Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial

Talking Makeup is pleased to present a Smokey Eyes makeup tutorial by the lovely Lois Price who is a student at Staffordshire University in England. I love my UK friends, you know:)

WATCH: Lois giving you tips on how to create a smokey eye look without breaking the bank! “Have fun with it and create similar looks!!” says Lois.

1. Firstly moisture your face and allow it to soak in, then apply a thin layer of foundation onto your face including eye lids- this will help the eye shadow stick and stay on longer

2. Apply a line of eyeliner to the bottom of your eyes to create definition.

3. Next apply the grey shadow to your eyelids- apply as much as you want.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Watch Marta Walsh talk about some of her favorite NARS Cosmetics products: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. NARS Sheer Matte Foundation. And, NARS Orgasm Illuminator.

It’s a beautiful spring day here in Scottsdale Arizona and I’m feeling my makeup:)

Marta’s FOUNDATION

For an IMAN Cosmetics contest (guys, please wish Marta luck and cross fingers I win) I was asked about my FOUNDATION. Who or what makes up the support system that helps me achieve my success and happiness, that is.

Just like in makeup a good foundation is the first and most important thing you need to achieve a beautiful and complete makeup look. If your skin is uneven, red, and not flawless because you’re are using the wrong foundation no other makeup will work to fix it or make it look better. Same thing with my life, my family and the love I have everyday is my foundation for everything else I do. Some people operate from pain. I operate and create from love, happiness, and good foundation. My fabulous husband Matt and my two boys Jake and Kieran give me a sense of confidence to make things happen. Without them I’m seriously in the market for a makeover. A new foundation perhaps? 🙂

The evidence to Marta’s good FOUNDATION:

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Foundation

Bobbi Brown Spring 2010: The Makeup Malfunction: Foundation Meltdown. The Makeup Solution: Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Foundation NEW a long wearing foundation that is formulated to last all day.

“This oil-free formula give skin a soft-matte finish that looks healthy and natural—never heavy. And it’s buildable, so you can customize your level of coverage.”– Bobbi Brown

This oil-free, long-wearing foundation balances oil and combination skin, so you’ll have a soft-matte, even-looking complexion without needing to pile on powder throughout the day. Sponge-like powders absorbs excess oil on the surface of the skin, while emollients lock in moisture to ensure skin stays perfectly balanced. The transfer-resistant formula helps create a barrier against heat and humidity for 8 hours of wear so that even in the most humid climates, makeup stays in place. In addition to a range of 20 yellow-based shades, this formula contains an oil-free emulsion system that delivers a blend of finely milled pigments, spherical powders, and mica for natural-looking coverage.

NARS Fall Winter 2010 Trend Report: Marc Jacobs

New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010: NARS Cosmetics created the makeup look at the Marc Jacobs AW2010 show.

INSPIRATION: “I was inspired by the film La Vie des Autres. I wanted the models to have a dirty look as if the hair and makeup had been slept in,” said designer Marc Jacobs, who specifically requested Barbarella lipstick to be used on the models’ lips.

LOOK: “This look is what you’d see on a girl from the East Village or St. Germain des Pres-an existentialist with a modern twist,” said NARS Cosmetics Founder and Creative Director François Nars whose application technique included using his fingers to achieve the faded effect. “These girls are sexy and cool. Their makeup looks dirty and worn out as if it has been on all night but still translates beautifully on the runway.”

Lancôme & Chris Benz Go Gothic Chic for Fall 2010

New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010: Seattle native and downtown New York denizen Chris Benz saw all of his influences collide in a spectacular way on Monday, Febuary 15, 2010, for his Fall 2010 presentation. The collection mixes the patterns, textures and utility of clothes made for the Great Outdoors as worn by the renegade, Outward Bound Debutante.

Makeup Tutorial: Lead makeup artist Daniel Martin (who helped create the Chris & Tell shade with the designer for Spring 2010) wanted a “makeup” makeup look, so he and Chris settled on what they’re calling Gothic Chic. The eyes and the lips were given equal attention. The eyes were smoky in gradations of shimmery charcoal and chocolate. Daniel used the new Ombre Magnétique, a mousse-like cream shadow, in black, layered with Color Design Eye Shadow in Guest List, an opaque espresso shade. For the lashes, several coats of Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black, and for the eyeliner, Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner in Noir along the waterline, completed the look.

Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway at the Los Angeles Valentine’s Day Premiere

Makeup Tutorial: It was a lovefest in Los Angeles last night at the premiere of “Valentine’s Day.” The star-studded flick, directed by Garry Marshall, features a bevy of A-list beauties, including Lancôme ambassadors Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway. Here, their makeup artists fill us in on what they used to create their red carpet looks.

For Julia Roberts, celebrity makeup artist Genevieve wanted to balance sexy, lined eyes with a muted mouth. Genevieve lined Julia’s eyes with Lancôme’s Artliner in Noir. Next, she swept Sweetie, a sheer pink shadow from Lancôme’s Color Design Eye Shadow Quad in Haute Sunset, along the lids. Dirty Pink, from the same quad, went on the crease. Loads of Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black completed the eye look. For the lips, Genevieve lined with Lancôme’s Le Lipstique in Fraichelle followed by the new Color Design Matte lipstick in Pink Preview (coming in March). To dilute the lipstick color, Juicy Tubes in Tickled Pink was applied for a soft pout.
