Spring Hair Trends with TRESemmé

TRESemmé created three chic looks for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010 in NYC.

The Show: Whitney Eve. The Hairstyle: Fun and Flirty Textured Pony.

Hair Tutorial: How to get this hairdo: To coincide with the laid-back, fun-loving feel of the Whitney Eve collection, TRESemmé created a girly, textured pony. Using the right products, this playful look is easy to achieve at home:

1. Apply TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse to damp hair, and blow dry upside down using a round brush.

2. Spray hair with TRESemmé Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray, and lightly curl with a 1” curling iron for texture.

3. Gently tease the top of the head towards the front of the hairline for volume.  Using fingers, pull hair back into a ponytail towards the crown, and fasten with an elastic.

4. Create texture throughout the ponytail using hands, and finish with TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray.

Spring Hair Trends

Celebrity Stylist Celebrity Stylist for Pantene, Hallie Bowman dishes on Spring 2010 Hair Trends.

Hallie Bowman

This spring, it’s all about letting your locks embrace the whimsical, refreshing atmosphere of the season. “Last season, we saw a lot of conventional looks – super sleek, tamed texture, perfect twists and classic chignons. When I think spring, I think unexpected playfulness, so I’m excited that the hair trends I’m seeing are in synch with the essence of the season. Classic styles will go to the extreme or, as I like to think, depressed winter hair is finally ready to be exposed again, yet looks will still maintain a genuine romantic feel that reflects the positive mood of warmer weather.”

Spring Hair Trends

Spring Hair: Leonard Zagami Award Winning Creative Director of Anthony Leonard Salon in New York City, recommends the following trends for the well-tressed Spring hair:

STYLE: this Spring, go for a less coiffed and a more natural relaxed style. For extra effect create a strong center part or a deep side part. If you have long hair, try a thick extended voluminous braid.

ADD AN ORNAMENT: make the style exciting by adding a vintage style silk flower.

FOR A SPRING EFFECT: dip the ends of the hair in pastel hues or create subtle hints of the colors throughout.

Blow Dry Shops Hurting The Industry?

BEAUTY TRENDS: Blow Dry Shops

Beauty Icon Allen Edwards knows a thing or two about industry trends. After all, Edwards has been a leading force in the world of hair and beauty for over three decades. He is the owner of two full service salon and spas in Brentwood and Woodland Hills, CA and is the creator of the Shear Force hair product collection.

“Blow dry only shops are opening up all over town and they are charging $35…A price we haven’t seen since the 1970’s”, states Edwards. “They are pulling clients away from every major salon where professionally trained salon stylists charge $60 and up. The full service salons are loosing a huge amount of business and, in an already tough economy, it’s a major blow”.

Allen Edwards with Deal or No Deal Lucky #13 Leyla Milani

L.A.’s first blow dry salon “Drybar” opened its doors on San Vicente Blvd., just a mile from Edward’s Brentwood Salon. Drybar charges $35 for a shampoo and blow dry and customers are encouraged to schedule appointments on-line. The original blow dry salon is in Manhattan called “BLOW ~ The New York Blow Dry Bar”. BLOW is a full service salon, specializing in blow drys and prices range from $40 to $60, depending on the length and texture of your hair and what is needed to create the look. This format feels more professional to Edwards — If the hair needs more work, the client should be charged.

Rodney and his team just worked on over 30 shows during Fashion Week for Fall 2010.

The hairstyle and Inspiration: 20’s Parisian Lounge. “We wanted the hair to look finished and polished, yet loosely deconstructed,” says Rodney Cutler, lead stylist and owner of Cutler/Redken salons.
