<p>Few weeks ago I had the luxury to visit the <strong>Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa</strong> at the <strong>Biltmore Fashion Park</strong> on 24th St &amp; Camelback Rd in <strong>Phoenix Arizona</strong>. Needless to say, Biltmore is one of the fanciest locations in Phoenix and I&#8217;m always up for chic trips. Before I tell you my story I want to say: Wow! I had the best facial in a long time thanks to <strong>Lucy Olson</strong> (can one have such great connection with your facialist? I know I did. Lucy was the sweetest.)</p>

<p>As soon as I walked into the red door spa in Phoenix I felt immediately relaxed. I changed into a robe and comfortable slippers and even signed my form in that very relaxing outfit. The music while having my <strong>Antioxidant Defense Facial</strong> was so relaxing. Although Lucy was very friendly she insisted on stop talking as soon as my facial began. Isn&#8217;t this what we want? She understood what it takes to get relaxed and escape the day to day life.</p>
<p><span id="more-19685"></span>While at the red door spa I fell in love with the <strong>PREVAGE</strong> skin care line by Elizabeth Arden. Already a big fan of <strong>INTERVENE</strong> by Elizabeth Arden I was glad to be introduced to another star skin care collection.</p>

<p>“When we work with celebrities, we aim to put together a project which is representative of their life,” said <strong>Ron Rolleston</strong>, executive vice president for global fragrance marketing at <strong>Elizabeth Arden</strong>, of the new women’s launch. “Mariah’s happily married, has a movie coming out in November, which already did well at Sundance, and she is releasing a new album in September. She’s got a lot of joy and optimism in her life right now, and we wanted to express that in a fragrance.”</p>
<p><span id="more-6246"></span>Perfumer <strong>Olivier Gillotin</strong> of <strong>Givaudan</strong> worked with Carey to create the modern opulent floral, which has top notes of neroli, lotus blossom and dewy green apple; a heart of tuberose and gardenia, and a drydown of white musk and exotic woods. “When I first met with Mariah, I was inspired to create a glamorous, opulent floral,” said Gillotin. “I wanted the scent to be radiant but to also evoke a warm sensuality. This fragrance has iconic white florals, which convey a powerful message of feminine sensuality and classic glamour.”</p>
<p>The collection includes eau de parfum in three sizes — 1 oz. for $42, 1.7 oz. for $55 and 3.3 oz. for $65 — as well as a 0.5-oz. parfum, $250, and a 6.8-oz. body lotion, $28.</p>

HALSTON WOMAN and HALSTON MAN are inspired by the classic Halston fragrances and reflect the casual elegance and luxury of the Halston fashion aesthetic.</p>

Incorporating notes from their predecessors, HALSTON WOMAN and HALSTON MAN stay true to the legendary design sensibility of <strong>Roy Halston</strong> himself.</p>
<p><span id="more-3654"></span>“The Halston fragrances are considered among the great fragrances in history. We wanted to create an homage to the original Halston men’s and women’s fragrances. We drew upon the original fragrance structures and crafted fresh interpretations of the original fragrance accords. We then washed the iconic fragrance bottles with a warm platinum finish which is beautiful and modern. We did this work with a reverence and respect for the brilliant work that came before us. <p>To create HALSTON WOMAN and HALSTON MAN, Elizabeth Arden turned to one of the masters of modern perfumery, <strong>Carlos Benaim</strong>, Vice President of Perfumery at <strong>International Flavors and Fragrances</strong>. Early in his career, Mr. Benaim trained with renowned perfumer, <strong>Bernard Chant</strong>, creator of the original Halston fragrance. In subsequent years, Mr. Benaim also collaborated with Halston to create the limited edition fragrance <strong>HALSTON 101</strong>. Mr. Benaim created these new fragrances by introducing new luxurious ingredients and updating the structures of the original scents.</p>

<p>What was the inspiration for the Pretty campaign?<br />
&#8220;I&#8217;ve always enjoyed watching a woman apply her makeup and get ready to go out. It started with my mother and sisters. There&#8217;s is a real one-on-one connection between a woman and a mirror. The idea for the TV was to capture that sweet, personal moment between a woman and a mirror when she pleasingly sees that she&#8217;s pretty-and how being pretty affects everything around her.&#8221;</p>

<p>For the print portion of the shoot we wanted to capture an image that defines &#8220;pretty&#8221; in a single image-from the model and mirror to the wardrobe, furniture, props and of course that amazing wallpaper.&#8221;</p>
<p>The print and television advertising was co-directed by husband and wife team, photographer <strong>Coliena Rentmeester</strong> and film director <strong>Tom Dey</strong>.</p>
<p>How did you create the look for pretty print and TV advertising?</p>
<p>Coliena Rentmeester, Photographer: &#8220;We were inspired by the name Pretty. For the visual images we started with the idea of using the wallpaper, enlarging the flowers, adding more flowers in the same palette for an excessive, dramatic, warm environment. We wanted to use the colors of the floral itself, to keep it tonal. And the lightning is essential to create a mood. We want someone to look it and say. &#8220;That&#8217;s really pretty.&#8217;&#8221;</p>

<p>Tom Dey, Director: &#8220;For  the TV commercial, we wanted to create a visual personality and identity for this perfume. It starts with a woman who is getting ready to go out and fragrance is the last touch. We wanted to create a sense of &#8217;sillage,&#8217; which in French means an image that you take away, like the wake of a boat, that creates a lasting impression-just like the fragrance. The challenge was to achieve this with he elements of our set, the mood created by the lighting, to watch the room transform and the flowers come to life. And the technical challenge of shooting an over the shoulder against a mirror.&#8221;</p>
<p>How do you work together?</p>
<p>Coliena Rentmeester, Photographer: &#8220;We often work together and working together can be a challenge, but a challenge that results in progress. We bounce ideas off each other, we compliment each other. I bring a softer vision, more fantasy to the set. Tom is more rational. We both love to work with light. We appriciate each other;s aesthetic. I guess you could say it&#8217;s a working marriage that works.&#8221;</p>

<p>Tom Dey, Director: &#8220;Working together on the Pretty campaign, we had a lot of freedom. We were able to explore different ideas, to create something fresh and new. To bring together all the creative people. And of course create continuity between advertising visual and the commercial.&#8221;</p>
<p>What was the concept for the set? <strong>Maria Santana</strong>, Set Designer: &#8220;The original concept was simply pretty, feminine and modern. It was fun to build the set by taking the traditional wallpaper and the flowers, then scaling then up and then making it all come to life. We worked with a special effects person who created puppets of the flowers and then animated them.&#8221;</p>
<p>What was the concept for the styling? <strong>April Hughes</strong>, Stylist: &#8220;It all starts with the wallpaper, the colors create the palette. The look is modern but feminine, with a little bit of old Hollywood glamour, a sense of fantasy. It&#8217;s an image of a woman with a sense of style and softness, who is not filly. but definitely feminine.&#8221;</p>

<p>Smoky Eyes: &#8220;I wanted to give Tina a soft smoky eye, so I chose a gunmetal shade instead of a harsh black. The <strong>Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil</strong> is the perfect tool as it delivers a great amount of pigment and it blends beautifully. Adding a little shimmer on the inner corners and the upper lid creates a 3 dimensional finish that really pops.&#8221;</p>

<p>Sexy Lashes: &#8220;To accentuate Tina&#8217;s sexy feline shaped eyes, I added some individual lashes on the outer corners of the upper lid. Curl the lashes and add 2 coats of mascara before adding the lashes-this way you can see where the gaps are and just fill them in.&#8221;</p>
<p>Bold Lip: &#8220;A natural lip is a great compliment to a smoky eye. I chose <strong>Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick</strong> in Pink Honey Pearl. It&#8217;s sheer enough to not compete with the eye but contains a hint of gold to add some warmth to the face.</p>

<p>&#8230;For added staying power, line the lips with a liner the same color as your lip, fill in the line and then layer the lipstick over the top. To create an even sexier pout, add a sheer layer of pink gloss &#8211; I used <strong>Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip Gloss</strong> in Pink Pout.</p>
