Here’s a sneak peek to G-Star RAW Magazine featuring Q&A with the lovely Gemma Arterton.

G-Star is fascinated by your authenticity – the fact that beneath the Hollywood glamour and gloss there is a tough, real person with a tough, real upbringing. You embody their values as an authentic denim brand that makes real work-wear and has, by a twist of fate, become a glamorous fashion label. Do you relate to that?

Of course! I think that’s one of the things that I love about G-Star. I feel like a tough girl in a fancy frock sometimes, and I think G-Star is the same. I like the contradiction between glamour and durability. Sometimes people are shocked when they meet me because of this contradiction. I’ve often been told that what I say doesn’t match the way I look… and I think that’s a good thing! Surprise is exciting.

G-Star asked you to be in the spring/summer 2011 campaign as you embody a RAW Elegance, a confidence that G-Star wants to promote in its advertising campaigns. How important was the idea of being a powerful woman to you in your decision to do the campaign?

Well I’m a woman and I like to be in control, especially creatively. I knew that working with G-Star would give me the opportunity to do this- although it has to be said that the campaign was a huge collaboration, which made the experience very fun. You can be in control but also be open to playing with everyone else’s ideas.

What did the photographer (and director) Anton Corbijn tell you to think about when on the set finally shooting the campaign?

Anton allowed me to be myself which I think is the most important thing. I love music and dancing, and he really brought the fun, frivolous, free spirit out of me. It’s amazing to have a photographer who is also an astoundingly brilliant director as the two go hand in hand, especially if you want to get a lost of spontaneity and personality into a shoot.

What was it like being a Bond Girl and what did you want to bring to your character that previous Bond Girls may not have had in the past?

I was just thrilled to get the job, I was walking around the set with stars in my eyes! I always loved the old Bond films from the ‘60s so I wanted to bring a bit of that English cheekiness into my characterization. Even my character’s name was cheeky: Strawberry Fields!

Amsterdam/London, January 14th, 2011 – On the evening of January 13th, 2011, G-Star presented London RAW Night: an eclectic mix of performance, art, music, fashion and film; curated by British actress and new face of G-Star’s Spring/Summer 2011 advertising campaign, Gemma Arterton.

A crossover of guests from different artistic fields, were welcomed at One Mayfair; an old church that had been turned into part gallery, part performance stage, part disco and part art installation.

Gemma Arterton sparked the opening of London RAW Night, which featured highlights from the iconic work of Anton Corbijn through a visual exhibition projected throughout the venue. Further additions to the program included Beautiful Crime, who created a live urban art piece, inspired by a Corbijn image of Gemma, and music from Romy of The xx DJ Set. Throughout the sensorial experience, G-Star’s signature style was clearly visible, showcasing abstract denim art objects placed throughout the church.

RAW Nights bring G-Star’s core DNA to life, presenting cutting-edge talents from across the creative world in intimate and surprising locations. In this way, audiences directly experience the concept of ‘unexpected combinations’ that underpins G-Star’s clothing collections, as well as forming the foundation for its various, global entertainment platforms, including 3301 RAW Records, RAW Rhythm Festival and RAW Gallery.

Previous RAW Night host cities have included: Tokyo, where a nightclub was transformed into a high-end art museum; LA, where a car park was turned into a street gallery; and New York, where an armoury became a nightclub. These events were curated by unexpected artists including Dennis Hopper, The United Nations, Duran Duran, Phoenix, Hiromix and Marc Newson.

Gemma Arterton in CHANEL Beauté. CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee worked with Gemma Arterton at the Los Angeles premiere of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on Monday, May 17th, 2010.

How to get Gemma’s glamorous, fresh makeup look by CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee:

“I prepped Gemma’s skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum. On her eyes, I used a beautiful violet grey shadow from a new palette launching in July – CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Enigma.

I lined the inside of Gemma’s eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, also launching in July. This beige shade is a nice alternative to white – it gives a more modern effect and is not quite as harsh, making the eyes appear wider. Finally, I applied two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. I used a generous amount of CHANEL Hydramax + Active Lip Care on her mouth, and added just a bit of CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Dynastie for a touch of colour. To complete the look, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Fandango on the apples of her cheeks.”

Impossible to resist introducing Bond Girl 007 from Avon.

No James Bond 007 movie is complete without a Bond Girl, the modern-day epitome of enticing empowerment and serious sex appeal. Women want to be her; men want to be with her – she’s impossible to resist! Now with a little help from Avon and their seductive new fragrance, Bond Girl 007, every woman can feel like a Bond Girl-smart, empowered, resourceful, confident and sexy.

To create Bond Girl 007, Avon collaborated with the James Bond entertainment franchise; the result? An irresistible cocktail of glamour and mystery. The new fragrance will debut this fall in conjunction with the release of Quantum of Solace, the latest film in the Bond series. British actress Gemma Arterton, who plays the role of Agent Fields in the upcoming film, will be the face of the new fragrance. A smart and sexy Bond Girl, Agent Fields is sent by MI6 to bring James Bond back to safety. In this role, Gemma embodies the glamour and power that is quintessential to Bond Girls.

Bond Girl 007 is an alluring blend of velvety florals, cool freshness and warm woods featuring top notes of white peach and orange blossom. Mid notes include jasmine, calypso orchid and freesia, followed by a drydown of amber, cashmere wood, patchouli and musks.

“Bond Girls have always embodied a sexy mix of femininity and cleverness,” says Gemma. “My character, Agent Fields, is determined, empowered and sexy. It’s so exciting to share a piece of her through the Bond Girl 007 fragrance.”

Like Gemma’s Bond Girl alter-ego Agent Fields, the new fragrance reflects a modern take on the classic Bond bombshell icon. With Bond Girl 007, every woman is as irresistible as the famous femme fatales for which the scent is named.

Housed in a sleek, curvaceous silhouette-shaped bottle, complete with a sophisticated James Bond-inspired cap, the fragrance evokes the glamour and sensuality of the Bond Girl appeal. Remove the cap to trigger this explosive new fragrance.

Gemma Arterton was scheduled to appear globally in print and television advertising for the Bond Girl 007 fragrance beginning in October 2008.

Price: $30.00
Available: From October 2008
Where to Buy: Avon Representatives nationwide, 1-800-FOR-AVON, www.avon.com
