Redken Creative Consultant Guido worked to create styles for two very distinct powerhouse collections at his last day of shows in Paris this week.

Miu Miu Fashion show Fall 2012

Playing on designer Miuccia Prada’s audacious pantsuits in the Fall 2012 Miu Miu collection, he created a 1970’s inspired look with a hint of masculinity: a looped “sideburn” on one side of the face. The models all wore oversized 1920’s-style hats at Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 show, and Guido again played what he terms a “supporting actor role.” Although no role in the over-the-top show could really have been small, as Marc Jacobs tried to outdo himself yet again this season with models emerging from a full-scale locomotive trailed by porters carrying their bags.

“The look at Miu Miu today is a very seventies look – I created loops on either side that are inspired by sideburns, but for girls. So the sideburn-like -loop gives it a little bit of a masculine feel, but the rest of the hair is very simple. This simplicity is great as the makeup’s quite fun- so it creates a nice balance.”–Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

How To

Start with damp dry hair and apply satinwear 02.

Blow-dry just the top of the head so it’s smooth but leave the mid-lengths to ends of the hair to dry naturally.

Mist mid-lengths to ends with Nature’s Rescue radiant sea spray to give a natural texture.

Create a slightly off center part which is meant look a little boyish.

Take a small section on each side of the face from underneath the bang section and create a loop which stays close to the face, and tuck the end of the loop behind the ear and clip so it stays in place.

Stick it to the face using fashion work 12 and remove the clip.

How To

Apply Extreme Anti-Snap to damp hair and blow-dry, concentrating on the hairline to make it very clean, using a flat boar bristle brush.

Pull hair up into a high ponytail, secure with an elastic, and spray with fashion work 12 to clean up the hairline and any flyaway’s.

Twist into a small knot and cover with a small hairnet.

Finish with more fashion work 12.

How to get a deep side part hairstyle

Create a deep left messy side part.

Rough blow-dry hair a bit with fingers until 100% dry.

To finish, tuck hair behind ear on the left side. On the right side, tuck hair behind the ear but then pull forward a 1 inch side section over the ear.

How to get a very clean and natural hairstyle

Redken Creative Consultant Guido created an androgynous, rock ‘n’ roll look at the Fall 2012 Jean Paul Gaultier show, Saturday March 3rd, in Paris.

The collection itself was dark and graffiti-inspired, clearly intended for the kind of girl you don’t want to mess with.

Guido’s look followed the spray-paint theme to a T, showcasing colored roots and a stick-straight style. We wouldn’t have necessarily wanted to cross the girl in the Loewe Fall 2012 show yesterday either, but while Guido said this look also had a masculine side, the total look was more refined. The result was an elegant, chic look with a very polished finish.

“The hair is stick straight with long hair extensions so you get that rock ‘n’ roll kind of vibe. The look is very androgynous and girls and guys can wear it, which I think makes it cool as well. We’re using bright colors to achieve dramatic color contrasts at the top of the hair near the center part. Different girls have different colors- black, red, blue, pink, silver- to create a graffiti –inspired look.”–Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

How to get an androgynous, rock ‘n’ roll hairstyle

1. Apply Extreme Anti-Snap to damp hair and blow-dry straight.

2. Create a clean center part.

3. Mist iron silk 07 onto hair and flat iron until stick straight.

4. Layer first fashion work 12 and then forceful 23 onto hair which gives the hair a more severe, straightened look.

5. Finish with a generous amount of shine flash 02 at the ends of the hair.

Redken Creative Consultant Guido kept things simple yet sexy at the Fall 2012 Roberto Cavalli fashion show, Feburary 27th, 2012, his last show in Milan this season. He looked to create a matte, textured hairstyle that would complement the very dark makeup and exotic prints and leathers in the collection itself.

“For Cavalli, the girls all have very long hair, and it’s a little bit hippie-inspired, and of course, very sexy. The hair is very simple and very real. The clothing is very dark in color, and add in the leather gloves and [makeup artist] Pat’s eye, the look is almost Gothic. Also, the length makes it dramatic but what I tried to do was not pump any kind of real wave into the hair, keeping it very cool, very glamorous. How To Get This Runaway Hairstyle:

Blow-dry bangs* straight with a round brush (to give them some movement).

Apply wool shake 08 to damp hair and blow-dry with fingers to give the hair a “rock ‘n’ roll” texture.

Apply powder refresh 01 all over dry hair to make the overall feel and texture more matte (“a little bit more dusty”) and give the hair more dimension.

How to get a Modern Faux Bob hairdo

Prep with Kérastase Nectar Thermique to protect hair from the harmful effects of heat styling tools and provide optimal shine

Use Kérastase Mousse Volumactive all over for texture and volume

Take a small section of hair at the nape of the neck, and split in half to create two small braids

Wrap the braids around each other and pin so they lie flat against the back of the head and stay covered underneath the remaining lengths

Curl hair in layers with varying curling irons – use a wave iron at the bottom layer for texture and then a large barrel curling iron on the top sections

For the top layer, curl hair with a 1-inch barrel curling iron, curling it in a upside down direction to create a subtle kink

Tuck the lengths under and pin to the braids to create a faux bob (pinning lengths to the braids creates a strong base so the hair doesn’t slip)

Lightly rough up the right side of the faux bob with fingers for added texture and finish with Kérastase Double Force Hair Spray for a matte yet polished look
