Just in time for summer, Tom Brophy Salon introduces the refreshing Healthy Scalp Treatment, and and suggests that clients use the Davines Muesli and Yogurt Shampoo & Conditioner to maintain their results at home.

“A healthy scalp is integral to overall hair health,” states British-born Tom Brophy, previously Vidal Sassoon’s Art Director, who has been a leading educator and stylist for over 25 years. “A lot of women suffer from problems such as itchiness, redness and dandruff, and this treatment addresses these specific conditions.”

Davines Muesli and Yogurt Conditioner available at Tom Brophy Salon.

The 4-step Healthy Scalp Treatment is specifically formulated to cleanse, moisturize and nourish the scalp to alleviate conditions mentioned above. The first step is exfoliation using a cleansing oil made of rice bran and orange oil that removes sebum gently. A scalp massage performed during exfoliation purifies and relieves tension. The second step involves application of a cleansing shampoo that absorbs sebum and dirt during foaming massage. The third step is a special moisture treatment that creates a “water veil” to protect the scalp and add luster to the hair, which prevents the scalp from getting overly dry and helps control seborrhea. The final step involves application of the nourishing treatment, which scalp problems such as oiliness, dryness and redness, nourishes cells in the hair follicle for healthy growth. This nourishing service retails for $60.

To maintain results at home, Tom Brophy Salon now offers the Davines Muesli and Yogurt Shampoo and Conditioner. The Davines Muesli and Yogurt Shampoo and Conditioner work on all hair types, fine or coarse, and effectively moisturize a dry scalp as they contain calendula, which is very soothing. The revitalizing Shampoo (retail $16.00) contains yogurt extract, wheat protein, hop extract, while the Conditioner (retail $20.00) contains carrageenan (algae extract), yogurt, yogurt powder, saccharomyces silicon ferment, magnesium, iron & copper. In addition, the conditioner detangles hair.

“What’s great is that the yogurt protein is laboratory created and duplicates the action of the yogurt protein, so it qualifies as a vegan product,” adds Brophy. “The shampoo also works as a great body wash too.”

The new Tom Brophy Salon is a refined sensory experience reminiscent of a modern art gallery. The salon focuses on sophisticated cuts and color services that work well over a period of time, in addition to offering high quality service to its clients. The salon is located at 9681 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills.
Spring Hair and Color Forecast Plus Low-Cost Maintenance Tips fromStylist Rex Dador and Colorist Michelle Vance of Tom Brophy Salon .

Spring signals longer days and warmer weather as well as a desire for lighter and brighter colors, with the looks in fashion defined by couple of new lengths for short hair and long hair, as well as bolder more natural looking tones for haircolor.

According to Rex Dador, Stylist at Tom Brophy Salon in Beverly Hills, “Cuts are getting shorter–pixie length–like that of Rihanna or Victoria Beckham, and we will see lots of bobs such as Taraji P. Henson’s graduated bob look at the 2009 Oscars. Bobs are timeless, versatile and can be easily modified from trendy to classic by cutting layers or leaving the hair one length.” For long hair, he foresees it to be more mid length, with fuller bangs or fringe. “Jessica Alba wears this look on the March Elle magazine cover. Bangs add edge to long hair and they are cut much fuller this season,” he adds.

Given the tight economy, Dador recommends finding ways to extend the life of a haircut. For example, he says: “Ask your stylist for a complimentary bang trim in between haircuts, that way, you can go a bit longer without having your hair cut twice. With longer hair, conditioning moisturizing treatments help to keep hair healthy preventing split ends from traveling up the hair shaft also extending the life of the hair cut, less time in the salon and less money.

According to Michelle Vance, Color Specialist at Tom Brophy Salon, “Spring is the time to stay away from very dark colors, and go lighter, yet select colors that are bold but natural, such as the golden-beige tones Kate Winslet had at the Oscars. Unlike strips of color that pop out, it is all about looking natural and effortless, where the color is blended in. For redheads, I foresee lots of copper tones, and for brunettes, lots of cool chocolate tones. To ensure natural results, make sure your colorist weaves the hair instead of slicing the sections.”

To keep color maintenance costs in check, Vance recommends keeping hair optimally conditioned. “The better condition your hair, the greater longevity of the color,” she says. “In essence, less time and money spent in the salon.” She recommends using products that contain UV protectants, and thermal protectants products such as Davines Momo Protective Fluid whenever using heat tools, because they will help prolong the color and prevent fading. Finally, if budget allows, she recommends going into the salon to get a longer lasting conditioning treatment. “These conditioning hair treatments can further prolong haircolor and minimize color fading. A customized treatment such as Collagen Hair Therapy offered at the Tom Brophy Salon is designed to restore and repair any type of damage, improve elasticity and strength from inside out.”

The salon focuses on sophisticated cuts and color services that work well over a period of time, in addition to offering high quality service to its clients. The menu of services at Tom Brophy Salon includes: blow outs, updo styling, three step hydrating treatment, scalp cleansing massage, color (tint and highlights), color gloss, color correction, permanent wave, relaxer, and straight perm/retexturizer.

The Tom Brophy Salon is located at 9681 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills. For more information about the salon or Tom Brophy, call the salon at 310.858.8780 or visit tombrophyhair.com.
