I’m a girl all about the eye makeup. This is why I’m super excited about the latest launch from Make Up For Ever.  I got to try the NEW Smoky Lash Couleur in # 3 deep brown and NEW Khol Pencil #9k a matte mocha brown. The mascara makes my lashes instantly bold, long, and volume-full. The eye pencil is soft and makes it easy to draw a line thin or more smoky without pulling on the skin. It’s easy to blend. The shade is blackened-brown a nice break from black with a little bit of a softer effect.

Julia’s red carpet makeup was created by celebrity makeup artist Genevieve Herr who channeled a chic and modern look that played up Julia’s light brown eyes and her sleek black ensemble.

For a natural complexion, Genevieve used Lancôme’s new Teint Miracle Foundation, an amazing radiance-boosting foundation launching next month, Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and Secret Brightening Powder followed by a cream blush in plum on the apples of the cheeks. She wanted to give Julia soft, smoky eyes with a mix of blacks and plums. To achieve this, she first applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to line the eyes and then blended shadows from Lancôme’s new fall French Coquettes collection called the French Touch Color Design Quad. Her lashes were topped with Définicils Precious Cells Mascara in Black for a full, natural lash. She finished the look with a neutral lip using Le Lipstique Lip Liner in Sheer Natural, Color Design Lipstick in Love It! and a touch of Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling for the perfect photo-ready pout.

Supermodel Devon Aoki looked resplendent at last Thursday night’s, June 10th, 2010, Wildlife Conservation Society Gala 2010: Flights of Fancy at the Central Park Zoo. Makeup artist Jordy Poon gave Devon soft, smoky eyes with Lancôme’s Color Design Eye Shadow Quad in ShowStopper Style, along with a pairing of Le Crayon Khôl EyeLiner in Black Coffee and Artliner in Noir. For this collection, makeup artist Daniel Martin created a look reminiscent of a “1950′s Californian Lady-of-Leisure.” This translated to fuchsia lips paired with eyes that were lined on top (“just don’t call it a cat eye,” says Daniel) finished with sculpted cheeks and full, shaped brows. To create the look, Daniel used Lancôme’s new Teint Idole Fresh Wear Foundation, Blush Subtil in Mauve Coquette and Tropiques Minérale Bronzer in Natural Sunkiss. For the eyes, Daniel lined with Artliner in Noir and topped lashes with Hypnôse Mascara. The bright lips are courtesy of Le Crayon in Berry (all over the lip) topped with Color Fever Lipstick in Rock Icon Fuchsia.

For the 38th Annual FiFi Awards last night, makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor ensured that actress Saffron Burrows looked absolutely gorgeous. First, Andrew prepped Saffron’s skin with Lancôme’s Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, which Andrew likes pre-makeup due to its refreshing, weightless feel. Oscars 2010: From glowing skin to smoky eyes and perfect pouts, stunning stars turned heads on March 7th at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood. Helping perfect those looks was Bruce Grayson, makeup department head for the Academy Awards. As the lead artist for the Academy Awards, Grayson works with Hollywood’s top talents and is an expert at creating an award-winning look – and now he’s sharing his star-worthy tips for getting celebrity gorgeous at home!

Tip #1: Prep Your Skin

It’s important to prep your skin a few days before a big event. In addition to drinking lots of water and eating a healthy diet, the key to glowing skin is following a strict skincare regimen. For pre-event prep, try the Olay Professional Pro-X Intensive Firming Treatment ($62) – this two step kit combines a hydrating mask and tightening serum. Packed with an effective blend of anti-aging ingredients, it works to firm skin by helping restore its natural fullness, elasticity and tension. In just five days skin looks significantly younger and firmer!

Tip #2: Get Glowing

Fabulous makeup starts with a flawless canvas (aka your skin!). To get blemish-free skin, opt for a foundation that delivers the perfect level of pigment, such as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($59). Using the Giorgio Armani Foundation Brush ($51), apply with short quick strokes and paint your way to complexion perfection.

Tip #3: Get Smoky (Eyes That Is!)

Get sultry, gorgeous eyes by creating a smoky look. First, you want to combat any dark undereye circles with the Olay Regenerist Anti Aging Eye Roller ($22.99). Gently glide the pen under your eyes and voila – puffiness disappears in just 30 seconds and there is an obvious reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. Next, use the CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast ($7.49), a double-ended stick, available in six luxurious shades. Sweep the rounded end of the shadow all over the lid and use the angled end along the lash line and crease for bold definition.

Tip #4: Perk Up Your Cheeks

Add dimension to the face and cheeks with soft blush in a pink or peach shade. If you prefer some shimmer, go with Nars Orgasm ($26). If you prefer no shimmer, try Cargo Catalina ($26). To apply, simply dust the apples of your cheeks with a big, fluffy brush, blending outward toward the hairline.

Tip #5: Create Kissable Lips

To get the perfect pout, it’s important to prep the lips with a conditioner. Not only will this hydrate the lips, but it will allow the color to stay longer. Start with Karite Lip Balm ($8.50), an all natural shea butter formula that moisturizes and protects. Next, apply a red lipstick, such as YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Temptation ($34) or a coral shade, like Mac Lipstick in Vegas Volt ($14). To define the lips further, apply a liner, such as Nars Lipliner Pencil in Jungle Red ($20). Set the color in place with a high shine gloss – try Mac Clear Lip Glass ($14) or Nars Lip Gloss in Triple X ($24).

New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010: Seattle native and downtown New York denizen Chris Benz saw all of his influences collide in a spectacular way on Monday, Febuary 15, 2010, for his Fall 2010 presentation. The collection mixes the patterns, textures and utility of clothes made for the Great Outdoors as worn by the renegade, Outward Bound Debutante.

Makeup Tutorial: Lead makeup artist Daniel Martin (who helped create the Chris & Tell shade with the designer for Spring 2010) wanted a “makeup” makeup look, so he and Chris settled on what they’re calling Gothic Chic. The eyes and the lips were given equal attention. The eyes were smoky in gradations of shimmery charcoal and chocolate. Daniel used the new Ombre Magnétique, a mousse-like cream shadow, in black, layered with Color Design Eye Shadow in Guest List, an opaque espresso shade. For the lashes, several coats of Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black, and for the eyeliner, Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner in Noir along the waterline, completed the look.

The lips were just as prominent. In a surprise twist, Daniel used Le Crayon Poudre brow pencil in Sable as lip liner, to get a specific gradated gothy lip look inspired by a photograph of Kate Moss from the 90’s. Over it, Daniel debuted the new Color Design matte lipstick in Bronze Show. (Available in mid-March 2010, exclusively at Macy’s.) He topped it all with Juicy Tubes in Hallucination just on the center of the bottom lip for dimension.

For the complexion, Photôgenic Lumessence foundation enhanced the entire face (even the models’ ears!), Shu Uemura’s Sheer loose powder delivered a high-def finish that withstood the bright lights of the studio where the presentation was held. Finally, the cheeks were treated with two Blush Subtil shades: Cappucine for definition and Mauve Coquette for a pop of color.

Editorial manicurist Ana Maria gave each model pretty hands and feet using Lancôme’s new polish in Sweet Nude (part of a mini trio, new for fall). As for the hair, Redken stylist John Ruidant wove intricately braided updos that matched the mood of the collection.

At the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, music’s all-stars showcased several beauty looks on the red carpet.

Bright Pinks

The award show season is officially upon us, which means gorgeous gowns and trendsetting beauty looks are de riguer on the red carpet. The Golden Globes set the bar pretty high, but the the Screen Actors Guild  Awards (SAG), which were held on Saturday, took the glam factor to the max. They say true glamour never goes out of style and in the case of Diane Kruger, Anna Kendrick and Marion Cotillard, this couldn’t be more true. Each of these stunning stars opted for retro, old-school Hollywood vibe, which meant classic, structured updo’s, seriously smoky eyes, lots of lashes and a strong lip look. We think Diane stole the show with her creamy red lip, porcelain skin and sleek hairstyle, but bright-eyed newcomer Anna and French siren Marion were also red carpet standouts with their bold, colorful eyeshadow and side-parted ‘dos.
