Kate Beckinsale at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival

Frederic Fekkai’s Adir Abergel tended to the tresses of Kate Beckinsale at the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival “Robin Hood” Premiere. The Hairstyle: Abergel wanted to create something with lots of volume and structure to mirror the full chiffon skirt of the dress. He wanted to pay a slight homage to the 1950’s pompadour.

How To Hair Tutorial

To prep the hair, Adir first applied Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel ($23) all over the roots and then worked some Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($23) from the roots to the ends.

Using a round brush, he blow dried the hair away from the face, and wrapped it around velcro rollers as the hair was cooling down to create extra body and movement. Once it was completely dry, the velcro rollers were removed and Adir waved random pieces of hair with a medium size barrel iron.

To finish this look Abergel backcombed the hair, pulling all her tresses into a classic French twist, and securing with bobby pins. He finished the look by hand raking the front of the hair to add volume in the front, inspired by a 1950’s pompadour with texture, height and movement. He sealed the look with the Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray ($23).
