CHANEL 2010-11 CRUISE BEAUTY

“Effortless, natural beauty, relaxed girls who are enjoying their holidays. That was the main idea behind the look for this show.”- Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup

For the show in Saint-Tropez, Peter used the following CHANEL products to create the runway beauty looks that accompanied the Amber brown, absinthe and mint green, sky and navy blue, and bright pink prints of the collection.

Rouge Coco

The Classic Makeup: CHANEL brings the legendary lipstick into the 21st century. The story: Mademoiselle was so fascinated by lipstick that, in 1924, she created a creamy stick of lip colour that she inserted in a rectangular tube, the exact replica of the iconic N°5 spray bottle. She went so far as to create a secret compartment for it inside her legendary ‘2.55’ quilted handbag. Today, a black case with a gold ring in smooth, luxurious metal gives a fresh feel that is instantly familiar each time you slip your hand into your handbag to find your lipstick.

The Muse: In 1992, Vanessa Paradis whistled and played an acrobat, lending her still-adolescent grace and already exceptional personality to the COCO Fragrance. In 2003, in front of Karl Lagerfeld’s camera, the French icon became the muse of the ‘Ligne Cambon’ handbag. Today, her modern elegance and bold character perfectly represent a range of lipsticks with an evocative name: ROUGE COCO.

CHANEL introduces NOIR ET OR Paris-Shanghai Collection

For the “METIER D’ART” fashion show in Shanghai, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, created an exclusive collection, NOIR ET OR. The collection is a glamorous fantasy of Shanghai in the 30’s and 40’s as Coco Chanel herself may have imagined it. The black and gold eyes and nails complimented the gilded and jet black accents shown on the runway.

First seen at the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear runway show, Les Trompe L’Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art was created by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup. “For the show, I wanted to play with the CHANEL symbols; pearls, chains and wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that announce the arrival of spring,” says Peter Philips. “I focused on a natural makeup look with chic beige tones and a slight touch of rebellion: the tattoos!”

Karl Lagerfeld gave me three key words: Neon Baroque, Chemical Pastels and Liquid Silver. For the lips I used the new Summer 2010 Rouge Allure Lipstick in Genial. This coral shade perfectly matched the Technicolor and Neon Baroque spirit Karl wanted for the makeup at this show.”- Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup.
