In November 2009, Estée Lauder named world-renowned makeup artist Tom Pecheux Creative Makeup Director. His first challenge: to create a beauty concept that links iconic French beauty with an iconic American beauty brand.

“As a makeup artist, I am known for making women look beautiful, sensual and sexy,” said Pecheux. “When given the challenge to create a collection exclusively for Paris, I thought it would be perfect to create a nighttime look, because this is when every French woman wants to look her most beautiful. I wanted to translate the seductiveness and femininity of French women into makeup.”

According to Pecheux, Pure Color Night is a collection of three must-have products to experience the chicest of Paris at night…from dusk to dawn.

“I wanted to create the ultimate in French sensuality and sexiness — black eyeshadow for a naughty, smokey eye; highlighter for a healthy glow and lips that men will not be afraid to kiss,” said Pecheux.

Pure Color Ombre Effect EyeShadow in Naughty Black creates a smokey eye with smoldering impact. Featuring a textured trio of matte, shimmer and sparkle, these dramatic black/ brown shades can be used alone or together. $20.00

Pure Color Luminous Powder is an incredibly refined and lightweight powder with a luxurious creamy texture. The Highlight shade adds a sensual glow to skin making it look young, healthy and dewy. $40.00

Pure Color Lip Gelée in Kiss Me saturates lips with a nude rose tint, giving the mouth a just-bitten wet look. Water-like high shine polymers amplify the glass like finish, ensuring a coveted seductive pout. $20.00

The Pure Color Night Collection is housed in chic, blackened-blue packaging with the Estée Lauder cartouche engraved on each lid.

Makeup artist Tina Turnbow for Beauty.com created a moonlight smokey eye effect using a shimmery dark gray eye shadow (from the Tarte Eye Couture Palette). “The color looks like the midnight sky and the irridesence is reminiscent of the stars,” she says. “The shape of the eye shadow is spherical because it goes well into the inner corners, which makes it look round like a planet and opens up the eye.” Even the lip has a celestial twist. “It’s a cloudy sheer white gloss,” says Turnbow. The models’ nails were painted with Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe nail polish, a midnight blue with lots of sparkle–another nod to the sky and the stars.
GET THE LOOK: Christina Aguilera wears NARS makeup at the 67th Golden Globe Awards. The Look & Inspiration: “I wanted to create a soft natural look on Christina to compliment her gown and new haircut,” said Kristofer Buckle for NARS Cosmetics. “Her dress choice was a beautiful pastel peach with silver. I didn’t want the look to fight with her gown. The final look is chic and seamless, with a earthy colored smokey eye and glowing skin.”

Below is Kristofer’s step-by-step makeup tutorial on how to to recreate Christina’s makeup look:

Complexion
· Use the Balancing Moisture Lotion and apply the Makeup Primer as a base
· Apply Firming Foundation and set with Pressed Powder

Eyes
· Apply the vanilla side of India Song Duo Eyeshadow as a base, over the entire lid and up to eyebrow

· Next, use the shimmering walnut shade of India Song Duo Eyeshadow and apply to the outer corner and under the bottom lash line

· Then, use the warm rich brown side of Cordura Duo Eyeshadow just under eye rubbing into the lower lash line to create smokey eye

· Curl the eyelashes and apply a coat of Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara to top and bottom lashes, following with 2 coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara for full lashes

· Take Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo and dot in between individual lashes [Kristofer’s tip:“I used the Push Eyeliner Brush to blend the eyeliner in between the lashes, which helped to apply just enough without looking to heavy.”]

Lips
· Use the Fantasia Lipliner Pencil and Niagara Lipstick
· Next, apply Easy Lover Lip Gloss (NEW for Spring 2010) over [Kristofer’s tip:“Applying a sheer pink gloss on top of a nude colored lip provides a nice modern pop of color.”]

Cheeks
· Generously apply Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) to cheekbones, décolletage, and shoulders for an all over glow

· Use Malaysia Multiple Bronzer to contour cheeks by blending under cheekbones

· Apply the Mata Hari Blush to the apple of cheeks and lightly tap on browbone [Kristoper’s tip: “Lightly dusting a blush on the browbone gives life to the eye and melds the whole look together.”]

· Next, with short, back and forth quick strokes use Nico Blush to highlight cheekbones

Orgasm Illuminator will be available at Sephora on February 1 and all other NARS Cosmetics are available at www.narscosmetics.com

Just In: Rose Byrne’s Golden Globes look for Lancôme by celebrity makeup artist Ana Marie. Talking Makeup got the inside scoop on how to get Rose Byrne’s Hollywood Glam makeup look at the Golden Globes Awards tonight.

Ana Marie prepped the skin with Secret de Vie Toner (her favorite!) and then applied Lancôme Bienfait Multi Vital moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and fresh. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Ecru was applied with a foundation brush and blended with a makeup sponge. This helps the foundation go on evenly and keep the skin looking radiant. To create a sultry smokey eye, Ana Marie used Lancôme Eyeshadow Quad in Innocence Couture.

The Positive shade was swept all over the eyelid and Fashion Scoop and Backstage Pass were blended just to the lash line and smudged. Next, Lancôme Artliner in Noir was used to create a cat line for extra drama. Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black coated the top and bottom lashes. Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Petticoat Pink was dabbed on the apples of the cheek and then topped with a powder blush, Lancôme Blush Subtil in Cedar Rose. This technique helps keep the cheek color fresh all day, even with the rain! Shu Uemura Loose Powder in Translucent was dusted on the T-zone to create a matte complexion. Finally, Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Simmer gave Rose her ultra-glossy pout.

Introducing The Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection.

“Hollywood is the birthplace of fantasy and dreams. The inspiration for the Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection is iconic Hollywood glamour, both past and present, interpreted for everyday life.”– Michael Kors

This Spring, Estée Lauder will introduce the Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection. This collaboration stemmed from the longtime friendship between Aerin Lauder, Estée Lauder Senior Vice President and Creative Director, and acclaimed American designer Michael Kors. “Nobody understands modern glamour and luxury like Aerin Lauder and the Estée Lauder brand, which is what this collection is all about,” says Michael Kors.

Estée Lauder & Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection: the Bel Air Beige Look

The Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection is a group of limited edition products that reflect both the timeless beauty philosophy of Estée Lauder and the luxurious, modern fashion style of Michael Kors.

Michael’s design perspective has defined modern American glamour. It is no surprise his presence pervades the modern Hollywood scene – whether he’s dressing celebrities for a red carpet event or attending award shows himself, Michael Kors is a name synonymous with Hollywood.

Two Glamorous Looks
Remaining true to the beauty aesthetic of Estée Lauder and Michael Kors, the Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection features two modern-classic looks:

Bel Air Beige showcases a classic Michael Kors beige and coral palette of shimmery peach lips and cheeks and a smokey eye.
Rodeo Pink spotlights new shades in vibrant raspberry tones of bright, bold lips and cheeks and a defined eye.

Both color palettes contain the essentials needed to achieve the Very Hollywood look of your choice and feature coordinating shades of Blush, Eyeshadow Duo, Eye Pencil, Lip Sheen SPF 15, Lip Gloss and Nail Lacquer.

Complementary Products
For added Hollywood glamour, the collection includes additional items for glowing skin and the perfect lips that can be worn with either look.

Estée Lauder & Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection: the Rodeo Pink Look

For Face
This lightweight, shimmer powder gives any skin tone a perfect lustrous glow. The silky formula goes on evenly, is streak-free and won’t clog pores. Apply all over the face or highlight eyes, cheeks and décolletage.

For Lips
The Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Lip Sheen SPF 15 and Lip Gloss in Hollywood Gold adds the perfect finishing touch to your pout. The Gloss can be worn alone or over the Lip Sheen SPF 15 for more luminous lips.

The Packaging
The Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection is packaged in chic beige with golden accents and housed in a beautiful coral outer carton to perfectly convey beauty, fashion and Hollywood as defined by two iconic brands.

Estée Lauder is excited to share the Blacker Than Black Makeup Collection (limited edition, launching December 2009) for a vampy, dramatic eye look. Just in time for holiday parties, six mascaras are introduced in a jet-black, sleek formula for lashes that draw all the attention while the Eyeshadow Quad in Black Smoke (permanent addition) creates that coveted smokey eye.

Now beautifully bold, dramatic eyes are just a wave of the wand away. Don’t be shy, make your eyes the center of attention with Estée Lauder’s new Blacker Than Black eye collection. This unique collection features six of Estée Lauder’s most popular mascara formulas each in a richer, more concentrated, more dramatic black shade for eyes that appear bigger, bolder, more dramatic! Because the mascara is so concentrated, it creates a contrast that defines and frames the eyes for a look that is at once highly sophisticated and utterly alluring. And, whether your look calls for lashes that are lengthened, defined, volumized, lifted, curled or a combination, you can achieve the look you want as each of these luxurious mascaras offer the same unique benefits as their original formulas, but now with the deepest, intense jet black effect.

Complete the look with the Blacker Than Black collection’s new Signature Eyeshadow Quad in four sultry, beautifully smoky shades that add even more to the bold look and Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in an intense black shade that adds luxuriant definition and complements perfectly the mascaras’ rich black hue.

Be bold and dress your lashes and lids in dramatic Blacker Than Black for a rich, smolderingly smoky eye—for day, for night, for any event.

A Selection of Richly Saturated, Intensely Black Mascaras

To achieve the intense jet black color, the scientists at Estée Lauder maximized color intensity and opacity using select Carbon Black and Black Iron Oxides and putting the pigment through an ultrasonic process. The result is pure, dramatic and intense jet black in a collection of six luxurious mascaras:

Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara in Blacker Black offers dramatic length and sensationally long wear in one effortless stroke and won’t budge, smudge, smear or flake for up to 15 hours.

Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in Bold Black turns even your sparsest lashes into daringly full, lavishly lifted lashes without the clumping, spiking or weight normally associated with volumizing mascaras.

Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara in Jet Black envelops each individual lash with high volume and exceptionally sharp definition for a sleek, striking look.

TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara in Turbo Black combines an innovative formula and brush design with a unique, power-performing, micro-pulsing effect that enables the brush to penetrate deep into the lash bed and comb through lashes more quickly and effectively, delivering all effects – volume, length, definition, separation and curl – in one tube.

MagnaScopic Maximum Volume Mascara in Black transforms lashes with dramatic volume, making them appear extravagantly full for a powerfully eye-opening effect.

More Than Mascara Moisture Binding Formula in More Black features a moisture-binding formula that conditions lashes as it defines and separates them for a look that’s smoother, fuller and longer.

All mascaras are Ophthalmologist-tested, safe for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes and fragrance-free. Each uses the same great brush design as used with the original mascara. For easy removal, try Estée Lauder’s Take It Away Total Makeup Remover or LongWear Makeup Remover Towelettes. Double Wear Zero-Smudge Mascara removes easily with warm water and cleanser or any Estée Lauder long-wear makeup remover.

Sultry, Smoky Eyeshadows and a Sleek, Intense Eye Pencil

The Blacker Than Black collection of mascaras is perfectly complemented by Estée Lauder’s new Signature Eye Shadow Quad in Black Smoke. This dramatic eyeshadow quad includes four beautifully rich shades to create the perfect smoky eye. The eyeshadow features a silky, microfine powder that won’t crease, gliding smoothly onto lids and blending seamlessly for a flawless look that stays-true all day. Packaged in a signature navy blue compact, this attractive compact can go anywhere for a glamorous day-to-night transformation.

Instantly frame eyes and complete the look of rich, smoky intensity with Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Onyx. This pencil’s unique lightweight, creamy formula glides on effortlessly for rich, stay-true color that sets in seconds and wears for 12 hours.

Turn heads with a sophisticated and smoldering dramatic eye look with Estée Lauder’s Blacker Than Black collection. Wear it on impulse. Wear it for fun. Wear it and get noticed!

Available at Estée Lauder counters nationwide and www.esteelauder.com beginning December 2009.

Lancôme celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali worked her magic on Fame star Kherington Payne at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere last night. Talking Makeup got on the inside scoop behind the rising star’s graphic, smokey eye, pretty golden skin and shimmery nude mouth.

To start, Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme’s Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, which kept Kherington’s skin fresh in the 100 degree heat. Lancôme’s Effacernes in Light Bisque –Vanessa’s favorite formula—was dabbed underneath the eyes. Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick was applied on select areas with a small brush and blended with the fingers.

Lancôme’s Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose delivered a glowy look and was accented with Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer #2 on the cheek and brow bones. A dusting of Lancôme’s Photôgenic Sheer Loose Powder, just on the T-zone.

For Kherington’s dramatic eyes, Vanessa layered Shu Uemura’s Pressed Eye Shadow in ME Black #990 and ME Olive #471.

Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony defined and elongated the lash line, and was paired with Shu Uemura’s Painting Liner in Black just at the lash line (on the top lid only) and on the inner rim of the eye. The finishing touch: a few generous coats of Lancôme’s Ôscillation Mascara in Black. Finally, Lancôme’s La Laque Fever Lipshine in Iridescent tied the entire look together.

The trend: Smokey eye with a girly, pink pout.
The Color Story: Inspired by who she has become, Avril Lavigne’s collection is rocker chic but with a feminine edge. The beauty look brings the seemingly contradicting styles together by pairing a messy, smokey eye with a girly, pink pout.

The Abbey Dawn By Avril Lavigne runway makeup look was created by Sephora PRO Beauty Team, lead by Gilbert Soliz.

How to Get the Look:

• Complexion – Even out skin tone with Sephora Hydrating Liquid Foundation. Buff on Sephora Mineral Pressed Powder to perfect the look.
• Eyes – Smudge Sephora’s Retractable Waterproof Liner onto upper and lower lash lines and apply shadow all over. It’s a messy, imperfect look so no need to be exact.
• Lips – Go for a bold yet feminine fuchsia tone like Sephora Maniac Long-Wearing Lipstick in Mat 01. Top off with Sephora Sweet Candy Gloss in Apple Pomegranate.

Emmy Rossum wears NARS during New York Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Week.

Emmy Rossum was spotted at multiple events this past week during New York Fashion Week. At Bergdorf Goodman for Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th she donned a bold lip and bright eyes. She loved the lip color so much that she took it from our artist to keep for herself.

At Marchesa’s SS 2010 presentation she opted for a more subtle approach pairing radiant skin with soft pink lips. “Emmy wanted a smokey-eye look suitable for daytime,” said NARS Makeup Artist Lenna Scarrot about the celebrity’s Marchesa look. “She wanted it to be more light gray- no black- like a seductive ballerina.” Her flawless matte complexion was complemented by a soft, seductive eye and a naturally glossed pout perfect for a day to night transition.
