Matrix celebrity stylist Mark Townsend created Amy Adams’ beautiful red carpet hairstyles for both the Los Angeles screening and New York premiere of “Julie & Julia.”

For the New York premiere of “Julie & Julia,” Matrix celebrity hairdresser, Mark Townsend, wanted Amy’s hair to be modern and glamorous to match her Carolina Herrera gown. “I’ve been very inspired lately by hairstyles from the 80s with lots of volume,” said Townsend.

Mark started by spraying Biolage volumatherapie Bodifying Spray Gel into Amy’s damp hair…

…and blow dried it with a medium size Spornette Mixed Bristle round brush to get a good deal of volume in her hair. Next, he set her hair with hot rollers, making sure to wrap the hair around the roller from roots to ends to give it a nice wave. Once the hair was cool, he removed the rollers and brushed out her hair with a flat brush, parting it to the side. To add some texture and shine, he sprayed Biolage Shine Endure Spritz into her hair and gave it a scrunch.

Lastly, he sprayed down any flyaway hair with Vavoom ShapeMaker hairspray…

“For the Los Angeles screening of ‘Julie & Julia,’ I was inspired by beauty shots from the 80s that I’ve collected over the years, very Carol Alt,” Townsend comments.

He added Vavoom Gold Heat Blow-In Volume Protective Lotion to Amy’s damp hair…

…and blow dried it with a Mason Pearson brush, lifting the roots for some height and keeping the ends straight. To add some texture to the hair,

…he then rubbed Vavoom Loosely Defined Texture Cream into his hands and then raked them through Amy’s hair. “I love the way it makes the hair super shiny and piece-y looking.”

Emily Deschanel was seen at last night’s ARCONA launch party for Eco-Beautiful, a guide to natural beauty & wellness authored by celebrity makeup artist Lina Hanson. The event took place at Vie Eco Boutique in West Hollywood and featured ARCONA mini facials, as well as eco-friendly makeovers.

Spencer played up Emily’s beautiful sea green eyes with a subtly smoky, yet luminous look. He kept the rest of her face neutral and fresh, with a hint of a raspberry cheek and sheer raspberry shimmer on her lips. The overall look was inspired by Emily’s vibrant vintage dress and her beautiful glowing skin.

SKIN: Spencer prepped Emily’s skin by first cleansing it with ARCONA’s triad pads. He then spritzed ARCONA’s Mineral Magic and applied ARCONA’s Magic White Ice to hydrate her skin thoroughly.

FOUNDATION: Spencer kept Emily’s foundation to a minimum, evening skin tone with Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals in Latte. He set her foundation with ARCONA’s Sunsations Mineral Makeup in Almond for a healthy-looking, radiant finish.

UNDEREYE: Spencer dabbed a bit of ARCONA’s Peptide Eye Serum to retain moisture. Eyeshadow & Spencer created Emily’s subtly smoky eye look by starting with a neutral bronze shimmer (Nvey Eco Organic Eye Shadow 16), topped with Jane Iredale Eye Shadow in Cloud Nine (shimmery lavender) on her lid. He then lined her eyes with Inika Mineral Eyeliner 05 midnight blue, smudging Brown Nvey Eco Organic Cake Eyeliner.

Mascara: For seductively lush and lengthy lashes, Spencer applied Korrres Natural Products black mascara.

Lips: Spencer added a hint of raspberry color with Aveda Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Rhubarb 601.

She also used outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk on their hair before blow drying for extra frizz protection. Lastly, Hinkle finished both girls hair with quick dry 18 instant finishing spray. “Quick dry 18 instant finishing spray was light and non-intrusive to the hair,” said Hinkle. “It had a light, clean fragrance that the girls didn’t mind because it was so non-offensive.”

For the men, Hinkle prepped their hair with Redken For Men go clean shampoo followed by finish up conditioner to clean hair from product build-up and add moisture. She also added a bit of polish up pomade and worked it through damp hair for light control and high shine.

On Clifton Collins Jr., she used outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk and then rough-dried it, finishing with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for added control to his extensions.

“Redken is one of my favorite lines to use on-set, it is perfect for protecting hair from the elements that come with filming outside in the sun or under bright camera lights that can damage hair,” said Hinkle.
