NARS was backstage creating the look at the Sophie Theallet SS2011 show. Makeup Look & Inspiration: “We wanted to fuse together both color and light. We were inspired by Chavela Vargas, the Mexican singer,” said Lena Koro. “Polished and bright- and coinciding with the prints of the clothing.”

Hourglass Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out
Hourglass Artistic Director Gina Brooke led an exciting choreographed makeup show with two other makeup artists last week for FNO, Friday September 10th, 2010. Set to music, three models were meticulously and fluidly transformed into beautiful faces of art.

Gina Brooke said, “The show’s about artistry, being innovative and making it fun.” The looks featured Hourglass’ Fall launches – Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick and Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.
Carolina Herrera Spring 2011 Collection

For Spring 2011 colors, prints, and floral appliqués were taken from botanical plates collected in the 18th Century. The cut and details of this collection were inspired by traditional clothes from Korea. The hat, customarily worn by men, and the wrapped belts complete the silhouette.

Paul Hanlon, lead stylist for Frédéric Fekkai, created a rough, tousled half-twist with volume and wave for Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2011 runway show. Hanlon began by applying Fekkai’s Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray heavily throughout the hair from roots to ends, creating texture and fullness.

Renato Campora, lead stylist for Frédéric Fekkai, created a modernized rockabilly style for this seasons’ Marchesa presentation. Campora applied the Fekkai Essential Shea Tame & Style Pot de Crème to the hair.

NARS was backstage creating the look at the 3.1 phillip lim women’s show. Makeup Trend: Nude lips and sculpted cheeks. Inspiration: “The looks are best described by saying they have the spirit of a modern female dandy- city girls in their strength but subtly whimsical,” said designer Phillip Lim. “Each girl is elegant with a sense of buoyancy.” The Makeup Look: “Youthful elegance was what we were aiming for,” said Lisa Butler about the look. No shine…polished, radiant skin “with dimension through sculpted cheeks.”

Makeup Look & Inspiration: “The look is very reminiscent of Angelica Houston in the 70s-the bleached brows and the deep eyes,” said François Nars. “I wanted them to look like iconic models from the 70s with a modern approach. Marc had images of what he wanted the makeup to look like – mimicking the colors of the clothing but not matching exactly.”

For the second consecutive season, Estée Lauder embarked on New York Fashion Week – once again sponsoring the beauty look (makeup & nails) at the Derek Lam SS 2011 runway show. Bright orange-shaded eyes, nude lips, peachy-bronzed cheeks and neutral nails ruled the catwalk at Lincoln Center on Sunday, September 12th, 2010.
