Cindy Crawford In VIOLET GREY
In VIOLET GREY’s latest cover story for their online magazine, The Violet Files, 49-year-old supermodel Cindy Crawford shares her secrets to defying the space-time continuum.
SUPERMODEL HAIR BY FRENCH HAIR LEGEND SERGE NORMANT
How did Serge Normant create Cindy’s lush style? He tells VIOLET GREY it takes just four easy steps in
1. Prep & Dry: To begin, apply Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer to damp locks, concentrating on the roots, and blow-dry strands smooth with a medium-sized round brush. The goal is to dry hair while creating bend at the ends and lift at the crown.
2. Add texture & lift: To further amplify the roots and create extra fullness, grip, and texture, spray Normant’s Meta Revive Dry Shampoo onto partings all over the head.
3. Curl & Pin: Create pin curls in a few deceptively simple steps. Wrap hair around a 1 or 1.25-inch iron, hold until hot slide the iron out without unraveling the hair, and pin the intact curl to the scalp to cool.
4. Brush & Smooth: Once hair is completely cool, release the pins and gently brush through the curls with a natural bristle brush (Violet says try Y.S. Park’s Tortoise Wood Air Vent Cushion Flat Eco Styler Hair Brush.) For a soft finish that’s touchable, avoid hairspray. Instead, run a few drops of Normant’s Meta Sheer Finishing Oil through locks to finish the look.
CINDY’S ANTI-AGING STRATEGY, AS TOLD TO VIOLET GREY:
On taking care of your skin:
“…Results are cumulative. When a 35 year-old starts taking care of her skin, she won’t look different. It’s when you’re my age that you start seeing the payoff.”
On honoring a milestone birthday:
“I thought that writing a book, compiling photos and writing essays about my experiences might be an interesting way to turn 50. It’s probably what we should all do on our birthdays, to take a look back to examine our lives. When you’re in the middle of something you can’t see as clearly, so… it’s been a great journey for me to look back and reflect…”
On aging with grace:
“The secret is that there is no secret. Do all the stuff we know: Don’t smoke, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, find what makes you happy.”
On missing the nineties:
“Remember back in the ‘90s when people thought that a big bowl of pasta was a low-calorie option? Those were the days! Today, eating that is like eating a sundae.
