Talking Makeup and Marta Walsh has just found out Maybelline New York’s fashion week S/S 2011 lineup!

Maybelline New York, the official makeup sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City’s Lincoln Center, will be creating runway makeup looks for the following shows: BCBG MAX AZRIA, Michael Angel, Vivienne Tam, Z Spoke by Zac Posen, DKNY, Custo Barcelona, Carlos Miele and L.A.M.B. Leading backstage teams will be the inspirational and sought after Charlotte Willer, Maybelline New York’s Global Makeup Artist.

This Fall/Winter 2010 season marked the 15th Anniversary of MAC Cosmetics involvement in New York Fashion Week and their impact in London, Paris and Milan was bigger than ever before! MAC Cosmetics supported nearly 200 shows during the Fall/Winter 2010 Collections. MAC continued as the official sponsor of London Fashion week, had a strong presence in Milan and Paris, and hosted shows, events and presentations at MAC & Milk and throughout New York.

Fall/Winter 2010 was an inventive and inspiring season for beauty. This season, Makeup Artists asked the question: “What is luxurious makeup?” The answer was not opulence, but, rather, a sense of individual enhancement based in reality. Lyne Desnoyers, Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC, called it “flirting with luxury on a contemporary face.”

MAC Makeup Trends: A few memorable MAC products that created the latest trends include

MAC Opulash Mascara: This new mascara with a supersized brush produced plush, extravagant lashes on the runway. Adding dramatic volume and curl, it formed lush lashes – bigger, badder, more opulent eyes. Opulash was key in such shows as DSquared2, Blumarine, Max Mara and Chado Ralph Rucci.

MAC Prolongwear SPF 10 Foundation: Creamy and lightweight, this yet-to-be-introduced foundation was a hit! Providing ample playtime and easy blending, it also demonstrated 15-hours of wearability and garnered raves backstage at Chado Ralph Rucci, PORTS 1961 and Timo Weiland.

MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder: A backstage essential, Smolder Eye Kohl lined lids throughout all four cities. Its creamy texture and versatility allowed for smudged, smokey looks as well as dramatic, etched dark definition. It framed eyes at such shows as L.A.M.B., Zac Posen, Tadashi Shoji and Vivienne Westwood Gold Label.

MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry: Forget subtlety – this season, bold, bright lips were front and center. Lip Pencil in Cherry was the crucial ingredient, forming, priming and making colour come forward. Paired most often with Lady Danger and Russian Red Lipsticks, it was seen at DSquared2, Doo.Ri, Donna Karan and Moschino.

New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010: NARS Cosmetics created the makeup look at the Marc Jacobs AW2010 show.

INSPIRATION: “I was inspired by the film La Vie des Autres. I wanted the models to have a dirty look as if the hair and makeup had been slept in,” said designer Marc Jacobs, who specifically requested Barbarella lipstick to be used on the models’ lips.

LOOK: “This look is what you’d see on a girl from the East Village or St. Germain des Pres-an existentialist with a modern twist,” said NARS Cosmetics Founder and Creative Director François Nars whose application technique included using his fingers to achieve the faded effect. “These girls are sexy and cool. Their makeup looks dirty and worn out as if it has been on all night but still translates beautifully on the runway.”

1. PREP: Prep your face with foundation and blush.

2. EYEBROW PENCIL: Take an eyebrow pencil and create little hair like strokes. Don’t go too heavy!

3. BROW COMB: Blend in any heavy or harsh lines with a brow comb.

4. BROW GEL: Take the brow gel and make upward and outward strokes. This sets the look and tames down unruly hair.

5. MASCARA: Start at the base and work your way out. This opens up the eye and creates dramatic volume.

6. LIP GLOSS: Finish off the look with a great lip gloss!
