First seen at the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear runway show, Les Trompe L’Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art was created by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup. “For the show, I wanted to play with the CHANEL symbols; pearls, chains and wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that announce the arrival of spring,” says Peter Philips. “I focused on a natural makeup look with chic beige tones and a slight touch of rebellion: the tattoos!”

Karl Lagerfeld gave me three key words: Neon Baroque, Chemical Pastels and Liquid Silver. For the lips I used the new Summer 2010 Rouge Allure Lipstick in Genial. This coral shade perfectly matched the Technicolor and Neon Baroque spirit Karl wanted for the makeup at this show.”- Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup.

CHANEL Introduces Fall 2009 Venice Makeup Collection

CHANEL Introduces Fall 2009 Venice Makeup Collection:

As a city built on water, Venice was a source of great intrigue for Gabrielle Chanel. She saw it as simultaneously dramatic and fragile – qualities she herself possessed. With the imagination of the CHANEL Makeup Studio, Venice comes to life in a palette reflective of the city’s shimmering facades and mosaics, and the sparkling aquatic colours of its lagoons. As seen in the runway looks created by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, at the 2009/10 Cruise Collection show, held on the beaches of Venice, Italy, rich sienna and deep rose tones, and dusky greys and greens combine for a modern look that can be softened for day or emboldened come evening.

CHANEL Moscow Collection Limited Edition Nail Colors

CHANEL Moscow Collection Limited Edition Nail Colors were first seen at the CHANEL Paris-Moscow show at the Ranelagh Theatre in Paris on December 3rd. This limited edition collection of nail lacquers was conceived of by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director for CHANEL Makeup.

“The Or de Russie nail colour we used on the models at the show comes from the new CHANEL Moscow Collection, composed of three shades that I specially created for the show,” states Peter Philips. “The base of these three shades is black, to which we added a different sparkle for each of the colours: red, gold and blue.

The Feu de Russie shade is intense and reflects passion. Or de Russie has a slight gold patina and evokes richness, while Nuit de Russie blue is full of mystery. When you apply the shades, which are rather dark, the surprising element is that they capture light so well that they create a fireworks effect – the shades dazzle with an unbelievable sparkle.”
