CHANEL Beauté and its Makeup Artist, Jeanine Lobell, created Natalie Portman’s makeup look for the 2009 Academy Awards.

Beauty Inspiration: “My inspiration for Natalie on Oscar night was her dress… The colour was a fantastic orchid, and being Rodarte, I wanted to do cool punk rock sexy fairy make up.”

How to get Natalie Portman’s Oscars 2009 red carpet makeup look: Jeanine was going for a smoky eye, and used CHANEL Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. She used the pale pink as a base and the dark purple smoked around the eye on the lid and smudged in lower lash line. She added CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir inside the eye, and lots of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black for thick sexy lashes.

Jeanine Lobell used CHANEL Perfect Brows in Brun, using the two colours to make a strong brow, but keeping it soft. Jeanine then used CHANEL Powder Blush in Narcisse, a flattering, bright pink shade, high on the cheek bones. She then added CHANEL Glossimer in Galactic for a more pale lavender lip. Finally, for a sexy, bronze sheen, Jeanine applied CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed on Natalie’s arms, shoulders, and décolleté.

Chanel Beaute created the makeup looks for Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, and January Jones for the 66th Annual Golden Globes Awards.
Penelope Cruz makeup look for the Golden Globes was created by Makeup Artist Jeanine Lobell:

Beauty Inspiration: “Penelope is just such a classic beauty and so sexy. I just wanted to play up her eyes as the focus, working with the nude of the dress. It was important to work in neutral tones playing off the gown and using darkness rather than colour for intensity.”

Beauty Tip: Penelope’s look on the red carpet was soft and sultry, with a defined, smoky eye. Jeanine used a tinted moisturizer for her foundation, and set it with CHANEL POUDRE CRISTALLINE Ultra-Fine Translucent Powder for a bright soft finish.

On her eyes, she went for a classic smoky look, using the CHANEL SILKY EYESHADOW DUO in BRUN-EXPRESS. She used the matte brown and smoked out the lid, blended into the crease, and then created a smoky line under the eye. Jeanine rimmed the lash line and in the inner lid with CHANEL INTENSE EYE PENCIL in NOIR. Adding the black on the top lashes smudgy gave her a sexy blended eye. She then used CHANEL INIMITABLE MASCARA in NOIR-BLACK on the lashes on top.

For a soft, romantic look, Jeanine used CHANEL POWDER BLUSH in ROSE PETALE on the cheeks.

Penelope’s lips were her own nude lip liner with a clear gloss, to keep the focus on the eyes.

Anne Hathaway’s makeup look for the Golden Globes was created by Makeup Artist Kate Lee:

Beauty Inspiration: “Anne looked statuesque tonight. The dress was a deep navy colour, the top layer was black net, and had vibrant azure blue beading which complemented her alabaster skin tone. It is always my intention to make the look classic when it is for an award show.”

Beauty Tip: Kate chose to keep the eye sculptural and neutral. She took a small brush and blended the darkest shade in the CHANEL QUADRA EYE SHADOW in MYSTIC EYES from the lash line upwards slightly to soften the line. In the socket line, she used a tiny amount of CHANEL SOFT TOUCH EYESHADOW in
SLATE (launching in June 2009, given to Kate in advance for the Golden Globes), just enough to define the socket, and a tiny amount along the lower lash line. Next, she curled the eye lashes and applied sever layers
of CHANEL INIMITABLE WATERPROOF MASCARA in Noir. Lancome Le Crayon Poudre in Brunet was the perfect product to gently add depth and definition to Anne’s brows.

Kate sculpted the cheekbones with CHANEL POWDER BLUSH in NUDE, and on the top of the cheek bones and along the jaw and clavicle she used Lancôme Absolue Powder in Absolute Peche.

The lips were a perfect dark raspberry shade stain. To achieve this effect, Kate lined the lips in CHANEL LIP DEFINER in NATURAL, a shade that matched the colour of Anne’s natural lip shade. Making sure the lips where moisturized and supple, she gently padded on CHANEL HYDRABASE LIPSTICK in LOTUS ROUGE, blending the edges of the lips so that there were no hard lines of colour.

As a perfect finishing touch, Kate used CHANEL POUDRE CRISTALLINE Utlra-Fine Translucent Powder to take away any shine from the forehead, nose and chin.

Blake Lively’s makeup look for the Golden Globes was created by Makeup Artist Angela Levin:

Beauty Inspiration: “Today my inspiration was more of a feeling or emotion than a character. It was such a sunny, beautiful day in LA, and when I saw Blake, she was just glowing with her light, happy, uplifting personality. I knew we were going to go for a bright, summery, carefree look…. with just a drop of sexy!”

Beauty Tip: To achieve Blake’s fresh, young look, Angela blended all four shades from the CHANEL QUADRA EYE SHADOW in MYSTIC EYES on her lids. To make her gorgeous eyes pop, she added several layers of CHANEL EXCEPTIONNEL DE CHANEL MASCARA in SMOKY NOIR to her lashes.

On Blake’s cheeks Angela used LES TISSAGES DE CHANEL in TWEED ROSE, and to add a bit of bronze shimmer, she added a touch of CHANEL SHEER BRILLIANCE in SUNKISSED.

Finally, for a natural but sexy lip, Angela completed the look with CHANEL GLOSSIMER in BEIGE GUITARE.

January Jones’ makeup look for the Golden Globes was created by Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin:

Beauty Inspiration: “My inspiration for January’s Golden Globes make up was really just a very quintessential 1940′s glamour girl look. When I first saw the color of her dress, it had this beautiful old Hollywood feel to it, I wanted the make up to have the same feeling.”

Beauty Tip: Rachel kept January’s skin very fair, almost translucent looking with a sheer foundation applied with a wet sponge all over on her face and body. She used the CHANEL POUDRE CRISTALLINE Ultra-Fine Translucent Powder over it to give her skin a soft matte texture. Rachel used CHANEL AUTOMATIC LIQUID EYE LINER in BRUN along the upper lid extending out to the edge of her brow, which she also extended with CHANEL BROW DEFINER in SOFT BROWN.

The sexy, glamorous lip was CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE in DAZZLING, a true tangerine red with a semi matte texture which was a fun pop of unexpected color that perfectly complemented the sky blue color of January’s eyes and of the dress. The focal point of January’s make up was the lip, but Rachel added just the slightest hint of soft bronze along the brow bone and the cheek bones with CHANEL 4 FACETTES BRONZING POWDER (launching in April 2009, given to Rachel in advance for the Golden Globes) to give soft definition.
