Gwyneth Paltrow’s 2011 Emmy hairstyle was created by celebrity hairstylist David Babaii. According to David, the look was titled “straight edgy” taking a straight look and disheveling it to create soft texture.

Here’s how to…

To begin, he took a small amount of Couture Colour Pequi Oil (www.couturecolour.com) and massaged it into the hair prior to blow drying…

After the hair was completely dry, he parted her hair down the middle and divided strands into 4 sections (sides, crown and nape). To straighten, David used the IT&LY HAIRFASHION 1″ Digital Flat Iron (www.italyhairfashion.com) with even temperature control. He started at the nape working up toward the crown and sides. To finish and create movement, he added an additional amount of Pequi Oil to his hands running it through her hair and scrunching to create this “straight edgy” look.

I was super impressed when last week Gwyneth Paltrow turned up for a fan greeting at BookHampton in East Hampton, New York, before the  Hurricane arrival with no makeup, shorts, and flip flops. To do this you need to be super confident within your self, cool, and be a real beauty. I wish more women feel like that.

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Angela Levin worked with Gwyneth Paltrow at The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Show on Sunday, February 13th. Marta Walsh has the scoop on how to get Gwyneth’s chic, sexy rock and roll red carpet makeup look.

“I wanted sexy rock chic for Gwyneth! After applying a light layer of CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Cream and waiting about ten minutes for it to absorb, I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup in BR20 (available in March 2011).

For the eyes I chose CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Cinnamon, smoking the eyes, and also on the lower lash line. And of course tons and tons of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir! For concealer I used CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvinating Concealer in Rose Lumière in a half moon shape blending almost to the hair line and into the temples next to eye brow. I used round motions to create a soft sexy look. For her cheeks, I used the cream cheek colour in the CHANEL Multi-Use Makeup Palette in Paris- L.A, applying with a tapping motion using my fingers. Finally, her lips CHANEL Ultra-Wear Lip Colour in Rose Agate.”

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Hair. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards took center stage with Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Wild Bohemian” look created by celebrity hairstylist David Babaii.

To achieve the look, David Babaii always starts with clean fresh hair. The clean canvas theory remains his mantra for every red carpet look. David began by applying Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment and gently massaging into the hair.

The Pequi Oil Treatment is used prior to blow drying to deliver silky and shiny hair. With the IT&LY HAIRFASHION Ionic Blow Dryer, David rough dried the hair for texture and volume. Next, he created a center part and began taking random sections wrapping only the center portion of some of the strands (leaving the top and ends free) around a 1″ curling iron. Alternating stands were wrapped around the curling iron, leaving only the very tips free. This was done to create uneven curl patterns. Once the strand cooled, David ran his fingers up the strand creating a “fanning effect”. To finish, he added additional Couture Colur Pequi Oil Treatment to his hands and tousled the waves for added volume, texture and hold.

Gwyneth Paltrow tells InStyle: On preparing for her role as a country singer in Country Strong: I’ve never prepared for anything more in my life. It was a big responsibility. There was studying with an accent coach, learning to play guitar, and of course the singing. My voice didn’t have any power or strength to it at all, and I wanted to try to sing properly. And I was so nervous about performing live scenes in the film because that’s so foreign to me.

Something surprising about her life in London: I like having dance parties at my house and being super-goofy with my girlfriends. We just play dance music, like whatever is on the radio and then old stuff –Michael Jackson, disco–and new stuff; we mix it up. It’s fun.

What she loves about being with her family during the holidays: My favorite thing is that the phone stops ringing and the e-mails stop coming. It’s like a vacuum is created where you can be together and there’s no outside noise. The air changes. You can be home, but it feels different. I really love that.
