5 Reasons To Exfoliate Your Skin
My skincare routine simply isn’t complete without one key step: exfoliating my face. Before I discovered exfoliating, I would struggle to get rid of old and tired skin, which doesn’t comes off easily with just water in the shower. I thank god for inventing a face scrub… ohhh, the little things in life. Here are 5 reasons to exfoliate.
1. It gives me an excuse to use my favorite face scrub: the Simple Skincare Smoothing Facial Scrub, which gently lifts dry, dead skin cells and helps my skin look brighter and more evenly textured. Rice Powder is the exfoliating ingredient in this one, and it works.
2. It makes my 2 favorite foundations – Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup and Laura Mercier NEW SmoothFinish Foundation Powder – go onto my skin with ease, and makes my final look super smooth and radiant.
3. When my skin is nicely exfoliated it minimizes any skin breakouts, so I don’t need to fuss with my face too much. Now I have extra time to focus on other parts of my beauty routine, like a manicure & pedicure. Hello to my classic nail polish brand and my old time favorite Essie! The latest in shades are back to the classic Essie Wicked deep purple, red, back color and Essie Bordeaux, both of which were super hot in the 1990s. I hear you can even layer the two together… first 1 coat of Bordeaux and then 1 coat of Wicked and there you are-Runway material! Other amazing neutral shades are Essie Waltz – a clean white – and Essie Sugar Daddy, the perfect light pink.
4. My face moisturizer goes on a lot smoother, and I think exfoliating makes it more effective. My Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15 is thanking me right now.
5. I call this the “Spillover Effect” – when I exfoliate my skin, I then can’t help but exfoliate my lips, too, to get rid of that gross flaky skin. This makes my lips smoother and even makes them look plumper. All I need now is to add NARS Paris Follies Large Than Life Lipgloss on top and I’m ready to go.
