Julianne Moore looked radiant last night on the red carpet of the 2011 Golden Globe Awards in a dazzling pink, Lanvin dress. Nominated for Best Actress in The Kids Are All Right, her co-star Annette Benning took home the prize for the same film. Moore’s flawless makeup was created by Pati Dubroff, Clarins Celebrity Beauty Artist. A fuchsia dress on a red head can be difficult to match makeup to, but Dubroff chose to stay within the pink family creating contrasting hues on the eye lids (soft pink) and deep, rich blackberry on the lips.

Skin:

Dubroff started with Clarins Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate to fill any fine lines on the skin and create an even canvas. She then applied the Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Rose Shimmer along her cheekbones for glowing skin that did not cover her freckles. Next, she swept a small amount of Blush Prodige in Miami Pink on the apples of her cheeks.

Eyes:

Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base was the foundation of the soft eye look, which not only helps pigment last all night but makes the color richer on the skin tone. Next, she used the pale pink eye shadow from Clarins new Neo Pastels Eye Palette and sculpted the eye using a matte taupe shade from the Pro Palette Eye Brow Kit. Competing the look was many coats of Wonder Perfect Mascara in Black.

Lips:

Berry stained lips, that looked like she just sipped a glass of wine were achieved without liner, but by dabbing on Clarins Rouge Prodige in Blackberry with the fingers.

Olivia Wilde and Julianne Moore sported thanks to Terry Mullet for Kérastase & Giannandrea for Kératase using none other but Kérastase products. The products were used to create beautiful looks and are all available at www.kerastase-usa.com.

Oliva Wilde. Overall Look: chic French Girl look.

How to:

Began by applying Kérastase Volumactive Mousse & Care Kérastase Volumactive to wet hair prior to blowdrying to give texture and volume.

From there, Terry blow dried her hair with his hands, only using a round brush at the ends once almost dried to give the hair a clean, healthy, just washed type of look

Once the hair was dry, he finished with Kérastase Oléo-Relax Serum on the ends and a veil of Kérastase Double Force Hair Spray for hold.

Julianna Moore. Overall Look: “modern, romantic” look.

How to:

Began by applying Kérastase Volumactive Mousse & Kérastase Nectar Thermique to her wet hair

This created volume and texture while protecting the hair from the heat of the blow-dryer

He then parted her hair down the middle to create a modern aesthetic

Following, he twisted the hair to the side and created a pony/tail twist style

He finished with Kérastase Elixir Ultime to create a healthy, finish that had a touchable, healthy shine

GET THE LOOK: Love Julianne Moore’s winter proof, and I must add, gorgeous hairstyle at Sundance 2010?

Thanks to hairstylist Stephen Lewis, who worked on Julianne Moore for a “Smooth and Sleek Sundance Style”, Talking Makeup has the breakdown on how to get the look:

“Julianne wanted a simple but sophisticated look for her press in Sundance. I applied Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateur to her wet hair and low-dried her hair with a large round brush. It made her hair shiny and polished without looking greasy, and it held really well in the wet, snowy eather. For a finishing touch, I applied a small amount of Leonor Greyl Eclat Naturel on her ends. She looked great!”

I’m so excited to share with you my interview with “Eastwick” star Jaime Ray Newman who plays the character of Kat Gardener. Eastwick is an American television drama series, that is scheduled to premiere on ABC on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 10:00 PM ET. Eastwick is a television adaption of the 1987 feature The Witches of Eastwick. Show’s cast also includes Lindsay Price, and Rebecca Romijn.

Newman’s previous roles include: Kristina Carter Cassadine on the soap opera, General Hospital. And, a part in the Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, with a scene opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

Jaime Ray Newman

In this interview Jaime Ray Newman talks to Marta Walsh about her first breaks as an actress. Her role as Kat Rougemont on the new ABC show “Eastwick”. Beauty secrets, and future plans.

“Eastwick” stars from left: Lindsay Price, Rebecca Romijn, and Jaime Ray Newman

Marta Walsh: How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?
Jaime Ray Newman: I did my first professional play when I was 12. A local theater came to my middle school to audition girls for a new Israel Horowitz play, and I got the gig. My parents first reaction was “There are two people in this household with careers and you’re not one of them”. But after much begging, they acquiesced, and away I went. My first real break was playing Kristina Cassadine on “General Hospital”. I was fresh out of college and thrilled to be working.

MW: What attracted you to Kat Rougemont’s character on the new ABC show “Eastwick”?
JRN: I love playing Kat. She’s quite unlike me, actually, so I really get to dig and create a character. She’s undertaken so much responsibility (5 children, a full time job, a husband who may as well be one of her kids) that she hasn’t had a second for herself since she was 18. She’s struggling to find her voice again, and that is always fascinating to me. Playing someone in deep conflict is always the most interesting.

Watch “Eastwick” trailer below, the show looks so cute! It’s like “Sex and The City” meets “Charmed”.

MW: How was it working on “Eastwick” set with your director and your co-stars?
JRN: First of all, I owe much to David Nutter, our pilot director. He’s the magic man, hands down. We are his 15th pilot to get on the air. And I know he could have cast someone with more name recognition, so I am grateful that he really went to the mat for me to play this role. He’s one of the best, most focused directors out there. And what can I say about Rebecca Romijn and Lindsey Price? I am the luckiest girl around to get to go to work everyday with these amazing women. All we do all day long is laugh. They rock. Oh, and Paul Gross? Well I am the biggest “Slings and Arrows” fan out there, so it’s kind of like working with your idol. And boy is he sexy.

MW: Which other film genres do you enjoy most playing, and what would be your dream acting role?
JRN: I love romantic comedies, but I also love small indie dramas. I’d love to produce one at some point, and actually have something in the works right now. Small budgets don’t scare me, I think they free you up to take risks and throw rules and regulations to the wind. And dream role? Anything far from myself – accents, different time periods, etc. What’s the fun of acting if you can’t stretch your imagination wide?

MW: What is next for Jaime Ray Newman?
JRN: I am a singer, and have FINALLY started taking guitar lessons. I’d love to do more song writing. Also, I am going to the Middle East over Christmas to finish up a script I am collaborating on with a filmmaker from Israel. It’s a small, dark fish out of water dramedy that takes place in the West Bank. Crazy, I know, but I am very passionate about that part of the world and would do anything to work there! Hopefully “Eastwick” will shoot for a long time to come, so I will be unavailable for a while!

Jaime Ray Newman’s Beauty Secrets:

I keep my hair beautiful thanks to…
L’Oreal colorist collection in orange marigold. I have to use something with color or else the red fades too fast. And Kerastase conditioner is AMAZING for hair that is highly abused like mine. I am always curling, straightening and coloring it, so I need to treat it kindly!

My favorite skincare products are…
M.D. Forte night cream is really rich, creamy and unscented, which I like. And I use a natural sunscreen from Ma Chelle during the day.

I get my eyelashes looking long, full, and sexy using…
Bad Gal by Benefit. Kim Greene, an amazing makeup artist I worked with introduced me to this mascara, and I am addicted. The brush is HUGE so it gives anyone enormous lashes.

The best lip-gloss I ever owned…
I’m OBSESSED with O-Gloss. Rebecca Romijn turned me onto it. It gives me pouty, moist lips and gets more color as you wear it.

My signature fragrance is…
I love natural perfume oils, like C.O. Bigelow’s Freesia.

What’s in your makeup bag…
I am a huge blush and mascara fan. Orgasm by Nars suits my fair skin really well. And anything Stila makes in shimmery browns. I love their colors.

My number one beauty secret is…
Lots of water, and lots of sleep. The latter is a bit harder to come by these days…

The celebrity I find most beautiful is…
Julianne Moore. How could I not choose a redhead?

The city I love the most…
Is New York City. I’ve traveled quite a bit in my life, but my heart will always belong to the Big Apple.

One or two things some people may not know about Jaime Ray Newman…
I had an 8 piece funk band called “School Boy Crush” when I first moved to LA. We played the ESPN Awards at the Kodak Theater, amongst other events. I definitely wanted to be Chaka Khan. Jury’s still out about that…

I recently had an amazing chance to interview actress Taylor Schilling who plays Nurse Veronica Callahan in an upcoming NBC TV series “Mercy“. There are two other nurses in “Mercy”: Chloe Payne played by Michelle Trachtenberg, and Sonia Jimenez played by Jaime Lee Kirchner.

Schilling made her debut on the big screen in the role of Jackie in the First Independent Pictures film “Dark Matter,” which co-starred Meryl Streep. The film, inspired by actual events, follows the journey of an ambitious Chinese scientist working towards his Ph.D. in America, only to be marginalized to the extent that he ultimately loses his way.

“Mercy” premieres Wednesday September 23RD 8/7c.

Taylor Schilling

In this interview Taylor Schilling talks to Marta Walsh about her beginnings in the acting world. What attracted her to Veronica’s character on the new NBC show “Mercy”. Taylor even shares with us some of her beauty secrets and her future plans.

“Mercy” stars from left: Michelle Trachtenberg, Taylor Schilling, and Jaime Lee Kirchner

Marta Walsh: How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?
Taylor Schilling: I have wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember…I studied acting in undergraduate and graduate school in NYC. Was only a year ago but seems like forever!

MW: What attracted you to Veronica’s character on the new NBC show “Mercy”?
TS: I suspect on some level, everyone has experienced a life changing event that has left them feeling like a fish out of water back home. Veronica is trying to navigate through that feeling in her relationships, at work, with her family and friends…everywhere. She makes mistakes. She’s flawed and she’s raw. I appreciate her vulnerability and ferocity, her compassion and desire to do the right thing.

TS: I like have no idea what my dream role would be…but this one is pretty fantastic!

A French friend of mine called me the other a Francophile. In translation it’s basically a person who has a strong interest in, or admiration for French culture. Hey, I learn everyday, and this one I’m adding to my vocabulary at once. What I know for sure is that I’m a person with a strong interest and love for French skincare!

I would like to share with you my list of French skincare lines that I absolutely love for my skin in general, and particularly my under eye. I believe there are some things in life that you need to invest, like good shoes, and a good eye cream!

Here it is, Marta’s favorite eye creams or eye treatments, oo la la..Eye Dream by Talika and Eye Therapy Patch by Talika. SAMPAR Eye Rule peptide & adenosine under eye cream. And, Orlane Absolute Radiance Lightbox or Orlane éclat absolu Lightbox.

Eye Dream by Talika ($55): Apply at night under eye, (I cheat and I also apply during the day, works & feels amazing, shu…). During sleep, the delicate skin around your eyes loses up to 50% of its moisture and is most biologically receptive to external hydration and nourishing ingredients. Eye Dream by Talika can help in keeping you under eye very nourished, hydrated, and refreshed. I love using Eye Dream after a long day of work (blogging that is:) or a big night out. It immediately revives my tired eyes.

You might also like Eye Therapy Patch by Talika ($62): This patch is a pleasant, effective, natural and comfortable solution for combating wrinkles, circles and under-eye puffiness.

Visit www.talika.com to further explore the brand.

SAMPAR Eye Rule peptide & adenosine under eye cream ($78): Celebrity fans: Famous celebrity makeup artist, Matin, used it on Julianne Moore and Claire Danes. Jessica Szohr from Gossip Girls is also a fan.

Encased in a completely air-tight roller ball pen applicator, you apply exactly the amount you need without mess and without letting bacteria in. I found, one pump is enough for both eyes. Better yet, place SAMPAR in the refrigerator for the ultimate cooling and soothing under eye effect. Also, great for travel, you don’t have to worry about spilling.

Main ingredients: peptides, adenosine. Urban advance complex: shea butter, minth and sweet, probiotic extracts. Argan oil and red raspberry seed oil. Complex LMB: licorice, marigold, butcher’s broom. Cornflower, horse chestnut, white lupin, oat, imperata cylindrica extracts.

Available at www.3graces.com

Orlane Absolute Radiance Lightbox or Orlane éclat absolu Light Box in French: Cinderella Skin in 7 Minutes! I can’t rave enough about this product! I’m addicted to it and to what it does to my skin. It feels so invegrating and fresh after only one use, it wakes my skin up in an instant! If you are looking for that wow feeling, you might want to give Orlane Absolute Radiance Lightbox a go.

The Orlane Absolute Radiance Lightbox includes éclat absolu Dazzling Eye Ritual Under-Eye Patches and éclat absolu Eye Contour Serum. Apply the eye serum first to your under eye and follow by applying the eye patch underneath each eye. It also includes a Shimmering Skin Masque Cream which you prepare, in no time, by mixing the Shimmering Skin powder provided in the kit. Once done mixing, apply on your face wait 7 minutes, rinse off, and apply the éclat absolu Evanescent Cream which smells and feels amazing! Now, YOU tell me what you feel?:)

Orlane Paris Absolute Radiance Lightbox retails at $200 and is available at Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

In this interview Brea Grant talks about how she got into acting, why was she attracted to the role of Daphne Millbrook in the hit series Heroes and what she has learned from it, shares beauty secrets, and her upcoming projects.

Marta Walsh: Why did you decide on a career in acting?
Brea Grant: As a kid, I did a lot of local theatre in Texas. When I was sort of at that crossroads of trying to decide what to do with my life, I fell back on the thing I remembered loving most – acting. So I took a few acting classes and moved to Los Angeles. Sounds simple but it was actually pretty hard.

MW: What attracted you to play the character Daphne Millbrook in the hit series Heroes?
BG: I love Heroes and I love sci-fi. I was thrilled to audition for such a cool role. I mean, who doesn’t want to play a superfast villain?

MW: What has the role in Heroes taught you as an actress?
BG: Just like any other job, you still have to work hard, study the character, and come prepared. I definitely thought I knew this character and then I’d get a new script and there’d be a whole new twist! As an actor, you have to be prepared for anything.

MW: What’s next for Brea Grant?
BG: I have a cameo on the upcoming Max Payne movie that everyone should check out. I’m also working on writing a comic book with my brother right now.

I keep my hair beautiful thanks to…

Paul Mitchell. My hair is a crazy mix of dreadlocks and regular hair so it’s hard for me to find a good shampoo. A few years ago, another girl with dreadlocks recommended just regular Paul Mitchell to me and it works wonderfully. In addition, I love the Big Sexy Hair line of spray wax. It’s the only thing that can tame my hair!

My favorite skincare products are…

Pur~lisse. They make a very light lotion with SPF in it. I wear SPF every day so I love a good lotion/SPF combo. I also love Queen Helene Apricot Scrub for keeping my skin clean after a long day of shooting.

I get my eyelashes looking long, full, and sexy using…

Intuit Beauty Enormous Lash Eyelash Enhancing Serum. The make-up artist on Heroes recommended this to me and I honestly thought it wouldn’t work. But it’s amazing! My eyelashes are fuller and longer than they have ever been.

The best lip-gloss I ever owned…

Seraph Cosmopolitan Lip Kit. Made and designed locally here in Los Angeles using organic ingredients. There are six different lip-glosses in one container that also holds a tiny mirror. And it fits in my purse!

My signature fragrance is…

I wear a perfume my friend Elizabeth bought me at a random vintage store. I have no idea what it is but it’s a beautiful light fragrance that I love.

The one beauty product you will always find in my purse is…

I know it sounds boring but usually a lip-gloss or a lip balm like Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment with an SPF in it.

My number one beauty secret is…

Getting enough sleep! If I am tired, you can see it in my skin, particularly around my eyes. My friends laugh when I go to bed super early but it works for me!

The celebrity I find most beautiful is…

Julianne Moore. Her style is very classy and she has amazing skin. Plus, I think she makes great choices on the roles she takes. She’s an amazing actress.

The city I love the most…

It’s a tie between Austin, Texas and Portland, Oregon. Both are beautiful cities that I have friends and family in.

One or two things some people may not know about me…

I have an MA in American Studies from the University of Texas.

Given the choice between natural and synthetic, what’s your vote? Burt’s Bees thinks the choice should be clear in personal care. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as it looks – many personal care products on the market positioned as ‘natural’ may contain potentially harmful ingredients. That’s why Burt’s Bees and Julianne Moore are giving consumers the opportunity to cast their votes for truly natural personal care at www.burtsbees.com/votefornatural

More and more consumers believe that natural ingredients are the best choice to maximize well-being in personal care. The trouble is, it can take a lot of reading between the lines of labels to figure out what’s natural vs. synthetic. To help consumers find what they’re really looking for in a natural product, Burt’s Bees has worked closely with the Natural Products Association and other likeminded brands to develop a Natural Seal-a symbol that lets consumers know when products contain at least 95% natural ingredients.

To ensure that the best candidate comes out on top, “green” actress Julianne Moore cast the first vote for natural at the Burt’s Bees Voting Booth in NYC on Monday, September 15th. Each vote for natural is also a vote for the forthcoming Natural Seal, helping make natural a clear choice after all.
