Pippa Middleton’s Handbag Get The Look With knomo ‘Slim’

The knomo slim laptop pouch is a sleek and slimline design that unzips at the top (preventing against scratching when you open the pouch) while offering easy access to your laptop, and also incorporates a knomo signature zip-pocket at the front – great for holding your iPhone or travel card.

The quilted exterior provides padding for your laptop and the detachable, adjustable strap offers an alternative way to carry your laptop on the move, or like Pippa, you can use the short retractable leather handle. Every Slim also contains the knomo Tracker ID – a unique number stitched into the bag, that once registered on the knomo website, should the bag be misplaced, the finder can call the freephone number and knomo will retrieve the bag and return it to the customer, free-of-charge.

The Slim is available for only $79.95. See www.knomo.com for more details.

Nadja Swarovski, Vice President International Communications for Swarovski Crystal Business: “As the collections unfold, the diversity of crystal accessory design is illuminated through the immense creativity of the artists who have incorporated new techniques and innovations. It is an honour to work with this talented group of designers for Autumn Winter 2010.”

Here’s a sneak peek to Karl Lagerfeld collection for ATELIER SWAROVSKI Autumn Winter 2010.

Visionary – Eclectic – Iconic

His distinctive silhouette, with its slim jeans, white shirt and black jacket, is one in a thousand. His gaze, though masked by smoked lenses, instinctively picks up every particle in the current atmosphere. Designer, photographer, and publisher, multi-faceted artist Karl Lagerfeld has built a world where every line is controlled and every detail has meaning. Form this Cartesian spirit has arisen a hyper-modern and structured style at the top of its form. A look and an attitude transcribed through graphic dress codes that have become emblematic signatures.

For AW10 Lagerfeld creates an Atelier Swarovski couture collection of Inca inspired pieces, with glittering crystal serpents, sacred circles and his signature bows which hit the runway during Paris Fashion week. Look out for the sparkling crystal bracelets and brooches, glimpsed through open coat sleeves, worn over shirts and dresses, styled as fastenings and added as details to lacquered leather hair bands.

Stockists include Selfridges London, Maria Luisa and Colette Paris, Harvey Nichols Hong Kong,
Henri Bendel New York, Beams Tokyo, Corso Como Milan and Seoul in addition to selected Swarovski stores.

Naomi Stokeld, Roxana Zal, and Adrienne Weller are the driving force behind handbag and accessories line, ONE OCTOBER. The goal of ONE OCTOBER is to create designs that are classic and timeless but with an edge.

Naomi was born in Santa Cruz, California and grew up in Latin America. While living in Chile, she became an attorney but always had an eye for fashion and new trends. In Chile she discovered the superior qualities and unique beauty of salmon leather. She recognized the untapped potential of the salmon leather in the fashion market and contacted Roxana, her husband’s cousin, to help her vision reach fruition.

Roxana was born in Malibu, California. A successful actress for most of her life, she has always been drawn to fashion in front of and behind the camera. Between filming she started designing and doing PR for fashion companies. While maintaining her acting career, she spent more time designing, styling, and working in the fashion industry and found a unique fulfillment to her creative drive.

Adrienne grew up in New Zealand, and was always inspired by fashion. After spending time in Italy for university she moved to Los Angeles and started her own clothing line that sold at boutiques such as Fred Segal and Patricia Field. After a few years costume designing and styling, she had segued into PR, but was eager to get back to fashion. She and Roxana met through a friend in Sydney and worked together in the fashion industry, which led to them becoming fast friends. Naomi and Roxana approached her to combine their talents, expertise, and resources, and ONE OCTOBER was created.

GET THE LOOK: The Office’s Jenna Fischer looked beyond gorgeous on the red carpet at Saturday’s SAG Awards 2010. Jenna wore a purple, jeweled, strapless Marchesa gown and beautiful silver accessories. She had her hair pulled in a low, side bun. For makeup, she and her makeup artist Jennifer Pitt wanted to keep makeup fresh and natural looking, with an element of surprise. “Jenna likes to let her real skin show through,” said Jennifer. “With this colorful, glamorous dress, we felt a touch of drama to the eyes would be fun.”

The Breakdown: How to get Jenna’s Sultry Makeup Look at the 2010 SAG Awards

FACE: To keep her skin fresh looking, I started out with shu uemura’s Depsea Hydrabilty Moisturizing Emulsion. I then applied a bit of shu uemura’s UV Under Base Fluid on her cheek bones, under her eyes and on her brow bones. I wanted to take advantage of the product’s smoothing effect and the light-reflecting particles to give her skin a flawless finish. For her foundation, I used the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. They have the amazing ability to be used either for light-weight coverage. Peachy tones look great with Jenna’s skin and went really well with her purple dress, so I used shu uemura’s Glow On blush in M Peach 44.

EYES: To get the look for her eyes, I used shu uemura’s new Eye Shimmer Duo in Glint Blue. The brown base and the blue silver seemed to complement her look and coloring perfectly. I used a dark plum eyeliner along the lash line for deeper definition. To keep the smoky eye fresh, and not too heavy, I decided to line the bottom lid with a soft taupe liner.

LIPS: On her lips I used the shu uemura’s Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine lip colors. They have great pigments with a nice sheer coverage. I blended two colors to get the perfect shade for Jenna. I started with a base of Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine in BG 943 (a pretty nude color) to define and moisturize her lips, and then I added a bit of Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine in OR 520 (a peachy shade) to give her lips a pop of color.

BODY: To complete the look, we moisturized her arms, chest and back and applied Fluid Sheer #5 by Armani to give her skin the same radiant look that her makeup had.

Having the right products and accessories in your work drawer or in your purse is the secret to holiday party beauty success. We asked three always-on-the-go women–a jewelry designer, a communications executive and a college student working in retail–to spill their best day-to-night tips and tricks.

The PR Maven: Bari Seiden

As Estee Lauder’s Vice President of Corporate Communications, Bari Seiden helps drive beauty industry titan’s global charitable activies. As such, she often has to rush straight from the snazzy EL offices to a holiday fiesta.

For an impromptu night out, Bari will swap her larger purse for a smaller evening bag. “I also try to glam it up with some fun accessories either a broach, necklace or even a chain belt,” says Bari. “I pick one major accessory so I’m not too overdone.” For black-tie events, Bari will bring in a dress and accessories to the office, since she’s usually working up to the last minute.

The CHANEL Metiers d’Art Collection 2009-2010 Paris-Shanghai

For some years, CHANEL has been ensuring the destinies and preservation of the skills of the Maisons d’Art: metal worker Desrues, feather maker Lemarié, embroiderer Lesage, shoemaker Massaro, milliner Michel, goldsmith Goossens and flower maker Guillet. Since 2002, Karl Lagerfeld has dedicated an annual collection to them, presented in exclusivity in a city that is part of, or is destined to leave its mark on, the history of the brand. In Shanghai on December 3rd, he unveiled his 8th edition of this collection, called “Paris Shanghai”. Shanghai is a city in constant evolution, a cosmopolitan theater to an extraordinary cultural boom, and where CHANEL has recently inaugurated its third point of sale in continental China over an impressive 480m2.

As a prelude to the show, the film “PARIS SHANGHAI, A FANTASY”, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, tells the story of Coco Chanel’s imagined voyage to China.

This collection brings together the expert skill of these Parisian artisans and the CHANEL ateliers to make a true French luxury. On an 85 meter long barge set on the Huangpu river bordering the Bund, more than thirty models have come from the four corners of the globe to bring Karl Lagerfeld’s tableau to life.

With Shanghai’s skyscrapers making a backdrop, Karl Lagerfeld revisits the Eastern Empire to give us his contemporary vision of CHANEL. One by one, his inspirations appear – the “Terracotta Army”, the urban romanticism of Chinese cinema, the glittering chic of the 1930s and the opulence of the imperial court. The slim sleeves hint at the shape of pagodas, the waist is small and slightly structured, the ruffles build up over one another. In black, red, khaki and midnight blue, the high-collared suits, richly embroidered fitted coats, knitwear with raised patterns and tunics inspired by the traditional Mandarin Qipao gown give structure to shoulders and slim the waist.

Accessories have not been forgotten. Long earrings and large pointed hats frame the face. Necklaces, brooches and cuff bracelets abound, bringing together pearls, coins and stones with opulence. On feet we see delicate ballerina flats with a strap and aged cork sole, leather boots and others in embroidered felt reaching the thigh, and precious sandals with sculpted heels. Bags, whether embroidered, sequined, in lambskin or in satin, are reinvented in a multitude of colors to create a fantasy.

Among the 800 guests were Vanessa Paradis, who flew in especially from Los Angeles, young actresses from the Asian scene, CHANEL ambassadress Anna Mouglalis, and all the star power that Shanghai offers with its influential people, celebrities and artists.

A fusion of East and West, the “Paris Shanghai” collection is when Karl brings Coco’s dream to life.
