CHANEL and Seventeen Magazine Announce Winner of 2008 Colour of the Year Contest
CHANEL and SEVENTEEN are proud to announce the 2008 winner of the CHANEL Colour of the Year Contest. Amy Gonzo, 19, of Port Washington, WI, created Haute Chocolat, a shimmery chic brown nail lacquer with flecks of gold. It was inspired by her favorite holiday drink, hot cocoa, and is available in October 2008 at department and specialty stores nationwide as well as on CHANEL.com.
Thousands of entries were reviewed by Seventeen and CHANEL to determine the selected winner whose shade name and inspiration would be launched exclusively in the United States as part of the limited edition CHANEL Holiday 2008 Makeup Collection. The winner will be officially announced in the October 2008 issue of Seventeen (on newsstands September 16th).

Where did you gather your ideas for the CHANEL and Seventeen Colour of the Year nail contest?I gathered ideas for the Seventeen nail contest from my own memories of the holidays. I wanted to combine the comfort and warmth of the season with the chic elegance that is indicative of CHANEL.

Katie is also a singer and has just finished her first tour with 50 cent and the G-unit camp. Katie flew to Spain to open for 50 and sang her first song “SO N2 U”. Katie also just wrapped shooting 50’s latest new music video directed by film maker Charles Winkler. The video “Burn Me” will be his first single off of his latest album, due for release this year. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Katie moved to Los Angeles, California seven years ago to follow her acting passion.

Why have you decided on a career in acting?
I don’t think I chose acting, I think acting chose me. I always love entertaining people and I get excited making other people laugh. It’s a challenge and so much fun.

“Start with the CHANEL Professional Eyeliner Duo. Draw along the lash line, bottom, top, or both depending on the desired effect, and blend out with either your finger or a brush.

Line the insides of the eye with a kohl pencil in a dark colour for intensity, or use one of my favorite tricks of late which is to use a light color or metallic eye pencil to make the eye pop.
Next, take a flat brush and gently layer on the darkest eyeshadow shade on the lash line and lid being careful not to go beyond the eyelid for an intense smoldering look.
Mascara is definitely optional as sometimes the smoky eye looks great with none at all! The most important tip I give, is to work on clean skin. Apply foundation last, as then you can make sure skin is clean and avoid any circles under the eye.”

CHANEL unveils two new retail environments at Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York Flagship store. The newly renovated Fragrance and Beauté counter will offer consumers an exclusive environment to experience the world of CHANEL in an innovative way. CHANEL Ready to Wear will be available in the newly designed third floor boutique along with an expanded Accessories area on the first floor.
Inspired by the codes of the House of CHANEL, the contemporary 850 sq. foot counter draws clients into the world of CHANEL with dedicated areas for fragrance, makeup and skincare. The fragrance area invites customers into the world of CHANEL fragrance heritage with the debut of the patented Olfactive Bar designed by CHANEL deputy perfumer Christopher Sheldrake. Utilizing a new patented ceramic blotter system, the table houses the 43 fragrance concentrates encompassing the entire range of CHANEL perfumery. An on-site fragrance expert will offer clients an interactive olfactive journey through the house’s extensive fragrance offerings. An illuminated manuscript, the pages of which turn via a motion detecting sensor, will showcase the history of CHANEL fragrance, from historical images of Coco Chanel to the house’s renowned master perfumers.
The location will also debut the Les Exclusifs de CHANEL fragrance collection, including a global exclusive for BEIGE, the latest addition to collection of exclusive fragrances. BEIGE, a sensual outburst of hawthorn, freesia and frangipani, along with shimmering hints of honey, was interpreted by CHANEL Master Perfumer Jacques Polge. Additionally, the rare 225 ml, 450 ml and 900 ml bottles of the iconic Nº5 parfums will also be available, previously only obtainable by special order
