The Japanese Skincare Revolution by Chizu Saeki is the Japanese woman’s skincare bible. Auther and beauty guru Chizu Saeki shares with the world, for the first time, the natural, low-cost techiniques she developed over a career spent in the beauty industry. With it, you’ll learn what today’s Japanese women do to keep their skin looking young and healthy.
Here is an interview with Leading Beauty Expert Chizu Saeki Author of The Japanese Skincare Revolution.
Why did you choose the skincare industry for your profession?
When I was 13 years old, I saw Audrey Hepburn in a film catalog, and I was amazed that such a beautiful person could exist. This is what aroused my interest in beauty. I began imitating her looks, and gradually I realized what a wonderful thing it is to become beautiful. I quit the clerical job I had been working and enrolled in a beauty school to help others achieve beauty.
How are Japanese and American women different in their approaches to skincare?
Japanese women generally want to whiten their skin. When I lived in the U.S., I got the impression that Americans are more interested in hair design and don’t get hung up on details-brown spots, open pores, and such. They look to a more holistic kind of beauty.

My Interview with Project Runway’s Nina Garcia
I had the amazing chance to interview Project Runway’s Nina Garcia for Style Interviews , just in time of the release of her latest book: The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own.
Nina Garcia.
So here it is:
Nina Garcia is one of Bravo’ Project Runway famous judges along with supermodel Heidi Klum, and fashion designer Michael Kors. Nina is also a magazine editor who until August 2008 acted as the Editor-at-Large of Elle Magazine. Nina is now a fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine. In 2007 Nina Garcia released her first book called: The Little Black Book of Style, by Harper Collins, which is a must-have read for any woman who would like to discover her own fashion sense.
In August 2008 Nina published her second book: The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own. In this interview Nina Garcia tells Marta Walsh what it takes to be successful in the fashion industry, the best part if being a judge on the Emmy nominated Bravo series Project Runway, her inspiration behind her latest book The One Hundred, and the Nina Garcia definition for style.
Why did you decide on a career in fashion and what does it take to be successful at it?
I was immediately drawn to the fashion industry’s constantly evolving nature. To be successful? It takes determination and a thick skin.
What is the best part of being a judge on Bravo’s Project Runway?
I love being a part of a show that has brought a great deal of attention to the fashion industry. I think it has made fashion cool again and it has illustrated that it is an industry full of creative, vibrant, intelligent people. I am very proud of that.

BEAUTY AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED By SAMARA O’SHEA
Before I begin, I must thank Marta for inviting me here to the Mecca of make-up. TalkingMakeup.com is a Web site both resourceful and fun-that’s a tall order and she delivers with panache.
Speaking of make-up, I’m going to talk a bit about how I came to terms with, well, basically my face. I, like many, went through a period in my life where I allowed other people to determine how I felt about myself-especially about how I looked. Case in point: I wrote the following journal entry at the age of eighteen.
Space NK-Beauty and the Book
(June 4, 2008-New York New York) Space NK, the UK beauty destination that opened their US flagship location on Greene Street in SOHO just under a year ago, now brings Face Value (Berkley Books-a division of Penguin USA) to New York-the latest book steeped in the world of beauty.
Just as Space NK began in the UK, so did author Kathleen Baird-Murray, who is best known for her time as a Beauty Director for Tatler Magazine. In her new book, Face Value, just out this week at Borders, Kathleen brings together the best of beauty, plastic surgery and publishing.
While a work of fiction, Kathleen takes inspiration from her days in the beauty department at Tatler, providing an insight into her “beauty closet”-from the labels, products, tips and trends that we all crave to make ourselves beautiful.
Last night Space NK honored Kathleen with a cocktail soiree and book signing, celebrating the launch of Face Value and the world of beauty.
