in the coming months, along with an accompanying advertising campaign.

Facts About Pediatric Cancer:

Pediatric cancer is referred to as an “orphan disease” because there is little or no profit to be made by the pharmaceutical companies and the reason why they ignore pediatric cancers for the most part.

Each year in the U.S., nearly 13,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. That’s the equivalent of two average size classrooms diagnosed each school day.

Today about 75% of children diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors yet in the U.S. cancer remains the leading cause of death from one year through adolescence; more than any other disease. In the early 1950s, less than 10 percent of childhood cancer patients could be cured, proof that research can and is making a difference.

Historically, some of the most basic and essential treatment strategies now employed in the fight against cancer – such as multi-agent chemotherapy and combined modality therapy – were developed through pediatric cancer research.

In the U.S., combined, the cancers of children, adolescents and young adults to age 20 are the sixth most common cancer in the U.S.

Recent reports indicate that nearly two-thirds of childhood cancer survivors experience significant medical problems resulting from their original cancer and/or its treatment.

I’ve been trying to interview Lisa Price the fabulous founder of Carol’s Daughter for quite some time now. And, finally, here it is!

I’m so excited to share with you Lisa’s story of an incredible journey creating a sought after skincare and fragrance line: Carol’s Daughter.

In this interview Lisa Price talks to me about her fascination with fragrance. The Carol’s Daughter Philosophy. Why did she choose Jada Pinkett Smith and Mary J. Blige as the faces for her brand, and what’s new with Carol’s Daughter.

Marta Walsh: When did your fascination with skincare begin?
Lisa Price: It wasn’t so much a love for skincare as it was a love for fragrance which began when I was a little girl. I started creating my own scents and creams because I loved to experiment—it’s always been a hobby and passion of mine.

MW: At what point did your love for making your own skincare products in the kitchen turn into a promising business?
LP: After some time of working as a writing assistant for The Cosby Show, and creating personalized scents and products for the cast, my mom encouraged me to make a small batch to sell at a local church flea market. I nearly sold out on the first day!

MW: What is Carol’s Daughter philosophy?
LP: Every Carol’s Daughter product I create is made with love, and inspired by my own life. Each product is truly unique and created especially for my customers, who are part of the Carol’s Daughter family. The idea is not just about looking good, but feeling good inside and out, comforting your body and spirit. Carol’s Daughter is also about having a strong sense of family as well as love and respect for yourself and others.

MW: Why did you decide to name your brand: Carol’s Daughter?
LP: When I was trying to come up with a name I made a list of things that I was and a list of things I wanted to become. There were other things on the list, like Robert’s daughter and Gordon’s girlfriend. But when I said Carol’s daughter, I got goosebumps. It sounded right. After all, it was my mother Carol’s unwavering love and support that gave me the courage to turn my hobby into a business in the first place.

MW: Mary J. Blige loves the Almond Cookie Collection, and Jay Z keeps it smooth with Ocean Scrub. Why are these products are so easy to fall in love with?
LP: My products are created with love, and I think the homemade aspect really resonates with a lot of people who want something special. Every product has a story, and I think that really shines through.

MW: Where do you draw the inspiration from when creating your skincare collections?
LP: Each product I have tells a story. Some of them come from family, such as my mom or grandmother, others from our friends of the family and many of them from the suggestions of many of our customers. Their comments and feedback mean so much to me.

MW: Jada Pinkett Smith and Mary J. Blige are the familiar faces of Carol’s Daughter. Why have you chosen these women to represent your brand?
LP: These wonderful relationships came about when celebrities started using my products and telling each other how much they loved them. I met Will and Jada through DJ Jazzy Jeff who was first a fan of my products, and Mary is such a wonderful member of the family – she is everything Carol’s Daughter is about

MW: Which is your Carol’s Daughter all time favorite product?
LP: Hair Milk. I love all of my products, but if I had to make a choice, the one thing I could not do without is Hair Milk. It is the only product I have found that can make my hair shiny and manageable.

MW: What’s new this year with Carol’s Daughter?
LP: This August Carol’s Daughter is celebrating its sweet sixteen! This month we are also opening a band new store in Atlanta.

MW: What passions do you have besides making our skin beautiful?
LP: I love to spend time with my family and watch movies. I also still truly enjoy creating new recipes and playing around with new ideas in the kitchen.
