Red Door’s New Look:

In honor of Elizabeth Arden’s 100th anniversary, Elizabeth Arden is re-launching Red Door with a captivating new bottle and package design. It’s still the classic fragrance you love, now with a new signature look! For a limited time only, the fragrance comes in a 100th Anniversary Edition commemorative sleeve, reflecting the history of the Elizabeth Arden landmark building.

Originally created in 1989, Red Door is a sensuous and sophisticated mélange of rich, rare florals. Fragrance notes include Lily of the Valley, Freesia and Wild Violets, Red Rose, Moroccan Orange Flower, Ylang Ylang and Jasmine.

To celebrate Red Door’s new look, Elizabeth Arden’s new commercial and ad campaign conveys the transformative essence of the fragrance. Originally shy and hesitant, their model crosses the red door and emerges confident and glamorous – like, the fragrance transforming her into a more beautiful version of herself!

To get her gorgeous “Red Door” look, Elizabeth Arden’s makeup artist created a classic Elizabeth Arden red lip using Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick in Poppy Cream to portray confidence and beauty. With a bold red lip, she stayed neutral in the eyes and applied Color Intrigue Eyeshadow in Sparkle and Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Smoky Black to the eyelid. To finish the look, she coated the lashes with Ceramide Lash Extending Mascara in Black.

Emily Blunt looked dazzling at the amFAR benefit at Cannes, wearing a fiery red George Chakra gown, bright red lips, and hair in soft, natural, shiny waves Laini Reeves (her famed UK born hair stylist will be opening the much-anticipated EssensualsLondon Salon in Los Angeles next month) created the beautiful look.

The Hairstyle & Inspiration: “I wanted Emily to be beautiful and sophisticated but to look her age, with hair down and flowing in soft waves that framed her face,” she explained. “Since Emily was not only an event chair at the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS 2010 benefit, but was going to the party directly afterward, it was important to create a look that lasted long into the night. Emily has a lot of hair but it’s very fine and doesn’t always hold a wave, so I layered several Moroccanoil argan-oil infused products to give the hair a really nice healthy shine but to hold the style as well.”

The Step-by-Step how to create the look: Hair Tutorial

1) I first shampooed her hair with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo followed by Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Conditioner. Next, I applied a few drops of Moroccanoil Treatment on her wet hair, then mixed a cocktail of Moroccanoil Treatment with a pea-sized amount of Morocccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream and worked it through from root to ends to give the hair shine, strength, and a soft hold.

2) I dried the hair using a diffuser to encourage natural waves, lifting the hair at the roots. I also added a bit more Moroccanoil Treatment after I dried the hair. This product is fantastic because I can keep using more and more of it and it absorbs right in.

3) Next, I went lightly over some of the curls with a large curling iron to give them more definition. I wanted the hair to look natural and only curled the areas where the hair needed to be filled in. I then raked my fingers through the hair to break up and separate the curls.

4) I then sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray all over the hair. It’s my favorite hairspray. It holds the look but you can’t see it on the hair. It comes out in really fine mist and you can put more and more on without it getting sticky.

5) I finished the look with a soft mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray so the hair looked even more luminous onstage. It’s weightless like all the Moroccanoil products and gave the look a perfect finishing touch.

How to get Sandra Bullock’s Oscars 2010 makeup look:

Angela prepped Sandra’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid. She then used a foundation brush to apply CHANEL Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup in Shell all over the face. Angela created a structured brow with the soft brown powder in the limited edition Les Regards de CHANEL Palette. She lined Sandra’s eyes with the darker brown shade in the same palette.

Finally, she applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir for sexy, glamorous lashes. To create the real focus of Sandra’s look- a gorgeous, bold red lip – Angela applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris. At the Dolce&Gabbana Winter 2011 Ready-to-Wear show in Milan, The Designers’ showcased their Sicilian roots and fascination with “sartorialità” or tailoring, highlighting the jacket with keen focus on both perfection and sensuality. Dolce& Gabbana The Make Up added an aura of softness and seduction to each impeccable look, with washes of fresh, feminine color. On the runway, each model donned red lips and understated eyes created using Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up.

“This season, we took inspiration from our Sicilian heritage, and the art of traditional tailoring—sartorialità, ” said Domenico Dolce. “The beauty look was all about modern feminine perfection, with impeccably pure, detailed touches, like the stained lip,” added Stefano Gabbana.

Makeup Tutorial:

Backstage, Pat McGrath created the makeup look with Dolce&Gabbana The FOUNDATION Perfect Finish Powder Foundation Wet or Dry to create a perfected canvas.

Next, McGrath applied Dolce&Gabbana The BLUSH Luminous Cheek Colour in Provocative and Rose on cheeks for a feminine glow.

On eyes, McGrath blended the taupe shadow from Dolce&Gabbana The EYESHADOW Smooth Colour Quad in Nude onto eyelids, up to the brow.

She then created a slight wing along the upper eyelid with Dolce&Gabbana The EYELINER Crayon Intense in Black. Next, McGrath lined the inner eyelid with Dolce&Gabbana The EYELINER Crayon Intense in Nude.

The inner eye corners, center eyelids, and cupid’s bow were highlighted with the pearl shimmer from the Dolce&Gabbana The EYESHADOW Smooth Colour Quad in Golds. To complete the eye look, McGrath defined lashes with Dolce&Gabbana The MASCARA Voluminized Lashes in Black.

Models sported stained, red lips on the runway.

To achieve the look, McGrath blotted lips with a mix of Dolce&Gabbana The LIPSTICK Classic Cream Lipstick in Devil and Ultra, and then applied Dolce&Gabbana The LIPSTICK Classic Cream Lipstick in Dahlia to the center of the lips.

Gracing the front row at the show was Twilight’s Ashley Greene,007 Casinò Royale’s Caterina Murino, and Italian model and actress Margareth Madé. Each woman wore a different beauty look created with Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up.

Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week started today, and Daily Makeover kicked it off backstage at L.A.M.B. with designer Gwen Stefani. She gave us an exclusive look into what inspires her, how she creates that fab red lip (girlfriend does her own makeup!) and what beauty look her husband can’t get enough of.

What inspired the beauty look for the L.A.M.B. show?
The collection is based on a vintage, naughty, Hollywood starlet girl, a little bit of a modern, futuristic girl and a little bit of a soldier girl. I found these Ellen von Unwerth pictures with black makeup and the dark lips [that I loved] so we’re going to do the hair very set, vintage and glamorous with a lot of bangs.

The thing that I’ve learned is that you have an inspiration, you have a picture, an idea and it just evolves into what it’s going to be. You don’t consider when you come up with three ideas for a theme that you’re going to have a blizzard, a baby with an ear infection and the Chinese new year, but at the end of the day the creative process of having that pressure and that drama means you come up with things you normally wouldn’t. I can’t wait to see it all together. For me, it’s all about that part with the music and seeing the girls.

Red lips are a big beauty trend we’re seeing for Fall 2010. The red lipstick look is already one of your trademarks!
I just love when things that I love come back into style. I don’t have one specific red lipstick that I use. MAC’s sponsoring the show today, so [lead makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury] put a mixture of four different reds on me. I know she definitely used Russian Red. I tend to go more for the blue-reds than the orange-reds–I think they look better on me.

At Richard Chai, Gucci Westman for Revlon keyed makeup. Lips were defined with new-for-fall Revlon Suede Rhapsody Multi-Use Palette, set to launch in September 2010. First, Gucci applied ColorStay Lip Liner in Red all over the lip as a base, then painted on the deeper red lipstick from the palette which created a matte effect. “The clothes don’t have a lot of color, so I felt a pop of pigment was needed on the lips,” explains Westman.
