Backstage at Tory Burch Fashion Show
New York Fashion Week Fall 2009: I was supposed to cover backstage at Tory Burch fashion show during New York Fashion week last week, and for some reason I arrived when the show actually began. I have lots of great show coverage but missed the backstage hair & makeup look. Thanks to Daily Makeover Editors Rachel Hayes and Megan McIntyre, I have the scoop for you!
Tory Burch Goes For Bedroom Beauty: “This is a very sexy, gorgeous look,” says makeup artist Diane Kendal for MAC. She used a combination of black and gold shadows to create a sultry, smoky eye. “We didn’t use any mascara which gives it an edgier look,” she says. A hint of gold shimmer was also in the soft pink blush. “Gold is definitely a popular metallic accent for this season.” Lips were neutral and glossy thanks to MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bai, a light, pearly beige.
Edward Tricomi Cuts Marta Walsh’s Hair-The Photos
Thanks to my fabulous friend photographer, Amber McLinn, I have the images of Edward Tricomi cutting my hair at the Warren Tricomi New York The Plaza, backstage at the Luca Luca fashion show during New York Fashion Week Fall 2009.

Warren Tricomi New York The Plaza
On my recent trip to New York city for fashion week I stopped by at the Warren Tricomi salon at The Plaza Hotel. The salon is just beautiful! I was there to cover hair and makeup for the Luca Luca fashion show for Fall 2009.
I met Edward Tricomi and Joel Warren which was quite a thrill for me.

After I was introduced to Edward Tricomi I asked Edward if he approved my hairstyle. Edward examined my hair for few seconds and asked if he can fix my haircut because “it just doesn’t flow”. His assistant blew dry my hair and prepared it for that one in a lifetime haircut opportunity with Edward Tricomi. There I was getting my hair done by Edward Tricomi.

Needless to say, Edward Tricomi did an amazing job! I LOVE how he fixed the pieces that frame my face. Although I chopped by hair right before New York Fashion Week about 6 inches (yes!!!) and I needed some time to get used to my new look, I was very pleased with my new hair. Before Edward Tricomi said goodbye to me he told me that he “cuts hair dry”!

How To Get Vanessa Hudgens’ Hairstyle & Jennifer Aniston’s Super Smooth & Straight Hair
More celebrity hairstyle tips by Tracy Guthrie, top Redken stylist and ULTA Salon at Miami Creative Manager.
ULTA Miami will be opening on Thursday, February 19th ULTA, the ultimate beauty destination, this is ULTA’s second urban location. ULTA Miami, will offer over 20,000 beauty products as well as a professional full-service salon.
For long haired beauties, like Vanessa Hudgens, this look is simple to recreate. All you need is a 1 1/2 inch curling iron and some flexible hold hairspray. First, separate your hair into medium sized sections and spritz each with hairspray. Then, instead of rolling hair into the curling iron, loop each section around the iron (do not clamp down) from the shaft to the end. This easily gives you the loose ringlet effect. Finish with another spray of hairspray and a dab of shine serum, for natural looking curls that will last all night.
How To Get Taylor Swift’s Soft Tousled Updo
Tracy Guthrie, top Redken stylist, finalist for the prestigious North American Hair Stylist Award, and ULTA Salon at Miami Creative Manager, shares with us some tips on how to re-create Taylor Swift’s Soft Tousled Updo.
To create a soft tousled updo just like Taylor Swift’s, first work a small amount of styling cream evenly through dry hair from roots to fingertips. Separate hair into four sections and curl with a large barrel curling iron. Gather hair up into a loose pony tail, twist and secure with bobby pin at the nape of your neck, leaving the ends un-pinned. Twist individual pieces of unpinned hair, securing each section with a new bobby pin. Once hair is in place gently loosen curls on either side to frame the face. Give hair one last sprits of hairspray before your look is complete.
Top 12 Flat Irons (Plus One Awful Hair Straightener)
See the straighteners that topped the list, and the one 50 readers threw in the trash

We think you should embrace your curls, but sometimes a girl’s got to go sleek. We don’t blame you but we do insist you use a good flat iron. A quality (but not necessarily expensive) straightener works quickly, damages hair less and gives strands a smooth, shiny finish. Bad flat irons? Well, they leave you a frizzy, damaged mess. Check out the irons TotalBeauty.com readers love (er, and one they hated). |
How To Get Katy Perry’s Hair at the 2009 Grammys
Katy Perry’s hair looked edgy-elegant and movie star fabulous for the Grammys last night. Mix-up a cool blend of Marilyn Monroe from “How to Marry A Millionaire” and a touch of Elizabeth Taylor and they were Katy Perry for the night.
Award-winning celebrity stylist Enzo Angileri styled the glam-noir look. Enzo’s favorite black and white Italian films and thoughts of La Dolce Vita were all part of the inspiration. Angileri styles the hair of the world’s most beautiful women including Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Faith Hill and Demi Moore, and has won numerous awards for his film work.
“Katy’s black hair looks fantastic on her,” says Angileri, “and the dress she wore was pure glamour. This look shows off her beautiful face and features, and emphasizes high-energy shine and the silky texture of her
hair.”
