New York Fashion Week Report. NARS created the look for the Mandy Coon Fall 2011 runway show. LEAD ARTIST: Francelle, NARS Makeup Artist. TREND: Art-deco “inside out-lined” eyes.
INSPIRATION: “My inspiration started with a picture of my family in the late 70s; I thought my mom was so chic. I was also very inspired by these pictures of manta rays and came up with a very film-noir esthetic for the collection, which is very chic, but also very dark,” said designer Mandy Coon.
Honor Fall 2011

INSPIRATION: “I kept looking back to a moment with my grandmother in a department store. There was a gumball machine that I wanted, but the only one left was housed in a box that was a bit damaged. The idea of something slightly distressed, but still beautiful intrigued me, ” said designer Giovanna Randall. “The colors are warm – there’s a 70s sensibility but in an American sportswear way.”
NARS Opens First Flagship Boutique In NYC
NEW YORK, NY FEBRUARY 9, 2011 – NARS Cosmetics, Inc. announced today the unveiling of its first flagship boutique in New York City’s famed West Village. Located at 413 Bleecker Street, the 525 square-foot space boasts a design conceived by Founder and Creative Director François Nars and long-time artistic collaborator and friend Fabien Baron, of Baron & Baron.
François Nars and CEO, Louis Desazars, along with an intimate gathering of close friends of the brand, convened for the celebratory ribbon cutting to signify the official opening of the boutique. The flagship location, created as a unique destination where artistry can be cultivated and consumers educated, will be officially open to the public on February 10, 2011.

Since launching his eponymous brand sixteen years ago, François Nars had dreams of opening a namesake boutique. After years of searching for the quintessential site, he found the perfect location in the West Village and turned to Fabien Baron to help bring his vision to life.

Angie Harmon Makeup at 2011 SAG Awards
Celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes used NARS to create Angie Harmon’s look for the 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. Using products from the new Spring 2011 launches, Spencer wanted “to play up and define Angie’s eyes while balancing her golden-olive skin-tone with soft pinks.” BTW Angie’s dress by Monique Lhuillier.

Olivia Wilde Makeup at the 2011 Golden Globes
NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes to create presenter Olivia Wilde’s glowing makeup look for the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards.
“Olivia’s look was inspired by images she collected of what she refers to as ‘the French girl.’ I wanted her skin to be fresh and clean with eyes that extended outward. Touches of rose gold and sheer pink-veiled lips completed her youthful coquette-ish look,” Spencer said.

Christina Hendricks at the 2011 Golden Globes
NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali to create Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks’ exuberant look for the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards. “I had this vision of a big, doe-eyed, lashy look from the late 70s and early 80s. To keep it modern, I kept the skin dewy with shimmering eyes and added a pop of matte texture on the lips,” said Vanessa.
