The special edition bottle includes an important call to action from Alicia Keys to, “Join our movement,” echoing her continued drive to encourage everyone to use their voice for change and make a difference in the fight against AIDS. 72% of children who need HIV treatment are not receiving it. By purchasing the special edition Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, your readers can join our movement and help get HIV treatment and loving care to children who need it most. Buying one bottle of Midnight Recovery Concentrate helps Keep a Child Alive provide one month of HIV care, medicines, and love to a child living with HIV.

Beyond treatment, there are many critical aspects of this HIV care: transportation to clinics; healthy meals that often are the primary meal of the day; fun activities for children to help them live positively and deal with the challenges of life with HIV; essential skills training for women so they can financially support their children going forward.

“Keep a Child Alive is working towards a world where everyone can lead fulfilling lives, regardless of their HIV status,” shares Alicia Keys. “Supportive partners like Kiehl’s are part of our extended family. They share our passion for bringing dignified treatment, care and support to children and families affected by HIV. Every action, big or small can make a difference and take us one step closer in making health care a human right.”

“Kiehl’s has a longstanding heritage of working to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic with our work beginning in the 1980’s, when it was taboo to even talk about the disease. Just in the past 10 years, we have raised more than $2,500,000 for the cause,” shares Chris Salgardo, President, Kiehl’s USA. “We are proud to continue this important philanthropic work with Keep a Child Alive, an effective, on-the-ground, organization built on the foundation that every person has the right to health care and that all children deserve a future.”

“Keep a Child Alive is different. We are a small, nimble organization, which allows us to go where the need is greatest and to support community-owned solutions,” states Peter Twyman, CEO of Keep a Child Alive. “We move boldly and with urgency in our work, and, with Alicia Keys as our Global Ambassador, we use our voice to raise awareness and rally resources to ensure that children, families, and communities live with dignity and have hope for their future. And our partnerships with companies such as Kiehl’s are so important for the work we do. We couldn’t do it without them.”

While great advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS have been made in the past decade—with 54% of adults now getting treatment in low and middle income countries compared to the 0.13% ten years ago—AIDS remains one of the world’s most serious health challenges. Statistics also show that without HIV treatment, half of the children living with HIV will die by the age of two, and 80% by the age of five. Over 16 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS.  As the startling statistics above make clear, there is still a lot of work to do to help children and families whose lives continue to be dramatically impacted by the virus.
