Giorgio Armani Beauty’s NEW Smoky Eye

“What is attractive in a woman is a certain self-assuredness… it is in her eyes that one senses her strength” –Giorgio Armani

Fashion and beauty synonymously influence each other. While Spring fashion will be in full swing under the tents in Bryant Park come September, the runways of Fall 2009/Winter 2010 will soon be coming to life! While the beloved black smoky eye is coveted by all women, a new twist was added this year to give it a fresh and just-as-chic look – royal purple! As seen on various runways, the purple smoky eye was paired with both nude and intense lips. For Giorgio Armani’s Fall 2009/Winter 2010 fashion shows, feminine, yet intense smoky eyes with hints of purple and bold red lips ruled the catwalk.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Fall 2009/Winter 2010 runway show. The Look: The Purple Smoky Eye

Right on trend, Giorgio Armani Beauty introduces the Eyes to Kill eye shadow palettes in four shades, including Gun Metal Grey – a daring grey center surrounded by gun metal grey wrapped in a royal purple. Tim Quinn, Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Celebrity Makeup Artist, says “Purple is the new black when it comes to smoky eye. It is just as intense as black, but in a more subtle and daring way that still creates the allure of the sexy, smoky eye.”

The design of a bull’s eye provides three shadows to line, highlight and shade eyes. Ranging from deep harmonies to soft high concentrated colors, Eyes to Kill palettes are available in Black Steel, Brown Copper, Gun Metal Grey and Red Iron.

Black Steel: a center of steel black, surrounded by a middle of pearl white and a ring of metallic black grey
Brown Copper: a center of deep brown, with a middle of gold bronze wrapped in a rim of chromed copper
Gun Metal Grey: a daring grey center surrounded by gun metal grey rim wrapped in a royal purple
Red Iron: a deep pourpre center wrapped in gold beige and surrounded by a red iron rim

With patented Micro-fil™ technology, the color and intensity can be built up gradually, layer by layer, with risk of overloading. The shades can be worn individually or blended together to create an infinite variety of perfect, personalized effects. The formula contains a comfort binding system for an amazingly soft feel, and ensures outstanding comfort and good wear.

The Eyes to Kill eye shadow palettes each have a suggested retail price of $58 and are available online at www.giorgioarmanibeauty.com  and select fine department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Barneys.

  2. I agree, the purple is the new black this season and I love it. Doesn’t matter nail polish, eyeshadows or clothes, it’s simply a gorgeous color if you know how to wear it.

  3. This smoky eye is simply gorgeous…remember though that the term ‘smoke’ refers to the makeup method, not the colour used.
