For the premiere of “Black Rock” at the Sundance Film Festival I prepped Kate’s face by using a combination of different Votre Vu products to create the perfect canvas ready for the makeup application.

I started off by massaging “ATTENTIVE Creme de Jour for Sensitive Skin” all over the face and neck. This cream is great because it calms the skin and replenishes moisture – especially in these weather conditions.

To keep the under-eyes moisturized, I lightly smoothed into the skin “Tout le Monde Antioxidant Eye Gelee.”

Next I applied Votre Vu Sensational Eyes Eye Primer in Medium on lids for a perfect way to keep eye shadow on all day – the perfect base.

To finish prepping the face for makeup I dabbed a drop of the “Attentive Serum Delicat Pour Le Visage” into the skin and massaged starting at the center of the face and moving outward.

Kate has amazing skin so she really doesn’t need a heavy foundation. To set the foundation I dusted on Votre Vu Mineral Powder in Light all over the face.

For the premiere I wanted Kate’s makeup to be fresh and natural but with a bold classic red lip. The perfect base for the lipstick is the Votre Vu Champagne Kisses Lip Treatment. I didn’t line Kate’s lips so the Champagne Kisses pulled double duty by moisturizing and preventing the lipstick from bleeding out.

Today with Kate we started off by prepping the face similar as I did last evening. Kate was doing a full day of press for her movie “Black Rock” here at Sundance so we needed the skin to be extremely hydrated to prevent the makeup from looking heavy…especially in this freezing dry air.

“Because Kate’s CHANEL gown was so elegant, I wanted her make-up look to be fresh and radiant. I kept her face dewy and alive by priming with CHANEL Illuminating Makeup Base then applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Foundation in Clair with a sponge, and used very minimal powder, concentrating on her nose, chin and hairline.

I gave her cheeks a flush of color by dusting the apples with Les Tissages de CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Fuchsia. Next I shaded her top and bottom lids with a sweep of a light shimmer taupe with CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Safari, defined her brows with Le Sourcil de CHANEL then followed with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. I finished the look with a creamy rosy-pink lip CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Magnolia.”

“I knew the night was all about Chanel! On Kirsten’s eyes, I used CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Sillage, with a bit of CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshdow in Cascade. For the lashes I used CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. On her face I used a bit of CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair. Finally, I kept the focus on her lips, applying CHANEL Rouge Allure Lip Colour in Lover, the perfect red lip shade.”

“The base was minimal, Kate was tanned and so I prepped the skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum to make sure she was very hydrated, and a tiny wisp of CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup was enough to bring the skin tone to match the chest and body.

Across the bridge of the nose, top of the cheek bones, and around the hairline, I used CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel in Terre Ambre to bring the focus to the center of the face. On the lids I used matte peach shadow to pop the colours of Kate’s amazing eyes. We decided to give a gentle nod to the 60′s influenced hair by drawing a very thin sharp black line next to the lashes with CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir, extending out past the end of the lash line to open the outer corners of the eye. Lashes were coated twice with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir (available in September 2010), and bottom lashes were left naked. To open the eye further, I swept the new nude CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair (available in July 2010) inside the lower eye lid . I worked to elongate and define the brows with a liquid brow pen by Anastasia. The cheeks were CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Temptation, (available in July 2010) and the lips were CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Secret.”

To get Kate’s 30′s inspired look, Kate started out with a new liner from the Fall 2010 collection available in July 2010, CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, inside the eyes to pop their amazing colours! She then used CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Taupe Grisé, also available in July, from the lash line to the brow bone, gently gradating as she went.

She blended almost up the brow bone and mirrored under the lower lash line to complete the gentle wash of colour. Lashes were curled, and a generous coating of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir completed the eyes. Her cheeks were CHANEL Powder Blush in Imprevu which she applied to the cheekbones and across the bridge of the nose. Finally, on her lips she used CHANEL Rouge Coco in Rose Comete, a soft blue pink.

Hair Tutorial: How to get Kate Bosworth’s hairdo at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2010

Create her look from home with these easy to follow, DIY tips from Laini Reeves, owner and creative director of Essensuals London (essensualslondon.com):

Step 1: Begin with damp hair. Laini used Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue on Kate’s hair before blowdrying, a weightless formula that helps to smooth the hair and give amazing shine.

Step 2: Part the hair to one side and blowdry hair in the opposite direction to the way it sits naturally. Once dry, push the hair back to the other side to make a lifted, sweeping part.

Step 3: Pull all the the hair to the back of the head and secure in a side pony tail at the nape of the neck. Make sure the pony tail is loose and baggy to ensure a soft, modern look.

Step 4: Take the end of the pony tail and roll upwards and under itself. Secure the the ends under the band with pins.

Step 5: Finish with a light holding spray such as Shu Uemura Art of Hair Sheer Lacquer.
