MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, Skin Refined Zone & Transparent Finishing Powder Q&A with Gordon Espinet Vice President Global Makeup Artistry, M·A·C Worldwide.

MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, Skin Refined Zone & Transparent Finishing Powder Q&A with Gordon Espinet Vice President Global Makeup Artistry, M·A·C Worldwide.

Q: What are the benefits of using makeup primer?
Using a makeup primer helps to perfect skins appearance as well as ease makeup application. It’s about using the best technology available to give the consumer the results they want, but without the a heavy makeup look. They want a visually perfect editorial finish without the use of additional colour products. At M·A·C, we are extremely focused on our artistry but are still very technology-driven. That is what the Prep + Prime Collection helps to do, in part by decreasing the need for additional color resulting in a more natural effect.

MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, Skin Refined Zone & Transparent Finishing Powder Q&A with Nick Gavrelis

MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, Skin Refined Zone & Transparent Finishing Powder Q&A with Nick Gavrelis, Vice President, Global Product Development, Face and PRO, MAC Cosmetics.

Q: Can you talk about the concept of the Prep + Prime collection? How does it differ from typical skincare products?
M·A·C Prep + Prime products bridge the gap between makeup and skincare. Given M·A·C’s inherent credibility with makeup, this premise has really matured over the years. The primer category has become more relevant and now has such a following that we needed to expand our offering. Prep + Prime is a unique franchise for M·A·C. When we launched the original products, we knew they would have a cult following – not just with M·A·C artists but also other professionals and ultimately the consumer.

MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, Skin Refined Zone & Transparent
Finishing Powder are part of the latest MAC Colour Ready
makeup collection.

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone, MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler, MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder

The MAC Prep + Prime collection first launched in 2005 with Eye, Lash, Lip and Skin, followed by Skin SPF 50 in April 2006. The products were an answer to the needs of the PRO makeup artist, who wanted products that created flawless skin on which to apply makeup.

The key point of difference in the MAC Prep + Prime collection from other primers is that they were developed specifically to be used with makeup while also offering skincare benefits. Most skincare products are designed and tested for use alone. Because MAC is first and foremost a makeup artistry brand, each Prep + Prime product was specifically tested to enhance the makeup wear experience.

These products are a true hybrid formula of both skincare and makeup, with a new view on technology and texture. Prep + Prime employs new, breakthrough formulations that have both accumulative visible long-term benefits, as well as immediate visible results on the skin.

As technologies and makeup artist needs are always evolving, MAC is introducing three new products to round out the collection and provide more advanced tools to its artists and consumers: Skin Refined Zone, Line Filler, and Transparent Finishing Powder.

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone is a partial primer designed for use in the T-Zone. This lightweight, oil-free, soy-based emulsion instantly helps minimize visible pores while helping to control excess surface oil and shine.
