Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali transformed the already beautiful “Twilight” star Ashley Greene into a gorgeous vision at last night’s “New Moon” premiere in Los Angeles. “The look was classic 60’s,” reports Vanessa. “Well-defined eyes with lots of lashes, a strong brow and clean skin with subtle pink/coral cheeks and lips.”

How to get Ashley Greene’s makeup look at the “New Moon” Premiere:

To start, Vanessa evened out Ashley’s “nearly flawless skin” with Lancôme’s Effacernes concealer in Light Bisque underneath the eyes. “It gives clean, fresh, flawless coverage,” she said. Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick followed. Lancôme’s Blush Subtil in Shimmer Pink Pool topped the apples of the cheeks.

For Ashley’s dramatic eyes, Vanessa swept YSL’s Fard Lumiére Aquarésistant Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Sands over the entire eye. To define and elongate the lash line, Vanessa used Lancôme’s Artliner in Black and lined the inner rims with Shu Uemura’s Painting Liner in White. The finishing touch: a few generous coats of Lancôme’s Ôscillation Mascara in Black for “seductively lengthy lashes,” says Vanessa. Ashley’s brows were sculpted with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Poudre in Brunet.

Finally, Lancôme’s hot new lipstick from the Pout-á-Porter series—L’Absolu Rouge in Chris & Tell—made a sneak peek appearance. The gorgeous hue, which was created for designer Chris Benz’s Spring show, will be available in February. The Chris & Tell waiting list is open at the Saks Fifth Avenue New York counter. Call 212-940-2033 to be added to the waiting list.

At this year’s Emmy Awards, Vanessa Williams went for all-out glamour. She chose a dress with lots of color and her hair was down, long and loose, for the first time in three years. To balance out the look, legendary makeup artist Sam Fine focused on a flawless skin with a pop of color in the cheeks and lips.

“It all starts with great skin,” says Fine. “It’s a long night, with long hours and we don’t get to go with them. Foundation and powder are so important.”

To get Vanessa’s great face, Sam started with cream foundation. “Cream foundation will last throughout the night,” states Sam. Next, he used bronzer to contour the face, drawing attention to each feature.

Vanessa’s dress made Fine to do a little shopping. “Because Vanessa’s dress choice was such a strong color, this forced me to re-address the neutrals I had in my kit,” admits Fine. “I wanted to go for a little more color in the cheek, as well as the lip, so I needed to find the perfect coral-pink shade, because true pink can be hard to wear.”

To highlight Vanessa’s gorgeous eyes, Fine says the look wasn’t about color, but really carving the eyes. “I never match the gown and there was a lot of color elsewhere so I needed to balance it out with a neutral eye,” Fine says. “I used a gorgeous brown shade of eye shadow with a really great shimmer of pearl near the inner corner of the eyes. Then I lined the inside with a beige liner to bring life to the eye. Of course, a false lash, because you can’t hit the red carpet without one, then top it off with a few coats of mascara on the top and bottom lid.”

Products Sam Used:

- Cream Foundation (Sam loves Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick – an essential for great skin)
- Bronzer (Try a matte when creating this look, stay away from shimmer)
- Coral Blush (Knars in Exhibit A or Cargo in Laguna are among Sam’s favorites)
- Eye shadow (Use a trio with brown, shimmering pearl and vanilla to create this carved out eye)
- Mascara (Waterproof lasts longer and will come in handy during an emotional acceptance speech)
- Lipstick in a pink/coral (Sam went searching for the perfect shade with the right consistency and found it in Dolce & Gabana’s new line. The shade he chose was Goddess – make it your splurge purchase!)

Elisabeth Moss looked stunning on the red carpet last night and as she took stage with her fellow cast members to receive the award for “Best Drama”, for “Mad Men”, the hit series in which she stars. Celebrity makeup artist, Lauren Kaye Cohen shares how she created Elisabeth’s ethereal look:

SKIN: To get Elisabeth’s radiant-looking, flawless skin, I began by using a combination of shu uemura’s Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation and the new Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation (in areas that needed more coverage) both in shades 784. I applied both foundations with shu uemura’s Natural 18 Goat Brush. I then dabbed a bit of YSL Teint Parfait Complexion Enhancer in 02 Rose Pearl with my fingertips across the tops of her cheekbones. I finished with shu uemura’s Face Powder in Matte 5yr Light, applying it just to the center of the face with shu’s Natural Brush 27.

EYES: For eye shadow, I used YSL Fard Lumière Aquarésistant Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Sands and Copper Brown and then layered Giorgio Armani Maestro Eye Shadow Quads in 02 Floral and 05 Desert with shu uemura Portable Natural Brush 10. I wanted to keep the eyes very clean and really make them all about the lashes, so I applied Lancôme’s new Ôscillation Powerbooster lash primer followed by Ôscillation Mascara in Black, which looked beautiful!

LIPS: For lips, I used shu uemura Lip Drawing Pencil in PK 382 and then combined the Rouge Unlimited OR 531S lipstick with shu’s gorgeous new Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine lipstick in OR 520. I gave this lipstick to Elisabeth for touch-ups throughout the night.

Lauren finished by telling us, “I’m so proud of Elisabeth for being nominated for ‘Best Actress’ in the company of Glenn Close and Sally Field, wow!”

Summer 2009 Red Carpet Beauty Trends: This summer celebrities like Lauren Conrad, Giselle Bundchen and Hilary Duff all appear to have just stepped off the beach and onto the red carpet. Christina Zilber, make-up stylist and founder of Jouer Cosmetics teaches us easy ways to fake a healthy luminous look.

How To Get Healthy Luminous Skin: To protect skin from excess oil, Christina begins by using fingertips to apply Jouer Essential Matte Touch where needed. This botanical mattifier can be used under makeup or alone to purify skin and calm irritation, while firming and moisturizing with Vitamins C, D, & E.

The most important aspect to the celebrity look is flawless skin. Even out your complexion using the Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint. This lightweight hydrating tint evens out imperfections and fades the appearance of fine lines. Rich SPF 20 protects from UVA and UVB rays while Ginseng and Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract deliver antioxidants to skin promoting a healthy complexion.

Follow by applying Jouer’s Mineral Powder Bronzer in “Suntan” for a golden bronze. Perfect for all skin tones, this oil-free mineral rich powder is loaded with Japanese Green Tea Powder and antioxidants to help protect skin throughout the summer months. Christina then recommends applying a light peach or pink blush to the apple of the cheek for a fresh, youthful glow.

Complete the look with a smooth beautiful finish by adding Jouer’s Age Repairing Perfector. This mineral age-repairing perfector enhances and evens out complexion while concealing the appearance of redness and other blemishes without the sensation of feeling heavy.

All products available at Henri Bendel in New York or at www.JouerCosmetics.com
