The ever beautiful and recently slimmed down Jennifer Hudson recently got together with Sam Fine, celebrity makeup artist and creator of The Basics of Beauty, for a shoot showing off her gorgeous new look. Here, Sam shares with us his insider advice on how you can achieve this flawless and glowing face at home with just a few easy steps.

Coverage: Every great look begins great coverage. Jennifer has beautiful skin, but like many women of color, she has varied tones. I use foundation to unify those varying tones. One of my favorites is the Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation because it’s cream- to- powder, so it dries down to a powdery finish and looks really natural.

Bronzer: Bronzer is always a must for all women to illuminate their complexion. It’s important to choose a bronzer that’s one shade darker than your natural skin tone and apply it to the outer perimeter of your face to warm the skin and create a halo of glow. After applying bronzer, you can go back and layer over blush to give the skin a pop of color. On Jennifer, I used CoverGirl Natural Hue Mineral Bronzer and Cargo’s matte blush in Laguna.

Eyes: To create Jennifer’s classic, natural eye, I used a brown shadow. Shu Uemura makes a great pressed eye shadow in an array of shades – in this case, their Matte Taupe with Golden Flakes Eyeshadow works perfectly. For this look, I didn’t use a ton of liner, and totally avoided lining underneath her eyes to keep them soft. We used tons of mascara to enhance her look – my favorite is LashBlast from CoverGirl. I always like to apply a coat of mascara, and then move on to something else to let the first coat dry. I’ll come back a few minutes later, curl the lashes, and then layer on a few more coats of mascara to really build the lashes. This makes them much more dramatic and makes the curl hold well. It’s like spraying your hair with a coat of hairspray before using a curling iron.

Lips: To complete her look, I gave Jennifer a beautiful nude lip. The key to a nude lip is to begin by lining the lips with liner that is one shade darker than your natural lip color. Don’t worry about matching the liner to your lipstick – if you match it to your lips, it will look great with any shade of lipstick. After lining the lips, feather the liner towards the center of the mouth to great a base for the lipstick. Next, apply your lipstick. On Jennifer, I chose IMAN Cosmetics’ Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in Citron. I finished by slicking on a golden gloss add dimension and shine. CoverGIRL’s Shine Blast Lip Gloss is perfect!

Last night, celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine created a beautiful “Modern 30’s Glam” look for supermodel IMAN. Below, Sam shares the product he used to create this iconic look.

SKIN: Every look that walks the red carpet begins with flawless skin. I start by using Iman’s Second to None Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup Enriched with Minerals (in shade 2) to highlight and conceal the under eye area. Then I uses Iman’s Second to None Stick Foundation in the same shade to achieve a flawless complexion that not only looks great on the red carpet, but lasts though the night!

SKIN: After using Iman’s Semi-Loose Powder Enriched with Minerals (in Earth Medium) to set foundation, I dust bronzer near the hairline and sweep onto cheeks to add a luminous glow to the skin. Bronzer also takes the place of blush and can be worn both day and night!

EYES: A smoky eye is one of Iman’s favorite eye statements! I begin creating a smoky eye statement by using a dark shadow nearest the lashline and bringing it up past the crease of the eye, then using the same dark shadow underneath the eye to add drama and definition. Topping this off with a shimmering gold shadow on the browbone and lining the inner rim of the eye in black for added drama. And no red carpet face is complete without false lashes and a couple of coats of mascara! Iman Cosmetics Luxury Eye Defining Powders in Black Magic, Vixen & Bewitched are great for adding shimmer to the eye area.

LIPS: I wanted to dress each feature of the face, so I lined the mouth with a deep brown pencil and filled in the lip with a bourdeaux shade of lipstick, Iman Cosmetic’s Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in WildThing, to make the look sensuous, striking, and oh, so sexy!

For an IMAN Cosmetics contest (guys, please wish Marta luck and cross fingers I win) I was asked about my FOUNDATION. Who or what makes up the support system that helps me achieve my success and happiness, that is.

Just like in makeup a good foundation is the first and most important thing you need to achieve a beautiful and complete makeup look. If your skin is uneven, red, and not flawless because you’re are using the wrong foundation no other makeup will work to fix it or make it look better. Same thing with my life, my family and the love I have everyday is my foundation for everything else I do. Some people operate from pain. I operate and create from love, happiness, and good foundation. My fabulous husband Matt and my two boys Jake and Kieran give me a sense of confidence to make things happen. Without them I’m seriously in the market for a makeover. A new foundation perhaps?

In May 2008, I had the honor to interview the legendary IMAN for BeautyInterviews.com. I would like to share my interview with IMAN with you.

Here is a bit of an introduction: IMAN, is one of the most beautiful models of all time. IMAN is not just known for her exceptional beauty, she is also the founder of IMAN Cosmetics, and Global Chic a fashion accessories line. In this interview IMAN talks about why she decided to create IMAN Cosmetics and Global Chic, her involvement in the I Am African campaign and Keep A Child Alive organization, the photographers she loved working the most, and her secret for looking so amazing at age 50.

Marta Walsh: How was the concept for Iman Cosmetics born?
IMAN: I created IMAN Cosmetics in 1994 because I was frustrated by the lack of products for women with skin of color. It became an instant success with celebrities, beauty editors, and everyday women!

Marta Walsh: Which product from Iman Cosmetics are you most proud of?
IMAN: I have to say my IMAN Second to None foundations in all categories from cream to powder, stick, luminous and liquid. To have created an iconic must-have product that delivers is truly inspiring.

Marta Walsh: Your newest collection Global Chic by IMAN also includes: handbags, fashion accessories, and jewelry. What inspired you to develop this collection?
IMAN: Global Chic is inspired by my journeys around the globe – from the saturated landscapes and bold sophisticated colors of Africa, India, and Bali, to the glamour of the Hollywood Hills, and the fashionably chic streets of London, Paris, Milan, and New York – as well as my personal collection and sentimental items from my husband. I will dress you, jewel you, and accessorize you from head to toe – giving you an extensive line of fashionable, and affordable pieces that can be instantly incorporated into your life – with zero effort!

Marta Walsh: What are some of your favorite pieces from the Global Chic collection?

Marta Walsh: What is your secret for looking so fabulous at 50?
IMAN: Skincare, skincare, and skincare.

The skin that you take care of in your twenties is the one you will inherit in your fifties and beyond.

Marta Walsh: What advice can you give to young girls who are aspiring models?
IMAN: First finish school and then have a plan and strategy if modeling doesn’t work out; not all beautiful girls can become models.

Marta Walsh: I Am African campaign brought together some amazing people, can you tell us about how this campaign was conceived and its message?
IMAN: As the Global Ambassador for Keep a Child Alive (www.keepachildalive.org) an organization that provides ARV drugs for children and their families who are affected with AIDS in Africa I wanted to create a thought provoking campaign that makes you look and think about the human condition and that also reminds the public that the human race does originate from Africa hence we are all Africans. I am forever grateful to all the celebrities that came together to create my vision – from Gwyneth Paltrow to Sarah Jessica Parker, David Bowie, Richard Gere, Alicia Keys, Heidi Klum and Seal among others and the creative team of famed lensman Michael Thompson, hairstylist Serge Normant and makeup artist Dick Page to the impeccable art direction of Trey Laird.

Marta Walsh: What compelled you to get in involved with the Keep A Child Alive organization?
IMAN: I am an African who wanted to help my continent and to ease its daily suffering, additionally as a mother I was moved by the enormity of the orphan situation in Africa. AIDS is an incurable disease but it is no longer a death sentence in the West because of the ARV drugs and I wanted Africans to have the same chance of survival as the people in the West.

Marta Walsh: You have worked with many photographers during your career. Who do you feel captured you the best?
IMAN: It is difficult to say as there are so many sides of me. I loved working with Michael Thompson, Avedon, Penn, Steven Meisel, Annie Leibovitz, and Ruven Afanador – the list goes on and on.

Marta Walsh: What’s next for Iman?
IMAN: At the moment, I am working on my first fragrance in addition to appearing on HSN (May 18th and July 12th ) with new pieces in my Global Chic line, as well as the “official” launch of Global Chic Beauty and Lifestyle brand!
