IRVINE, Calif. (June 7, 2011) /PRNewswire/ — Allergan, Inc. (NYSE: AGN), the maker of LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03%, announced today the launch of the 2011 LATISSE® Wishes Challenge. Inspired by the tradition of blowing on an eyelash to make wishes come true, the campaign is gaining momentum for the second year by rallying women in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

CHRISTINA HENDRICKS KICKS OFF THE LATISSE® WISHES CHALLENGE WITH THE GOAL OF RAISING $500,000 FOR THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION®

LATISSE® user and Emmy-nominated actress Christina Hendricks is encouraging women to join her to help raise $500,000 so a wish can be granted in every Make-A-Wish® chapter across the country. LATISSE® is the first and only prescription treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to grow lashes longer, fuller and darker for those with inadequate or not enough lashes (eyelash hypotrichosis).

Consumers can participate in the LATISSE® Wishes Challenge by donating a minimum of $20 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the campaign’s website, www.LatisseWishesChallenge.com. LATISSE® will double all donations up to $250,000 until November 30, 2011. In addition to helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the first 10,000 participants making the minimum donation will receive a LATISSE® free trial certificate, which they can take to a doctor to determine if LATISSE® is right for them. And, if participants invite two friends to join them in the campaign, they will also receive a $20 rebate off their next purchase of LATISSE®. Hendricks is also sharing her experience growing her lashes with LATISSE® throughout the campaign, since her doctor determined it is right for her.

“I’ve always felt my lashes were short and thin, and in my profession, I wear a lot of false lashes and makeup, which take a toll. So when LATISSE® became available, I was curious to learn more. My doctor talked with me about lashes, and I was surprised to learn that some women may notice their lashes thinning over time. Women who notice these changes in their lashes now have the option to talk to their doctor about LATISSE® and see if it’s right for them,” said Hendricks.

“LATISSE® is also a brand that contributes to children, and I couldn’t think of a better cause to support than the Make-A-Wish Foundation. When I was seven years old, I saw firsthand the difference a wish can make in the life of a child when a girl in my class got her wish to meet Erik Estrada.”

“The support generated by campaigns such as the LATISSE® Wishes Challenge has been invaluable in helping the Foundation grant the wishes of children nationwide,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. “For brave children like Isaac, who wished to meet a pirate and dig for buried treasure, and Sydney, who wished to swim like a mermaid in a lagoon in Bora Bora, a wish experience helps them feel stronger and more able to battle their illnesses. We encourage everyone to join the LATISSE® Wishes Challenge to help us grant the wishes of even more children and improve the quality of life for them and their families.”

“Allergan is proud to continue its commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In just two years, LATISSE® and the women across the country who use it have raised nearly $1.5 million to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant children’s wishes,” said David Pyott, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allergan, Inc. “Women appreciate supporting a brand that gives back and that may also provide a solution for themselves. Through the LATISSE® Wishes Challenge, women will join Hendricks to support a wonderful cause and learn more about LATISSE® to see if it is right for them.”

Vicki Iovine is now facing her own new horizons as a recently divorced mother of four after 27 years of marriage. As Vicki embarks on a journey that she’s coined her “next 27 years,” she plans to not only continue sharing kindness with others, but also taking the time to be kind to herself. With this commitment to spreading kindness and giving back, Vicki is thrilled to be an ambassador for the My Expressions of Kindness campaign.

Through a quarter of a million dollar donation from Allergan, Inc., the maker of BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), the campaign benefits three deserving charities, including Dress for Success, an organization with a mission that’s very close to Vicki’s heart: providing women with the tools they need to succeed. Allergan will make a $25 donation on behalf of each consumer who shares their acts of kindness online.

A little bit more about Vicki: she is a former member of the board of directors of the Special Olympics, as well as a former television producer and radio talk show host. She was Playboy magazine’s Playmate of the Month for its September 1979 issue and was photographed by Arny Freytag.

In this interview Vicki Iovine talks to Marta Walsh about her passion for writing and her successful “Girlfriend’s Guide” book series. Her collaboration with BOTOX Cosmetic. Gives advice to anyone considering BOTOX for the first time. Makeup bag. Why Eunice Kennedy Shriver is one of her biggest inspirations. And future plans.

Marta Walsh: Where do you call home?
Vicki Iovine: I live in Los Angeles, CA—the city in which I was born.

MW: What drove you to write and how did your idea for writing “Girlfriend’s Guide” book series come about?
VI: With my first pregnancy, I felt like I was doing everything wrong—at least according to the books that I was reading. Remember, this was nearly 23 years ago and most pregnancy books were written by male doctors or postmenopausal women. I got too fat, I was too horny, I was cranky and nauseous and I was craving coffee. I ended up with a spectacular son in spite of my ineptitude, but even that didn’t seem to make me feel like a “good mommy” right away.

I knew so much more when I got pregnant again a year later, but I still got too fat, burped unexpectedly and nearly stalked my husband for his attentions—in spite of the fact that I closely resembled the Dancing Hippos in “Fantasia.”

By the time I got pregnant for the third time in four years, I was a little angry that I felt like such a complete failure as a pregnant woman. I started to suspect that it wasn’t me who was wrong, but maybe all the “experts” I’d been listening to. There seemed to be so many Rules of Pregnancy being spread around by people without ovaries, or at least any that still functioned, and by other Stepford Wife Mommies who tended to hide the brutal truths and play up their own perfect pregnancies.

By the time I had my fourth baby in six years, I decided the whole Perfect Pregnancy thing was a conspiracy against encouraging mommies-to-be to follow their instincts, do their best, and then let Mother Nature take care of the rest. That’s when I wrote the Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy—turns out, millions of other imperfect moms were feeling my pain and we bonded like sisters.

MW: How did your collaboration with BOTOX Cosmetic come about? What does your role as a campaign ambassador for BOTOX Cosmetic: My Expressions of Kindness campaign entail?
VI: I’ve received treatment since 2002 with BOTOX Cosmetic from a licensed and trained physician to treat my “11″ lines between my eyebrows and have been very happy with the results. You know I can’t help but share with my Girlfriends when I find a great thing.

As a long-time fan of the product, I was thrilled when Allergan, Inc, the maker of BOTOX Cosmetic, asked me to be an ambassador for the My Expressions of Kindness campaign. As part of the campaign, Allergan has donated up to a quarter of a million dollars to benefit three deserving charities–Children’s Action Network, Make it Right, and the organization I’m supporting with ultimate Girlfriend, Vanessa Williams — Dress for Success.

MW: What advice can you give anyone considering BOTOX Cosmetic for the first time?
VI: It’s important to see a licensed and trained physician to treat your “11” lines, and also be sure to do your research so you can ask the right questions.

MW: Why in your opinion BOTOX Cosmetic is a subject women shouldn’t be embarrassed to talk about?
VI: First of all, any mother should be respected regarding nearly all of her decisions because she’s earned the right to make choices. If I got over being embarrassed about having several medical interns reach their arms up to my cervix when I was in labor at a teaching hospital, I certainly can’t be embarrassed about anything I do to take care of myself. I find the whole subject of shame regarding women; for their weight, their career decisions, their mothering decisions, their age, their fertility and on and on and on, so annoying that I’d like to do anything I can to relieve it.

MW: You are recently a divorced mother of four after 24 years of marriage. What advice can you give to women in similar situations on how to keep strong?
VI: What I’m most proud of about my divorce is that the father of my kids and I are still great friends and we speak almost daily, if not several times a day, to discuss how the kids are doing and what their schedules or concerns are. Our children have been placed ahead of ALL other considerations—NO MATTER WHAT!

My other advice is to trust that there is life after divorce—which I now know from experience—and it’s great. Sometimes it’s lonely, especially at night, but I took up hobbies like knitting, reading and jigsaw puzzles with the kids so that I was occupied at home with them and not taking on a big social life for the first year.

And, of course, I think that my Girlfriends who have been there, done that, were my greatest comfort. They were my dates to movies, writers’ workshops, dinners and many of the social functions I used to attend with my former husband. Girlfriends, at least for me, seem to be the answer to most of life’s crises.

MW: What’s in your makeup bag?
VI: Carmex, lipstick and translucent powder. I’m terrible about refreshing my makeup throughout the day and the best I can do is avoid chapped lips and a shiny forehead.

MW: What was the first film you’ve ever watched on a date?
VI: This is really aging me, but it was the Franco Zefferelli production of “Romeo and Juliet.” I cried so hard that I think I scared the poor guy to death. He was just there to see “Juliet’s” bare breasts, I think, which all the boys in middle school were talking about!

MW: What and who inspired you?
VI: As a child, I was an avid reader of biographies for school kids. I loved the stories of Betsy Ross and Abigail Adams and Eleanor Roosevelt. When I got older and realized that I wanted to write for a living, I was hugely influenced by Tom Wolfe, Nora Ephron, Erma Bombeck and Charles Dickens (who was also a popular writer of serialized articles and stories.)

As an adult and for the last 25 years, my inspiration and mentor, of sorts, was Eunice Kennedy Shriver. I met her through my volunteer work for Special Olympics, the sports training program for people with intellectual disabilities, before I got pregnant with my first child and I have devoted much of my time to that amazing program ever since. I have learned the power of “Fierce Mothers,” as I call them—the women who will do anything in their power to make sure that their children will not be overlooked or excluded. We mothers are so strong and determined that we can do almost anything where children are concerned.

Eunice Shriver passed away a year ago, and I still miss her every day. She taught me everything from how to listen to children, how to join in with them in their play, how to raise money and awareness for a movement and even how to respond to an invitation to the White House!

MW: What’s next for Vicki Iovine?
VI: In late 2011, my next book, Girlfriends’ Guide to Teenagers, will be released by Pocket Books. In the meantime, I am a featured writer for HuffingtonPost.com—usually on Fridays in the Living Section. Oh yeah, and I am in love again, Girlfriends!!

Allergan, Inc. has announced the national launch of the JUVÉDERM “Switch Up” campaign, spearheaded by television personality Dayna Devon who will share ways to maintain a fresh appearance as women approach milestone birthdays.

Devon, who turns 40 this month and is a mother of two young children, has developed an easy strategy for women to switch up their current routines and take advantage of effective medical aesthetic treatments including JUVÉDERM dermal filler, the number-one selling hyaluronic acid dermal filler in the United States.

“I’m celebrating the ‘big 4-0′ this year so there’s no better time than now to switch up my routine to help me look and feel like the best version of myself,” said Dayna Devon. “As a mom, wife and TV host, I’m always on the go and have little time for myself but I still want to look my best. In my 30s, I began receiving treatment with a dermal filler when I noticed these deep lines starting to form around my nose and mouth that looked like two parentheses and couldn’t be filled in with the creams I was using.”

Devon continued, “When JUVÉDERM became available a few years ago, I switched because it has a smooth formulation and is the only dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid that is approved to last up to one year from initial treatment. Now a new formulation called JUVÉDERM XC includes lidocaine and is available, so I am even more excited about the treatment because I get the same smooth, natural-looking results with a more comfortable injection experience. Plus, I don’t have to spend time waiting for the messy topical anesthetic to take effect.”

Women who want to switch up their routines can become a “fan” of the official JUVÉDERM Facebook page to receive personal tips on how to maintain their best appearance from Dayna Devon every month. In addition to her experiences with JUVÉDERM treatment, Devon will also share tips on energizing fitness routines, making health a priority and expanding horizons with new hobbies to help women look and feel their best.

Derek Jones, M.D., renowned Los-Angeles based dermatologist, says milestone birthdays are the perfect time for patients to switch up their aesthetic routines. “Just like our bodies, skin changes as we age,” said Dr. Jones. “One common complaint I hear from my patients in their 30s and 40s is the appearance of the pesky parentheses due to lost facial volume. To treat those lines, I have been recommending JUVÉDERM smooth-consistency dermal fillers for years and now JUVÉDERM XC with lidocaine offers my patients another reason to make the switch.”

Robert Grant, president of Allergan Medical, a division of Allergan, Inc. said, “Our JUVÉDERM ‘Switch Up’ campaign is a great way to educate women and men about hyaluronic acid dermal filler treatments and encourage them to have a dialogue with a licensed and trained aesthetic-specialty physician about clinically proven treatments that deliver on the promise to help treat wrinkles in the lower part of the face.”

I’m excited to share with you my interview with Didiayer Snyder an Australian model and an American television personality known for her roles on the ABC Network program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Amazing Vacation Homes on the Travel Channel.

In this interview Didiayer Snyder talks to Marta Walsh about her first breaks as a model and TV personality. Her collaboration with Botox Cosmetic. The best part about her roles on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Amazing Vacation Homes. Personal style, beauty philosophy, what’s in her makeup bag, and future plans.

Marta Walsh: Where do you call home?
Didiayer Snyder: California is home. My husband and I just moved to a cute place at the beach.

MW: What were some of your first breaks as a model and TV personality?
DS: My very first job was a TV commercial in Australia for a clothing company, and it wasn’t long after that when I hit the runways.

MW: What do you enjoy most about your roles on ABC Network’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Amazing Vacation Homes on the Travel Channel?
DS: When I worked for Amazing Vacation Homes on the Travel Channel, I really enjoyed meeting the architects. I really love architecture so getting inside their minds was fascinating. On ABC Network’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, it’s definitely the communities that make my week!

MW: How did your collaboration with Botox Cosmetic come about?
DS: As a television personality, motivational speaker, wife, daughter and friend, being my best self is as much about giving back to others as it is about taking care of myself. But a few years ago I noticed that the two lines between my brows – the ones that form an “11” – had deepened and my facial expression didn’t reflect the “me” I felt inside. I did some research and spoke with my doctor, who recommended treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic. I’ve not only been able to lose my “11,” but I’ve regained the confidence that my face expresses how I truly feel inside.

This commitment to being my best self through helping others is what drew me to the BOTOX Cosmetic My Expressions of Kindness charitable campaign, launched by Allergan, Inc., the maker of BOTOX Cosmetic. The campaign celebrates acts of kindness around the country by inviting women and men who are treated with BOTOX Cosmetic, or are considering speaking with their physician about treatment, to fill out a simple My Expressions of Kindness profile on Express KindnessCampaign.com to help raise a quarter of a million dollars for three deserving charities.

MW: What advice can you give anyone considering Botox Cosmetic for the first time?
DS: My advice is to speak with his or her physician first. As with any medical procedure, side effects can occur, so speak with your physician about the risks and benefits of BOTOX Cosmetic, as I did. For more information, please see BOTOX Cosmetic full Product Information, including Medication Guide.

For me, it’s been wonderful to join the ranks of men and women around the country who value BOTOX Cosmetic – not only for the aesthetic results, but also as part of the My Expressions of Kindness charitable campaign. Whether you have experience with the product or have been talking with your physician about treatment, you too can join us in encouraging expressions of kindness!

MW: How would you describe your personal style and what beauty means to you?
DS: My personal style would be comfort, comfort, comfort. Inner beauty is the most important beauty we can have. Kindness looks better on everyone than any designer dress.

MW: What’s in your makeup bag?
DS: Mascara, lip gloss and an eyebrow pencil—three things I can’t leave home without.

MW: What was the first film you’ve ever watched on a date?
DS: I didn’t date much when I was younger, but one of my best movie memories was watching Bridges of Madison County with my husband when we first dated.

MW: What one or two things some people may not know about Didiayer Snyder?
DS: I do free online mentoring for teens that are looking to pursue television careers.

MW: What’s next for Didiayer Snyder?
DS: I started a non-profit and I am heading to Haiti to build 50 homes for Earthquake victims.

Visit the BOTOX Cosmetic official website for additional details.

I would like to thank Didiayer Snyder for a brilliant interview! xo Marta Walsh

I couldn’t be more excited today sharing with you my interview with fabulous Vanessa Williams!

Vanessa Williams doesn’t need too many introductions but here is why she is so great: Vanessa is a singer, songwriter and actress. She made history on September 17, 1983 when she became the first woman of African descent to be crowned Miss America. Williams then launched a career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations.

Vanessa Williams is also known for her role of Wilhelmina Slater on the hit TV series: Ugly Betty which has been renewed by ABC for a fourth season, and will air on Friday nights at 9:00PM Eastern/8:00PM Central starting Friday October 9, 2009.

In this interview Vanessa Williams talks to Marta Walsh about the BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” campaign. Gives advice to women considering BOTOX® Cosmetic for the first time. Lists her favorite skincare products for face and body. Gives us a sneak peek into her makeup bag. And shares some of her future projects.

Marta Walsh: What is the most memorable moment of your career?
Vanessa Williams: It would have to be my opening night on Broadway “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1994). As a musical theater major, it was the ultimate success!

MW: When did you first become interested in BOTOX® Cosmetic?
VW: Six years ago, I noticed fine lines developing between my brows that made me look stressed, so I spoke with my dermatologist about my skin care routine and non-surgical options. Together, we decided that BOTOX® Cosmetic was the right option for me. It’s a quick treatment, and my natural looking results last up to four months!

MW: How do you feel BOTOX® Cosmetic changed the appearance of your skin?
VW: BOTOX® Cosmetic helped to reduce the “11” lines between my brows.

MW: What advice can you give to women who are considering BOTOX® Cosmetic for the first time?
VW: All women – and men! – who are considering treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic should speak with a licensed, experienced physician whom they trust. Our faces are dynamic and expressive, so it is important to speak with your physician to discuss your expectations. To find a physician in your area, visit www.ExpressSuccessCampaign.com, click on “Is BOTOX Cosmetic right for me?” to find a doctor in your zip code.

Central Terminal Tuesday June, 30, 2009 benefiting the not-for-profit Dress for Success organization that helps
disadvantaged women succeed in the workforce.
(David Goldman/AP for Chandler Chicco Agency)

MW: What compelled you to team-up with Allergan, Inc. with their “BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” campaign?
VW: I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am a fan of BOTOX® Cosmetic. So when Allergan – the maker of the product – asked me to join them and Dress for Success for this campaign, I jumped on board.

To honor working women, Allergan is donating a quarter of a million dollars to Dress for Success to help provide economically disadvantaged women with the tools they need to enter the workforce with confidence.

Also, through the “BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” campaign, we will be educating women about BOTOX® Cosmetic at several community events around the country and supporting Dress for Success. I invite everyone to go to www.ExpressSuccessCampaign.com and come out to one of our community events where the cost of entry is simply a donation of nearly new professional attire for Dress for Success.

If you aren’t in one of the local markets, know that up to $50,000 of the total $250,000 donation will be generated through an online drive, with Allergan donating $2 to Dress for Success for each of the first 25,000 consumers who visit and register on the web site.

Vanessa Williams, right, and Dr. Doris Day, grab a donated blouse off a rack to dress a mannequin as they participate in
the BOTOX Cosmetic: Express Success Rack Relay Race Tuesday June, 30, 2009 in New York’s Grand Central
not-for-profit Dress for Success organization that helps disadvantaged women with donated clothing for the workplace.
(David Goldman/AP for Chandler Chicco Agency)

MW: Why is it easy for you to be honest about incorporating BOTOX® Cosmetic into your skincare regimen?
VW: I don’t see any reason to be secretive. As an actress, I’m often asked about products I use to maintain my appearance. I love my results from BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments — so why wouldn’t I share that with other women? There have been more than 20 million treatments in the U.S. since its FDA approval in 2002, and I think we all should feel free to talk about it!

MW: Aside from BOTOX® Cosmetic, what are some of your favorite skincare products for face and body?
VW: Perfekt tinted skin gel, which creates a great natural appearance; Mila Moursi moisturizing oil; and Proactiv deep cleansing wash.

MW: What can we find in Vanessa William’s makeup bag?
VW: My favorite eye brow pencil is a Japanese brand that has a screw tip, so it doesn’t need to be sharpened.

MW: What is your favorite lip gloss?
VW: MAC Cosmetics lip gloss in “revealing.”

MW: What is your favorite shampoo & conditioner?
VW: Acquage moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

MW: What are one or two things some people may not know about Vanessa Williams?
VW: I really love cars – sport cars with leather seats. Also, on the weekends I love to listen to Irish music! I’ve actually incorporated some of these sounds into my new album “The Real Thing” with Concord Records.

MW: What’s next for Vanessa Williams?
VW: Well, as part of the “BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” campaign, I’ll be hosting local events in San Francisco, Dallas and Miami. If your readers live one of those cities, they can RSVP to attend at www.ExpressSuccessCampaign.com .

Also, we are getting ready to film season four of Ugly Betty, which is moving to Friday nights. I’m looking forward to filming the musical episode later this year. Also, I will be on tour for my new album – check out my Web site for upcoming tour dates!

It was a pleasure to interview Vanessa Williams, you can find out more about Botox Cosmetic at the official website: www.botoxcosmetic.com

According to a recent national survey (n = 2,403), four in five people define their personal best as a combination of feeling their best, looking their best and fulfilling their responsibilities. Recognizing this, long-time friends, Comaneci (46) and Spitz (58) will travel the nation offering tips and insights on how women and men can define their own personal gold standard and achieve their goals.

Nadia Comaneci who describes her personal best as taking care of her inner and outer self. “As a mother of an active two-year old boy, I am constantly on the go and trying to find time to take care of myself,” said Comaneci, who today runs a gymnastics school with husband and fellow gold-medalist gymnast, Bart Conner. “About five years ago, I realized that while I exercised and ate right most of my life, there was nothing I could do on my own that would get rid of those two stubborn frown lines stamped on my forehead. They looked like an ‘11′ and made me upset with the way I looked, and that’s when I decided to talk to my physician about BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. I attained a perfect ‘10′ at age 14, and I’m working hard to stay close to that in all that I do.”

Mark Spitz, who holds the world record for the greatest number of gold medals achieved in a single Olympic game and was named one of the sexiest men over 50 by MSN.com, decided to talk to his physician about getting treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic for the first time. “As a financial advisor and motivational speaker, my facial expression is a very important part of my message,” said Spitz. “When I am serious, my ‘11′ makes me look angry and unapproachable rather than congenial. I knew I had to do something about it, but for a long time, I just didn’t know what my options were. Then I heard about BOTOX® Cosmetic and spoke to my wife about it. She encouraged me to see a great doctor who answered all my questions.”

Spitz is not alone. The survey also found that men are four times more likely to consider aesthetic treatments if their significant other recommends them. “Today, more and more women bring their husbands into my office for a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment to lose their ‘11,’” said Dr. Wechsler. “Men are now learning what women who are treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic have known for a long time – it’s not about looking younger, but about achieving a natural look.”

Also, According to acclaimed dermatologist and psychiatrist, Dr. Amy Wechsler, the Your Personal Best mission of encouraging people to define their own personal best and focus on total wellness is often a key factor to personal satisfaction. “I always tell my patients that their health and personal state of mind are closely connected. Simply put, improving your state of mind can be achieved by exercising, making healthy food choices and taking care of your skin. As a dermatologist, I recommend a personalized skin care regimen to help my patients achieve the results they’re looking for. By helping them improve their skin, I am putting them a step closer to achieving the ultimate mind-body connection.”
