Going backstage at Chris Benz fashion show during New York Fashion Week is always exciting to me because I know I’m going to get to see and chat with Lancome’s fabulous lead makeup artist Daniel Martin. Just a reminder, Daniel and fashion designer Chris Benz were the brilliant minds behind one of Lancom’e best selling lipstick (and Marta’s all time favorite) Chris & Tell. New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010. Show:  Elie Tahari Fall 2010. Makeup by Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

Tahari’s Fall 2010 collection is all about texture, and the makeup is no exception. Skin is velvety, soft and natural, with a dusting of blush on cheeks. Bronze and gold shadows are layered on eyes, reflecting metallic hues from the collection. Icy, shimmering lips add the final touch of glamour.

These are the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics makeup used to get the Elie Tahari Fall 2010 runway look:

Skin: Hydrating Face Cream ($50), Hydrating Eye Cream ($45), Foundation Stick ($40), Creamy Concealer ($22), Corrector ($22)

Eyes: Sandy Gold Long-Wear Cream Shadow ($22) and Chrome Eye Shadow in Gold on lower-lid, Bash Metallic Eye Shadow and Indigo Nights Metallic Eye Shadow as liner, Everything Mascara ($22)

The idea of a paper white pale, skeletal, and unemotional models lurking around with dark makeup on is nothing new to Fashion Week. But thanks to the apparently undying obsession with all things vampire, this lifeless beauty trend now seems to have more romanticism, and maybe even more appeal.

At the Georges Chakra Fall 2010 fashion show (below), MAC makeup artist Gregory Arlt kept models faces very pale and focused on a dark lip using MAC Diva lipstick. “The lipstick is the color of dried blood. I call it glampire beauty,” he says. “The look reminds me of a 400 year old glamorous vampire that makes you ask–is she dead or alive? It’s more along the lines of an Anne Rice novel rather than today’s Twilight vampire.”

Lipstick lovers always look forward to fall because it’s the season of the bold lip. If you’re not yet ready to plunge into the deep hues of the glampire beauty trend, there are many interpretations of the more classic crimson look. At Richard Chai, Gucci Westman for Revlon keyed makeup. Lips were defined with new-for-fall Revlon Suede Rhapsody Multi-Use Palette, set to launch in September 2010. First, Gucci applied ColorStay Lip Liner in Red all over the lip as a base, then painted on the deeper red lipstick from the palette which created a matte effect. “The clothes don’t have a lot of color, so I felt a pop of pigment was needed on the lips,” explains Westman.
