Karl also showed us the world-famous mosaic portrait of Theodora, the Empress of the Byzantine Empire Mosaic from the Saint-Vital de Ravenne Basilica, which very naturally became the inspiration for the show’s makeup.”

Estée Lauder Names Joan Smalls New Global Spokesmodel

New York, NY, December 10, 2010 – The Estée Lauder brand today announced that it has signed one of fashion’s rising runway and editorial stars as a new face of Estée Lauder for cosmetics and skincare. Model Joan Smalls, who hails from Puerto Rico, will join Estée Lauder’s roster of global beauties – Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Elizabeth Hurley, Constance Jablonski and Liu Wen – and debut in its global advertising campaigns beginning May 2011.

Lady Gaga Confirmed as next MAC Viva Glam Spokesperson

MAC confirmed in today’s WWD that Lady Gaga will be our next Viva Glam Spokesperson.

“MAC Cosmetics has signed Lady Gaga on for a second year as the spokeswoman for its Viva Glam campaign. Gaga teamed up with Cyndi Lauper for the 2010 campaign, which launched earlier this year. The company said the Gaga-Lauper campaign was the most successful ever for the MAC AIDS Fund, which has raised more than $190 million for the cause since its founding in 1994. For her solo turn in 2011, Gaga was shot by Nick Knight and styled by Nicola Formichetti.”

“I started with Kevyn Aucoin Skin Enhancer for a foundation on her skin. I applied the Ombres Perlées de CHANEL, a beautiful palette of six eye shadows. (New for Spring, available in January 2011). I applied the pale ivory shade loosely all over the eye from lash line to brow then the pink one lightly over the crease to flatten the eye.
