Estee Lauder Hosts Top Beauty Bloggers

Here is another amazing post by my friend Laurie Costanza over at Beauty’s Spot reporting from New York City during Fashion Week. What a lucky girl!

By Laurie Costanza:

I am in awe. Tonight at the Company’s headquarters on 5th Avenue and 57th Street Estee Lauder’s family, including Leonard and William Lauder, placed the keys to the beauty kingdom in the hands of the world’s top beauty bloggers. The whole family along with Bobbi Brown herself and top brand representatives welcomed me and other Total Beauty Bloggers and executives into the infamous Lauder Salon over looking most of Manhattan.

Laurie Costanza.

Honored to be in his gentle presence, I spoke with Leonard, about his daughter-in-law who went to UNC. He thinks Chapel Hill is a lovely town. Upon first glance it appeared he adopted the southern gentleman’s feminine style by wearing a pink tie and matching colored shirt beneath his suit. On second thought I realized it was in fact a signal reminding all of us why we were there. Estee Lauder is partnering with Total Beauty bloggers for our upcoming October Campaign where we will go PINK to benefit Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Details will be forthcoming in the next month.

According to the Global Communications Director, Estee herself said in beauty we telephone, telegraph, and tell-a-woman. The Lauders are certain that Estee would have embraced the world of blogging. How I would have adored reading her blog. I will do my best, girls, to live up to the invitation extended to me tonight, and bring you the best of Lauder’s 29 brands. I also spoke with the president of Estee Lauder who was genuinely interested in reaching you, the Beauty’s SPOT readers.

Those are all the words I can manage. The pictures will have to say the rest for now.

Actress Julianne Moore Casts Her Vote at Burt’s Bees’ Election Day

Actress Julianne Moore casts her vote for natural at Burt’s Bees’ Election Day in New York City.

WHERE: Merchants’ Gate at Columbus Circle, New York City.
WHEN: Monday, September 15th, 2008.

Given the choice between natural and synthetic, what’s your vote? Burt’s Bees thinks the choice should be clear in personal care. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as it looks, many personal care products on the market positioning products as ‘natural’ may contain potentially harmful ingredients. That’s why Burt’s Bees and Julianne Moore are giving consumers the opportunity to cast their votes for truly natural personal care at Burt’s Bees’ Election Day in New York City.

Rockin’ Runway Beauty for Spring Courtesy of Rock & Republic Cosmetics

Rock & Republic’s debut cosmetics collection accessorized the Spring 2009 runway. This fashion week, Rock & Republic is unveiling more than its latest take on luxe fashion with a sexy edge. The iconic lifestyle brand is complementing its Spring collection with its own decadent line of rich, vibrant makeup, available in stores beginning September 15th.

In trademark Rock & Republic style, the spring fashion line boldly defies fashion conventions, pairing delicate fabric like chiffon and organza with hard structures like accentuated shoulders, cinched waists, and high-volume ruffles. Rock & Republic’s signature hard edge shone through the collection’s strong silhouettes in stark black and white. Super short dresses, graphic print leggings and skinny jeans with rouched zippers at the ankles stomped down the runway atop sky-high heels.

In conceptualizing the collection’s makeup look, Rock & Republic President Andrea Bernholtz parlayed this nonconformity into a striking take on the conventional spring aesthetic. “While most brands present spring fashion with light, bright, pastel makeup, that look just doesn’t reflect the audacious, rock-inspired edge of the brand,” Bernholtz explains. “Instead, we used a rock style spring smoky eye, with pale grays to lighten the eye and luminous skin to create that enviable dewiness we look for in spring.”

New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2009

Today is the first day of New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2009.

New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2009 run from September 5th until September 12th. Talking Makeup didn’t make it to the fashion week this season due to a very hectic schedule at this time but we are planning to be there next time. Promise! However, my amazing friend Laurie Costanza over at Beauty’s Spot is there as we speak covering the fashion week. So I though to share with you some of her posts.

By Laurie Costanza: Yesterday 320 Studios hosted Nuj Novakhett’s Spring 09 collection for some undoubtedly titillating fashion week foreplay. The small classic fashion district studio featured a charming balcony overlooking the expanse of 37th st from the Hudson River into the seemingly infinite troop of skyscrapers lining up in marching order towards the east side.
