Inspiration: Rebecca Taylor’s gone downtown, offering this season a dark side: a nod to grunge with rich layers saturated in deep colors like charcoal, black, navy and bordeaux. For hair, Dai wanted to bring to life that edgy, downtown girl feel, a bit of dirty Parisian chic, and did so with heavy fringe bangs and tousled straight hair loosely clipped back.

How to Step by Step:

Blow dry hair and create part on the left side.

Braid a corn roll down the hairline behind the right ear, sewing into it 3 layers of (natural hair) extensions.

Cut heavy fringe bangs, angling over the right side of the face.

Pull hair back low and split in half.

Twist both sections towards each other and lock in place with a clear elastic.

Bonde Hair. I have very highlighted blonde hair thanks to my guy Alfredo at the Red Door Spas at Biltmore Fashion Park Phoenix. He does an amazing job to give me a very clean ashy blonde. Miu Miu is Prada’s “little sister” so we used a similar texture seen in Milan at Prada as a reference for today. How to create the hairstyle:

- Apply velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow-dry gel to damp hair and rough dry.

- While the hair is still warm from the blow-dryer, pull the hair into a knot at the occipital bone and let set for 15 minutes or until hair is cool

- Pull hair out so there is a slight wave in the back.

- For the front, create a center part and pull the left and right front sections (separately) slightly over the forehead to create a wave effect and tuck behind the ears (see picture below).

- Finish the entire head with forceful 23 hairspray so the hair is completely stiff to create a very hard looking texture.

How to create the hairstyle:

-Shampoo and condition hair with All Soft IPN shampoo and conditioner.

-Apply All Soft Argan-6 Multi-care oil and blowdry to create a soft shine to the hair.

-Take a circular section of the hair at the crown, divide into 3 sections and begin to French braid the hair starting in the middle. Continue the braid just under the right ear going all the way counter clockwise around the hairline, pinning hair along the way to keep in place.

-Pull out a few wisps of hair to keep the final look easy and soft.

“Overall this season, there was a simplicity and wearablility to the styles we created, but this is not one of them. Often we talk about Fashion Week hairstyles as being more fantasy and aspirational, and the look we created today at Alexander McQueen is just that…

All the models are wearing these very intricate masks that I designed with Sarah [Burton] and the idea came from the masks we created for the McQueen exhibit at the Met in New York. It’s always fun and different to work in a design capacity, so when Sarah showed me the collection, the “hair” evolved from there. Each headpiece is slightly individual. In order for the masks to fit on the models’ heads, we braided the hair underneath. This made the overall look more embellished and richer, as you can slightly see the braids through the mask.”

-Twist hair into a low chignon securing with gold barrette as a “cast” for the chignon.

-Finish with pure force 16 non-aerosol fixing spray and shine flash 02 glistening mist to add a rich, shiny finish, almost as if the hair looks wet.
