Estée Lauder Introduces Holiday Compact Collection 2008

Holiday is all about tradition, and each year Estée Lauder unveils a stunning, limited-edition collection of solid perfume and powder compacts that stirs the imagination and enchants collectors around the world.

This season of giving, the tradition continues with a collection of intricate new designs inspired by the revelry of the holiday, children at play and the wonders of nature.

These elaborate pieces include large, breathtaking crystals, dynamic moving parts, high attention to details and vibrant colors that customers have come to expect from the Estee Lauder compacts. Once again, celebrated American designer, Jay Strongwater, creates six fanciful designs boasting his magnificent enamel and stone work. Powder compacts feature the universally wearable Lucidity Pressed Powder and for the first time, Re-Nutriv Intensive Comfort Pressed Powder. Estée Lauder has produced a new edition of collectible compacts every year since the first pressed powder compact in 1963. In1967, the very first solid perfume compact was introduced: Youth Dew Boutique Oval Compact.

This elegant accessory paved the way for hundreds of original designs, inspired by fashion, art, history, nature and even the fragrances themselves. Over the years, world renowned artists such as Judith Lieber and Jay Strongwater have contributed their inspiration and glorious craftsmanship to the collection, which also includes original designs from Mrs. Estée Lauder herself. Each compact is then handcrafted by a specialized team of artisans schooled in the fine art of costume-jewelry making.

To date more than 750 one-of-a-kind designs have been created, and thousands have sold worldwide. When it’s not traveling the world, the permanent collection is catalogued and archived at Estēe Lauder headquarters in New York City.
