Sienna Miller was spotted with bangs in London, May 26th, 2010, for the the Matthew Williamson’s (the handsome man on right) new store opening. I find Sienna’s entire look inspiring: dress, shoes, handbag, and red lips. Bangs look great on Sienna, however, I would have to pass that look on me. I do not look good with bangs. It’s good to be inspired by others sometimes but I have to keep something of my own.

I’m excited to share with you my interview with Leigh Lezark who is Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and is one of CHANEL’s brand ambassadors. In addition, Lezark is music’s “it” girl and the one-third of the New York City-based DJ trio The Misshapes. You might also know Leigh for her modeling particularly from a GAP ad wearing their classic leather jacket. Recently, Leigh who is a long-time fan of Matthew Williamson’s designs, wears a limited edition kaftan Williamson has designed celebrating Belvedere Vodka’s exciting new flavor, Pink Grapefruit. Leigh, one of New York City’s most influential music and fashion muses, will model the print for the first time at the launch party for Pink Grapefruit this month.

In this interview Leigh Lezark talks to Marta Walsh about her love for music. The Misshapes. Her modeling experience. What really inspires her. What’s in her makeup bag, style, and future plans.

Marta Walsh: Where do you call home?
Leigh Lezark: New York City

MW: What were some of your first memories of falling in love and greatly interested with music?
LL: My parents had the Doors L.A. Woman on cassette, I wouldn’t let us drive anywhere without listening to it.

MW: What were some of your big breaks as a model?
LL: I’ve been able to work with a lot of amazing people, from modeling some of Matthew Williamson’s designs, to being shot by Steven Meisel to working with Karl Lagerfeld.

MW: What life lessons have you learned from you career as a model?
LL: I’d say I’ve learned more from DJ’ing than modeling as music is my first love, it’s essential to be confident in whatever you’re doing and the rest will come naturally.

MW: How did your involvement with The Misshapes come about? What do you love most about DJ-ing?
LL: I met my 2 DJ partners Greg and Geordon at Don Hills, the club where we later threw Misshapes. The party started because at the time we were bored with the nightlife in NY so we decided to throw a party that not only our friends would want to be at but we would want to be there ourselves.

MW: What and who inspires you?
LL: My friends

MW: How would describe your own personal style and what’s your philosophy about beauty?
LL: I wouldn’t describe my style as one set thing, it’s ever changing. My philosophy on beauty is less is more.

MW: What was the first film you’ve ever watched on a date?
LL: The first movie I can remember going to on a date was Clueless

MW: What’s in your makeup bag?
LL: Mac black eyeliner, mascara, tinted moisturizers, Chanel eye gloss

MW: What one or two things some people may not know about you?
LL: My hair is naturally very blonde.

MW: What’s next for you?
LL: My suitcase. I’m going to St Tropez this weekend for resort and next weekend I’ll be in Cannes for work.

How To Get This Look Step by Step:

Step 1: Draw a clean side part. Use a straightening iron from roots to the top the ear so that hair is smooth against the head.

Step2 : Create a visual divider between the upper and lower sections of hair, as products and styling will be different above and below the ear. Place metal clips horizontally around the head  from ear to ear to create this line.

Step 3: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener onto the top part of hair for a high-gloss look.

Step 4: working below the clip line scrunch a cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam mixed with Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion into hair to add texture, volume and flexible hold. Brush through.

Step 5: Still working below the clip line, wrap sections of hair around a one-inch barrel curling iron to create ringlets. Set waves using a diffuser.

Step 6: Use fingers to loosen curls. Spray waves throughout with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray to enhance thickness, texture and shine. For textured hair, apply Aveda Sun Care Protective Veil for shine and gloss without added thickness. 

Step 7: Spray Aveda Sun Care Protective Veil over entire head to minimize flyaways and add shine.

Step 8: Create a high-gloss finish by spraying Aveda Brilliant Medium Hold Hair Spray above the clip line.  

Step 9: Remove clips and set the look with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray for light hold.

ghd Runway Report Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON Hair lead: Paul Hanlon for ghd.

“Chic. Graphic. Minimal.”

The Look: Straying from the typical bohemian style of collections past, Matthew Williamson wanted a whole different look for his latest collection. The result: graphic prints, structural designs, and a spectrum of vibrant colors and textures.

The ghd Way: Smooth, sleek, multi-textured hair polished to perfection.

First the ghd Directive Team prepped the hair with ghd thermal protector, dampening each section, to protect the hair from heat styling while retaining its moisture. This helped to create the perfect base for the ultra sleek style.

An extreme side part was created on either side of the head as a small amount of ghd obedience cream was applied throughout the hair. The hair was then blow-dried to a smooth finish using the ghd ceramic brush.

Using the ghd IV styler, the ghd Directive Team ironed the hair completely straight (the ghd IV mini styler was used for the areas closer to the hairline and on models with shorter hair), making it a point to achieve a sleek and straight effect without too much body.

To finish the look, the team took diagonal partings from the top of the ears, working towards the part line, and sprayed each section with ghd ultimate hairspray smoothing out the roots with a small brush. Each section’s roots were sprayed until damp and brushed down firmly while the ends of the hair were left untouched by the hairspray. To complete the look, ghd reflection spray was lightly misted throughout the hair. The result was a gradient of textures: slick and wet at the roots, slightly glossy mid-shaft, and completely dry, yet still healthy and sleek at the ends.
