Redken Creative Consultant Guido worked to create styles for two very distinct powerhouse collections at his last day of shows in Paris this week.

Miu Miu Fashion show Fall 2012

Playing on designer Miuccia Prada’s audacious pantsuits in the Fall 2012 Miu Miu collection, he created a 1970’s inspired look with a hint of masculinity: a looped “sideburn” on one side of the face. The models all wore oversized 1920’s-style hats at Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 show, and Guido again played what he terms a “supporting actor role.” Although no role in the over-the-top show could really have been small, as Marc Jacobs tried to outdo himself yet again this season with models emerging from a full-scale locomotive trailed by porters carrying their bags.

MIU MIU

“The look at Miu Miu today is a very seventies look – I created loops on either side that are inspired by sideburns, but for girls. So the sideburn-like -loop gives it a little bit of a masculine feel, but the rest of the hair is very simple. This simplicity is great as the makeup’s quite fun- so it creates a nice balance.”–Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

How To

Start with damp dry hair and apply satinwear 02.

Blow-dry just the top of the head so it’s smooth but leave the mid-lengths to ends of the hair to dry naturally.

Mist mid-lengths to ends with Nature’s Rescue radiant sea spray to give a natural texture.

Create a slightly off center part which is meant look a little boyish.

Take a small section on each side of the face from underneath the bang section and create a loop which stays close to the face, and tuck the end of the loop behind the ear and clip so it stays in place.

Stick it to the face using fashion work 12 and remove the clip.

“There is definitely a nod to the 1920’s in terms of the hats, clothing and whole look and feel of the show. I created a high topknot so the hats easily went over them. All you see is the hairline in the back so while it seems like a simple hairstyle, I had to make sure each knot was very clean looking.” –Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Louis Vuitton fashion show Fall 2012

How To

Apply Extreme Anti-Snap to damp hair and blow-dry, concentrating on the hairline to make it very clean, using a flat boar bristle brush.

Pull hair up into a high ponytail, secure with an elastic, and spray with fashion work 12 to clean up the hairline and any flyaway’s.

Twist into a small knot and cover with a small hairnet.

Finish with more fashion work 12.

Redken Creative Consultant Guido created a sculpted, wavy look to match the austere yet glamorous Miu Miu collection in Paris today. “At Miu Miu today, we’re replicating this new type of texture that we’ve seen a lot of this season. Miu Miu is Prada’s “little sister” so we used a similar texture seen in Milan at Prada as a reference for today. Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2012 Paris Fashion Week

How to create the hairstyle:

- Apply velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow-dry gel to damp hair and rough dry.

- While the hair is still warm from the blow-dryer, pull the hair into a knot at the occipital bone and let set for 15 minutes or until hair is cool

- Pull hair out so there is a slight wave in the back.

- For the front, create a center part and pull the left and right front sections (separately) slightly over the forehead to create a wave effect and tuck behind the ears (see picture below).

- Finish the entire head with forceful 23 hairspray so the hair is completely stiff to create a very hard looking texture.

Celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles worked with Hailee Steinfeld for the MIU MIU presents Lucrecia Martel’s “Muta” event on Tuesday, July 19thth, 2011. TM & Marta Walsh has the scoop.

INSPIRATION:

“Hailee’s dress was the inspiration for tonight. She wore a sweet blush colored Miu Miu dress, and I wanted her makeup to be sweet, subtle, and fresh.”

How to get Hailee Steinfeld’s makeup look:

“I used two different cream eyeshadows, CoverGirl Intense Shadow Blast in Brown Bling, and CHANEL Ombre D’eau in Source. I mixed them to get a muted blush tone for the eyes, and then accentuated the eyes by using a bit of Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Liner in Black.

at the corners, top and bottom, giving her a bit of a cat eye. So it didn’t get too severe, I softened the edges of the line with NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Caravaggio using the EcoTools Bamboo Smudge Eyeliner Brush.

I wanted the skin to be luminous and fresh so I mixed a little of the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint in Pearl into the foundation, Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation in #023. I applied a bit of NARS Multiple Bronzer in Tuomota to the cheeks and a dusting of powder, just on the t-zone, leaving the skin dewy but not shiny.

I tamed her brows with a bit of Anastasia Brow Gel and brushed them into place with the EcoTools Lash & Brow Groomer. I love, love, love her strong brows! Finally, a bit of a peachy lip, Ellis Faas Creamy Lips in #L108, kept the face looking warm and healthy, but without being overwhelming.”

Redken’s Runway Report from Paris: Louis Vuitton & Miu Miu with hair by Guido. Ending Paris Fashion Week with two show-stopping styles, Guido ended his three city, four week tour with Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. Guido created the perfect classic ponytail with curls at the ends and a piece of hair wrapped around the elastic. “We wanted to create a retro ponytail to complement the 1950s feel of the clothes.” -Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Hair Tutorial:

1. Apply velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow dry gel to damp hair with a round brush

2. Pin hair into rolls and let cool.

3. Pull hair into a smooth ponytail right (no part) below the occipital bone and secure with an elastic

4. Wrap a piece of hair around the elastic and secure underneath the ponytail with bobby pins to conceal the elastic.

5. Around the hairline, apply glass 01 smoothing serum and make sure all baby hairs are down for a smooth, sleek look.

MIU MIU

The look at Miu Miu was a sleek, straight mid-back length ponytail. Each model had either black, platinum or red extension wrapped around the ponytail to off-set the natural hair color. “The colorful extensions added a futuristic feel, a very ‘Manga Doll’ look.” –Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Hair Tutorial:

1. Comb all hair back and pull into a ponytail right above the occipital bone, secure with an elastic.

2. Apply hardwear 16 super strong gel to ensure the sides of the head are slick with no fly-aways

3. Wrap a hair extension around the ponytail (either a red, black or platinum extension)

4. Apply iron silk 07 ultra straightening spray to the ponytail and flat iron so it’s completely straight

5. Wrap a small piece of a hair around the elastic to cover

6. Finish with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for hold
