QUESTION: Michelle asks Victoria Rowe:

Victoria, I Love your bio and experience by the way? Are you an agent for Elite modeling. I was wondering if you worked with them. I’m not at all the tall runway type. More average/even athletic slim multicultural brown/hazel green. The question I ask…is because I’ve heard your name mentioned with Elite…just wondering….if not it’s here, with makeup, and I like the fact I can “see” how you do it, because it is a true art. Thank you in advance.

ANSWER: Victoria Rowe:

Thanks, Michelle. And no, I am not an agent at all. I’m just a Makeup Artist. I have probably have friends who are models with Elite and have worked on many, many shows over the years that had Elite Models in them but that’s about it. Not sure where that reference was made. Anyway, if you’re asking about Makeup for your skin type or color, we’re going to explore all of that in upcoming articles. Just remember the most important thing to keep your face looking gorgeous and sexy is lots of moisturizer and lots of sunscreen. Focus on Moisturizers that contain high concentrations of Vitamin C (especially for acne and scarring) and use at least an SPF 25+ sunscreen this summer. Keep it Glowy and Fresh!!! Enjoy!!!xo-Victoria:)

Also-Michelle-if you are asking about representation for your “type” of look, I can’t really recommend anything without seeing a picture, but it sounds like you might have a great commercial look (maybe SHAPE magazine if you’re athletic), or possibly Beauty (meaning close-up Face-Oriented Modeling). Not all models are extremely tall, but there are height requirements in most agencies. You may want to consider Commercial Acting if you are outgoing and live in an area you would have access to large markets. :)

Feel free to email us or leave your comments for Victoria Rowe. Victoria will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.

Happy Friday!

Hi, I’m 19 years old and for as long as I can remember I have been interested in all aspects of make-up. I would love to become a make-up artist but am not sure how to start pursuing that as a career. I have investigated some schools in my area, I live in Phoenix. Some people have told me to try and become an apprentice that I don’t need to go to school. Others have said absolutley go to school. Would love for any kind of avvice that you would be able to give me. I’am checking into the Arizona Skin and Make-up Institute in Glendale Az. I so appreciate your time .

    Hi Sami,

Going to a makeup school is a great idea, it could be a good place to network and of course, perfect your skills.

I do think, however, getting an experience in a big city like LA (which is close to Phoenix) or New York, will open your doors into ond day doing makeup for celebrities. Sometimes you need to be where it’s at.

You need to make a decision to how far you want to go with your dream to become a makeup artist. Remember, there is nothing in this world you cannot do!!! You just need to do it, do whatever it takes, and never give up:)

This is just my humble opinion….good luck with everything…and keep us posted:)

    Hi Victoria

I am a big fan of bronzer & have always bought the Estee Lauder (natural fibre) bronzer brush.
Yesterday I went into my pharmacy advising I was looking for something non synthetic, but cheaper than Estee Lauder.
I walked out with a gorgeous soft Elizabeth Arden brush .. but when I got home found the packaging said it was synthetic.
I’m not sure if I should take it back.
Why are natural fibred brushes better than synthetic?
Do you think I would be happy with the Eliz Arden bronzer brush?

Hi Victoria! I have my first formal dance coming up in June (I’m 14) and I’m wondering what type of eye shadow I should use. My dress is blue, my accessories silver, and I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. I want to go easy on the make-up, so I’m just wearing some foundation, pressed powder, and mascara. But I also want to wear eye shadow so I was wondering 1.) what the best color for me would be 2.)what brand you would suggest (I can’t get anything too expensive, something in the CoverGirl range) and 3.) the best way to apply it. Thanks!

I am 6’0 tall and slinder however due to a very diffcult pregnancy I now have horrible stretch marks. Is there a way to cover them with make up? If so what products do would you suggest?
