Inspiration: Rebecca Taylor’s gone downtown, offering this season a dark side: a nod to grunge with rich layers saturated in deep colors like charcoal, black, navy and bordeaux. For hair, Dai wanted to bring to life that edgy, downtown girl feel, a bit of dirty Parisian chic, and did so with heavy fringe bangs and tousled straight hair loosely clipped back.

The inclusion of a female model marks a new direction for Perry Ellis’ advertising, which has traditionally been male-focused. The campaign features Tom Bull, who also opened the Perry Ellis spring 2012 runway show in September at New York Fashion Week, lounging with model Kate Bock. Bock will also be featured unaccompanied in Perry Ellis Swim advertising.

The spring 2012 collection was inspired by an American safari in the “Painted Desert,” which reflects the soft sun-baked color palatte with deliveries such as Sedona, indigo blue and white sands.

“Dusty blues, yellow and corals accent the dynamic linens we are offering which can be found in suiting as well as sport shirts,” said Doug Jakubowski, Chief Merchandising Officer. “The linen throughout the collection is treated in many ways such as washed and chintzed finishes.

The campaign launches mid-February and will be seen on outdoor advertisements and fashion books – including GQ, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Men’s Health, Out, Gotham, LA Confidential, and Ocean Drive. Perry Ellis Swim advertisements will be featured on outdoor advertisements and in select publications.

1. How did you incorporate French Polynesia into the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++?

I love being at my home in French Polynesia, so I wanted to bring as much of the islands into this product as I could. The Galaxaura, for instance, is a mineral-rich, deep sea algae that grows in the warm tropical waters of the Polynesian islands’ tidal zones.

2. How is Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ different from other tinted moisturizers?

It has a serum-like consistency and feel, which is really unique. We’ve also added anti-aging ingredients for preventative measures greater than those found in just a simple moisturizer. And we’ve included more broad-spectrum sun protection than typical tinted moisturizers — SPF 30 versus the usual 20 or 15 — and PA+++, the highest index measurement of protection against UVA rays.

3. What kind of a finish does Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer give the skin?
