G-Star New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010
Fresh colors anchored the NY RAW Fall/Winter 2010 collection of luxury denim brand G-Star at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Bright Yellow, Nassau Blue and Car Green complemented G-Star’s traditionally dark palette for coats, jackets and dresses, while luxury new light denim washes were added to the established dark raw denim range.
The unique G-Star signature combination of raw and tough mixed with sophisticated and luxurious could be seen in brightly colored, elegantly tailored coats in heavy gauge, cooked wool, paired with luxury worn-in denim pants. The inspiration for this season’s NY RAW collection came from the authentic, highly sophisticated service uniform worn by 19th century coach drivers. G-Star combined a formal A-line silhouette with hard-ware luxury materials and fine tailoring resulting in a modern interpretation of the classic Coachman Coat.
Max Azria Fall Winter 2010 Collection
New York Fashion Week. Max Azria Fall Winter Collection. Hair by Bob Recine for Moroccanoil. The Fashion: For Fall/Winter 2010, Max Azria embarks on a minimalist journey of clean lines and artful tailoring. Dusty mineral tones soften a base of stark black, giving the palette an air of cool sophistication. Disassembled shapes are pieced together, creating textured surfaces in crepe, leather, mesh and satin. A paired down silhouette outlines this season’s vision of streamlined abstraction.
The Hairstyle: Bob Recine for Moroccanoil created a sophisticated flawlessly finished high-ponytail to complement the minimal vision of the 2010 Max Azria collection. “Smooth, well-conditioned, hair with beautiful shine is the essence of this streamlined look,” said Recine. He used argan oil-based Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray to create a structure based on flexible, free-moving hold, and finished with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray to add an invisible veil of radiant, natural-looking frizz-free shine.
Nanette Lepore Fall Winter 2010 Collection
New York Fashion Week. Nanette Lepore Fall Winter 2010 Collection. Hair by Esther Langham for Moroccanoil. The Fashion Inspiration: The art of the Renaissance. A vibrant palette including bold oranges, yellows and blues. Enhanced by clean architectural lines and the geometry of layers. Focal points of the vibrant collection include full ball skirts and the molded sleeve.
The Hairstyle: Esther Langham created graceful variations of Renaissance art-inspired looks defined by a modern sensibility. The looks emphasize soft and flowing feminine shapes, underscored by the beauty of healthy, smooth-textured hair and the freedom of slightly tousled strands. She created two separate looks to complement Nanette Lepore’s designs– one long, waved and flowing, and the other a soft braided upsweep loosely rolled, pinned, and finished with sensual wisps of hair accenting the face.
Carolina Herrera Collection Fall 2010
New York Fashion Week. Carolina Herrera Fall 2010. Hair by Orlando Pita @ ORLO using Moroccanoil. Master stylist Orlando Pita creates a sophisticated look that displays the instinctive elegance and modern strength of long, luxurious hair. The look emphasizes smooth, clean lines refined by the feminine allure of silky, lustrous hair. Beautifully polished strands are center parted and placed sculpturally behind the ear and flow down the back to counterpoint the varied, refined textures of the designs.
There is an alluring confidence in the women who inspired the Fall, 2010 Carolina Herrera collection. A sophisticated feminine attitude and striking details reveal an integrity to luxury. Portraits printed on silk and realized only with a closer look, embroideries have a frenetic etched quality; stones lose their reflection when covered in felt. Shades of camel are injected with Prussian blue, deep red and okra floral print. Proportion is created with volume added to the forearms of sleeves and bell shaped skirts on dresses and coats. Degradé Prince of Wales and mohair windowpane wool inject masculine charm. For evening, fluid ruffles and sculpted pleats wrap around a more constructed form; instinctive elegance.

Herve Leger Fall Winter 2010 Fashion Show
New York Fashion Week. Herve Leger by Max Azria Fall Winter 2010 Collection. Hair by Bob Recine for Moroccanoil.
For Fall/Winter 2010, Hervé Léger by Max Azria fuses its iconic signature and couture techniques with the speed of street athleticism. An achromatic palette is energized by flashes of neon brights, blurring the lines between sophistication and urban edge. Cross-laced panels, textured prints and enameled surfaces highlight the aerodynamic shape of the female form. Her second-skin armor gives her the confidence to stand tall in the face of the future. BTW The Herve Leger dresses are SO Marta:)
Erin Fetherston Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection
New York Fashion Week. Erin Fetherston Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection hair looks created by Odile Gilbert for Moroccanoil. The Look and Inspiration: Erin Fetherston’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection takes inspiration from iconic Chelsea Girl, Nico (Velvet Underground).

The Hair Design: “I love this inspiration,” said Odile. “It’s very 70’s New York rock and roll, yet chic and modern. The hair looks beautiful. It’s straight in a natural way, full of body, and shimmering with silky shine. All these Nico (Velvet Underground & Nico) inspired looks have long dramatic bangs that just barely touch the eyebrows and are longer at the sides. In fact, this modern edgy style is identical to the look that Erin Fetherston wears herself.
