FELICITY JONES: DOLCE & GABBANA THE MAKE UP INTRODUCES ITS NEWEST FACE

Recipient of the Special Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival for her role in Like Crazy, Felicity Jones’ captivating presence, beauty and provocative youthfulness brought her to the attention of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

For her Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up debut, Felicity lends her expressive face to the role of an “aristocratic sauvage girl” for Khol Collection, launching in stores in January 2012.

Representing a heady mix of sensuality, confidence and beauty, Jones offers a sense of divine contradiction. Classically beautiful yet modern in attitude, her audacious gaze is impossible to ignore.

Celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson worked with Chloe Moretz for the premiere of Hugo on Monday, Nov. 21st, 2011, in New York City.

Makeup Inspiration: ”Chloe’s stylist Nell Kalanji chose a beautiful nude-brownish beige Dolce & Gabbana dress for Chloe to wear. Hairstylist Gregory Russell did a beautiful simple up-do anchored with a stunning CHANEL pin at the base of the hair. For makeup I decided it would be best to work in pretty nude tones and make texture the focus of the look. “

How to get Chloe Moretz’ makeup look

“I prepped Chloe’s skin with La Mer Oil Free Moisturizer and Eye Cream, and then applied NARS Pro Prime which helps makeup look fresher longer and stay on for hours.

I started by applying Shu Uemura Nobara Stick Foundation where needed with the Urban Decay Cruelty Free Blush Brush. I almost always use this brush for foundation application in small circular motions for a flawless but natural finish. I then used Tom Ford Illuminating Pen in Lavender Voile on the cheekbones, brow bones and the cupids bow of the lip to give skin a pretty youthful glow. I set foundation with Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in the t-zone and around the nose and mouth, leaving the outer edges and highlights of the face free of powder.

For blush, I used Burberry Blush in Cameo on the apples of the cheek blending downwards slightly and back towards the hairline. I used then used Burberry Blush in Rose as a pop of color to the middle of the apple and blended the two together with a clean blush brush.

On eyes I used CHANEL Quadra Shadows in Dunes over top of CHANEL Ombre D’eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in source. I applied Source all over the lid and around the eye, creating an iridescent base. I then used the varying browns in the Dunes quad on a soft brush to create a sophisticated nude smoky eye. I curled lashes using the CHANEL Eyelash Curler and applied my favorite CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara.

Finally, on lips I used Trace Lip Crème from Beauté Cosmetics applied from the tube and then gently patted with my finger to push it to the edges of the lip to create a pinky beige lip that completed the romantic nude look we were going for.”

At Sunday’s, February 27th, 2011, during Milan Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, Redken Creative Consultant Guido finished Milan Fashion Week by creating two separate looks – one feminine, a Sicilian-inspired loose twisted chignon and the other a bit more masculine, a French twist quiff.

“The looks at Dolce & Gabbana were a classic play on femme fatale, where women played with their masculine and feminine sides, it is very fun and liberating. The feminine look is how I would imagine a Sicilian woman to put her hair up for the day in a soft updo – very matronly and womanly.”

Feminine: layer lift 07 length elevating spray gel + forceful 23 super strength finishing spray

Masculine: structure wax 17 classic styling wax + forceful 23 super strength finishing spray

Create the Look

Feminine:

Prep hair with layer lift 07 for extra body and volume and roll 4 large rollers in crown portion of head.

Take out rollers and create a big beautiful blow with messy center parting to help prep for the updo making sure to blow dry the front bang portion forward over the forehead.

Lightly twist sections on either side until they meet in the back of the head and secure with pins.

Gather rest of hair and twist into a very loose chignon pinning into a swirled chignon.

Let bits fall out naturally around the face.

Finish with forceful 23 for added hold but spray lightly as to not look weighed down or heavy.

Masculine:

Prep hair with generous amounts of structure wax 17 classic styling wax.

Leave out a section at the front and pin this up into the 50s looking quiff.

Part on the side and gather hair at nape of neck and twist up toward top of head pinning as you go up. Until all hair is pinned in.

Pull out bits on the side just in front of the ears and let drop down 2 inches to create ‘sideburns’ and then secure remaining end of hair back into the rest of the updo.

Finish with heavy amounts of forceful 23 to hold the look in place.
