Kiehl’s Honors World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, with Limited Edition Hand Care for a Cure.

Maintaining its long-standing tradition of supporting HIV/AIDS charities, Kiehl’s Since 1851, the venerable New York-based purveyor of fine quality skin and hair care, is pleased to announce a renewed partnership with amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research.

In proud support of World AIDS Day, on December 1, Kiehl’s will introduce Hand Care for a Cure, a Limited Edition version of its customer favorite, Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. Donating 100% of net profits of each product dedicated to stemming the loss of life from HIV/AIDS, this heavy-duty moisture treatment is a thick, rich formula offering all-day care and protection to hands. Featuring a blend of select ingredients that allows skin to actually draw and absorb water from the air, this hand salve forms a “glove-like’ protective barrier against moisture loss.

“Dating back to 1996, Kiehl’s has been committed to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS by partnering with reputable organizations like Magic Johnson AIDS Foundation, YouthAIDS and amfAR,” said Chris Salgardo, president, Kiehl’s USA. “In fact, since 2001, Kiehl’s has proudly raised upwards of $1,000,000 for the cause! From inception, it has been our mission to always give back to the communities in which we do business, and to do our part to be a socially responsible citizen. And, we are thrilled that we are once again able to donate to amfAR, a charity that Kiehl’s has supported for many years.”

The World AIDS Day Hand Care for a Cure product will feature a unique design of the symbolic red ribbon – worn internationally to increase public awareness of AIDS and in the lobbying efforts to increase funding for AIDS services and research. Created out of red hand prints, this visual displays the many hands that AIDS has affected, as well as the many hands working together to find a cure.

SRP: 2.5 fl. oz / $12.50

About amfAR: Founded in 1985, amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. With the freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging areas of scientific promise, amfAR plays a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs. amfAR-funded research has increased our understanding of HIV and has helped lay the groundwork for major advances in the study and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Today is World AIDS Day, and of course, EVERY day is World AIDS Day at M·A·C!

The M·A·C AIDS Fund is a leader in the global fight against HIV and AIDS, supporting each year more than 400 charitable organizations worldwide that are working to combat the epidemic. 100 percent of sales from M·A·C’s VIVA GLAM lipstick and lipglass. M·A·C Cosmetics underwrites the cost

INDUSTRY LEADER
A pioneer in the HIV/AIDS arena, the M·A·C AIDS Fund has been a trailblazer for the last thirteen years, funding groundbreaking programs and regions that others have ignored. The Fund’s work has often led other funders to follow suit, investing in new and experimental programs and regions. As the largest corporate non-pharmaceutical giver in the space, the M·A·C AIDS Fund strives to raise awareness of four key issues in the fight against HIV/AIDS: prevention, the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS, access to care, and adherence to medications and treatments.

CORPORATE HEART AND SOUL
The M·A·C AIDS Fund was the brainchild of Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, co-founders of M·A·C Cosmetics. As the AIDS epidemic spread and began to ravage the fashion and entertainment worlds in the early 1990s, the two searched for a way to respond to their personal and profound sense of loss. Encouraged by M·A·C employees, they decided to make HIV/AIDS organizations the beneficiaries of the company’s charitable focus. The M·A·C AIDS Fund has become the heart and soul of the company, contributing to an employee retention rate that beats the industry standard by more than 20 percent.
