LA Fashion Week-Hair & Makeup Backstage at Nicholai by Nicky Hilton
Key makeup artist backstage at Nicholai by Nicky Hilton Fall 2008 LA Fashion Week was Lori Taylor for Smashbox Cosmetics. The makeup look for the show was clean and soft. Eyes are in black, silver and grey with a soft cat eye.

In this video, Lori Taylor farther explains the makeup look at Nicolai by Nicky Hilton:
Lashes depend on the model, only if needed. Cheeks are lightly highlighted without a contour. Lips are in sheer red color gloss. This makeup look goes very well with the hair style for the show, created by lead hairstylist for ghd Hair, Omar Lopez.

I finally met Omar Lopez, ghd’s lead hairstylist. Omar is fabulous!

According to Omar, the look is a bit preppy, sleek, and sort of like a girl with a long hair tied into a ponytail riding horses in an English countryside.

LA Fashion Week-Backstage Hair & Makeup at Jenny Han
We met Victoria Rowe, the lead makeup artist for Too Faced makeup line, backstage at Jenny Han LA Fashion Week.

Marta is waiting to go in backstage at Jenny Han.
Victoria describes the makeup look for the Jenny Han show as “1970’s Halston” and the 1980’s to go with Jenny Han’s jewel toned garments. “Rene Russo meets Christie Brinkley” she added “we are going overboard”.
The colors are intense and metallic. Complexion is moist and dewy. Eyes are heavy and have two looks: look number one is eye shadow in fantasy island green, and look number two is eye shadow in royal purple. Victoria also used Eye Shadow Liquifier by Too Faced ($17.50) to line the eyes.

Cheeks are in Pink Leopard Bronzer (Complexion Perfecting Matte Bronze) by Too Faced ($28.50) which has a platinum ashy shimmer to it. Lips are wet, either in frosty brown or in frosty pink. Victoria Rowe must-have product to achieve the look for the Jenny Han show was Eye Shadow Liquifier by Too Faced.

Interview with Fashion Designer Joseph Domingo
I had the pleasure to meet the fabulous fashion designer Joseph Domingo backstage just before the debut of his Fall 2008 collection at LA Fashion Week.

Joseph Domingo and Marta Walsh at Talking Makeup.
Joseph seemed very passionate about his work and particularly about his latest collection. Needless to say, that Joseph’s collection was one of my favorites at the fashion week. I saw at least 3 outfits that I wanted to have! Now that’s a good sign. I also got a chance to chat with him and learn more about his muse for the show.

Interview with Joseph Domingo by Marta Walsh:
Marta: Can you tell us about the inspiration of your Fall 2008 Collection?
Joseph: My collection this season is Vixen inspired, cat woman, Jessica Rabbit, the film Body Heat. A sexy but strong woman. The waist is form fitted. It’s not short, it’s below the knee. You don’t to show much skin in order to be sexy. It’s more of a silhouette.
Marta: Who do you see wearing your collection, or your ideal mannequin?
Joseph: Halle Berry, Jessica Alba.
Marta: What is the color scheme throughout your collection?
Joseph: Black, red, copper, and purple.

Marta: Where did you draw the inspiration for the color scheme?
Joseph: It’s when I saw a cat woman outfit and it’s just goes from there. A lot of bustiers. The color purple is a classic, and I always incorporate red in my collections. I think red is a very sensual color for a woman, every woman should have a little red dress.
Marta: What is your favorite outfit from the collection?
Joseph: It’s the last piece you are going to see at the runway, a jacket (black three-quarter sleeve satin jacket with embellished back & shoulders with belt). You wouldn’t think a jacket can be sexy, but this one is long, sits on the waist, 3/4 length. It has an embroidery in the back that you can see once the model walks back on the stage. So it’s very dramatic. And I always love drama.
