Rachel Weisz at the 2010 MET Ball

The stars were out at the annual Met Ball at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, to help celebrate and raise funds for the opening of the Museum’s 2010 Costume Institute Exhibit. Between thunderstorms, the weather was humid and hair stylists were challenged to create glamorous looks that were not only beautiful but also frizz-free. Hairstylist Mark Townsend created Rachel Weisz’ hairdo for the ball.

The Hairstyle & Inspiration: “The theme of this year’s Met Ball was “American Woman,” and after seeing Rachel’s Oscar de la Renta dress I knew that we should keep her hair down and sexy.

How To: Hair Tutorial

I started by adding a few drops of Moroccanoil Treatment to her hair, to condition and strengthen it while reducing drying time. This helped ensure a shiny, healthy look. Then I blow-dried her hair with a medium-sized, round brush.

Makeup How To:

First, she shaped and defined Anne’s brows using Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre in Brunet. Then she applied Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony along the lash line and blended with a sponge tip to get rid of any hard edges.

Lancôme and Chloë Sevigny at the 2010 Met Ball. Chloë walked the red carpet in a teal lace frock by Proenza Schouler at last night’s Met Ball. Makeup artist Daniel Martin, who did the makeup honors, filled us in on her look. “We amped up Chloë’s lashes with tons of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black.”

For her lips, Daniel applied the cult favorite Pout-à-Porter Le Rouge Absolu lipstick in Proenza Pink. The bubblegum pink shade was first seen on the Proenza runway in Spring 2007 and sold out in two weeks. The last piece sold on eBay for $122.50. Daniel loved how it completed Chloë’s “raver school girl look.”

She is so young and fresh but at the same time so sophisticated. She reminded me of a brilliant film noir actress.”

Jeannia prepped Lily’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid. She wanted to keep the skin dewy and fresh, so as a base she used CHANEL Hydramax + Active Tinted Moisturizer in Sand. On her lids, she blended the deep brown and silver powder shades from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes.

Fulvia prepped Emma’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Serum. As a base, she applied CHANEL Teinte Innocence in Beige, topped with a bit of CHANEL Natural Finish Loose Powder in Clair. On the eyes, Fulvia used a new eye shadow palette from the Fall collection, available in July; CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Enigma.

Kate prepped Sienna’s skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Cream. She used CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Marine by wetting the tip then filling in the upper lids to form the base and depth of Sienna’s 60’s ink pot eyes.

To get Kate’s 30’s inspired look, Kate started out with a new liner from the Fall 2010 collection available in July 2010, CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, inside the eyes to pop their amazing colours! She then used CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Taupe Grisé, also available in July, from the lash line to the brow bone, gently gradating as she went.
