Launched this week, diptyque introduces a new limited edition Valentine’s Day Collection titled Rosa Mundi, which includes a new candle, scented oval, solid perfume, scented drawer liners and a multi-use fragrance. What makes this collection even more special is that diptyque has partnered with Antoinette Poisson, the French domino paper making company which specializes in interior design wallpaper, for the design of the collection. They have hand created two unique domino paper designs for the brand in honor of the Rosa Mundi scent.

diptyque’s three founders were driven by the same passion – interior décor and drawings – and they first created textiles in 1961 sold at the brand’s original boutique on 34 boulevard St. Germain in Paris. Their creations included domino paper. Paying tribute to the founder’s creations, diptyque is partnering with the French paper making company, specializing in interior design wallpaper, Antoinette Poisson for a Valentine’s Day collection – Rosa Mundi – launching in January 2017, reinventing the domino paper. Antoinette Poisson’s founders use traditional techniques of the 18th century to create two special paper patterns specific for diptyque, titled #26 (floral pattern) and #27 (geometric pattern). These can be used like wallpaper or hung and framed for decoration. Traditionally, each new domino paper pattern created by Antoinette Poisson is assigned a unique number for reference. The process is hand-made (see below for images). A roller is used to apply ink to the engraver’s block. Color is then applied using a stencil. The freshly painted sheet is revealed and then the domino paper is dried until ready.
