How to get natural, sexy texture hairdo

Jouer Cosmetics was delighted to partner with kate spade new york for their Fall 2012 presentation. To complement the Ready-to-Wear collection with its rich hues, playful prints and Parisian influence, Jouer Cosmetics created a classic, clean look this season with a romantic edge.

The look featured a clean and luminous complexion with natural, rosy cheeks and a light Orchid Tint stained lips. The focus for Fall was on the eyes, which were kept dark, smoky and mysterious.

Application

To achieve the Autumn/Winter 2012 kate spade new york look, the Jouer Cosmetics team prepped the models’ skin with Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint, followed by the Age-Repairing Perfector to ensure extra coverage on targeted areas. Where needed, Jouer Cosmetics’ Age-Repairing Concealer was used to cover any blemishes or dark circles. For a dewy look, Age-Repairing Brightener was applied above the cheek bones and around the eyes. Mineral Face Powder was the final step for the face, setting the makeup and minimizing shine in the t-zone.

To create the light, smoky eye, Amaretto Powder Eyeshadow was the key component. The product was firstly used on the lower part of the eye lid. To smoke-out the look, Cappuccino Powder Eyeshadow was applied in the crease bringing drama to the eyes, yet still keeping it wearable. Noir Eye Definer was added to subtly sharpen the top and bottom eye lids followed by a sweep of Amaretto Powder Eyeshadow on the bottom lid to continue the smudged and smoky effect. Noir Mascara was lastly swept onto lashes completing the eyes and the brows were strengthened with Brow Definer to create a fuller look and frame the face.

Lastly, Rose Mineral Powder Blush was used on the apples of the cheeks. Blending outwards, the natural flush of the cheeks was accentuated. The look’s final touch was a pop of Orchid Tint on the lips, leaving a natural rose stain.

TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu created a gorgeous undone side bun for Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2012 runway show. To complement the designer’s collection including a mix of leather, fur, sequins and knits, Jeanie created a very chic and relaxed low bun to bring femininity to the strong silhouettes of the collection.

The mix of textures, rich colors and strong silhouettes with a menswear influence called for a style that balanced the look and added a touch of femininity, with just enough edge.

How-To:

Step 1 – Saturate the Roots with a Volumizer

“I needed to get a lot of lift at the roots. Without that, the look would just fall flat,” says Harry. On wet hair, he applied tons of John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foam ($6.99) which not only gave him the weightless lift that he needed, but also helped to protect against damage caused by heat styling.

Step 2 – Protect the ends

Make a deep side part and section off to start a reverse French braid (aka corn row) along the hairline, all the way around the head. Stop the braid behind the ear on the same side as your part. Take the remaining hair on the opposite side and twist back until it joins with the braid. Keep twisting to form a loose undone roll. Use a variety of large and small hair pains to secure throughout the braid and loose roll. “On her skin I used CHANEL Hydra Beauty Hydration Protection Radiance Serum. I then applied the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 on her skin with a brush. Focusing on the eyes, I used the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes, starting out with the lightest color of the Quad and a round tip brush, and buffed it along her top and bottom lash line. I used the darkest color with a smaller stiff brush on the outer edges to give more definition, since we did not use an actual eyeliner pencil. Lots of layers of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir were applied to Shai’s long eyelashes, top and bottom, and extra on the outer edges.

Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base was applied to the contours of her face to give it a natural definition. CHANEL Eclat Lumiere Highlighter Face Pen was used on the high brow bone points as well as the bow of her lip, inner corner of her eyes and above her eyebrow arch to give her a soft natural dewy finish. On her lips was CHANEL Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm to prep and CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Destinee, applied with a brush and blotted to create a sheer lip stain. A tiny hint of CHANEL Powder Blush in Espigle was applied to the apple of the cheek and buffed into the cheekbones.”
